A large structure stands in the middle of a park square, recently erected in an old-fashioned style. The marquee in front shouts out its name to passerby, along with titles of upcoming productions. The box office is right in front, and a few feet from the entrance is the stage door. A scraggly looking teen is standing outside, checking the many notices that are posted on the board next to the door.
"What, are you an actor too?" she asks, waving a hand to the board. "They're having auditions soon. I'm aiming to go pro sometime, but we've all gotta start small, eh?"
Getting no response, she goes on. "This's the Public Theater. It's new, but some of the best directors are coming to set up a working theater here. Any actor can try out, and it's a great chance to get discovered. I hear there's going to be a school here too. The chance of a lifetime for a whole bunch of people. I bet it'll turn this town around."
Without waiting, she opens the stage door, and hurries inside. The sound of chatter leaks out, along with musicians and singers warming up, but the door slams shut before you can get a good look inside.

[insert rules banner here]
General Rules:
1. First and foremost, treat everyone here with respect. Shouldn't even have to be said, but I said it anyway. Problem with someone? Take it outside (ie, to PMs or AIM). 2. Leave the artwork be, please. Don't steal it, sell it, or edit it without permission. 3. Please don't spam. Occasional bumps are fine and dandy, but page after page of them can be tiresome. 4. There is never a rule number four, from what I hear... 5. No begging. Pet trades and autobuys are one thing (and at the discretion of the artist), but repeated begging will be considered harassment. 6. Any gold sent when nothing is up for grabs will be considered a donation. <3
RP Rules: 1. Know how to keep IC and OOC conditions separate. If you don't know how, leave. 2. No leetspeak, chatspeak, or horrendous misspellings are understood here. 3. Keep OOC comments in parentheses or the like when RP is going on. 4. RP is not required! All actors will be growing from whatever stage you recieved them in to adults, in plain clothes. If you want more though (costumes, extra stages, etc), you have to RP! 5. If your actor is cast in a play, they are required to play their part to the end. No leaving if they find something they like better, after all, this is a contract! 6. Potatoes are not meant for soup stock.

[insert story banner here] It was the age of technology, where generation X spent their time playing video games, watching television, and reading comic books. Many found themselves fascinated by the world of sports, others by more brain-stimulating activities such as chess and science. Of course, there were those who were interested in neither. Television and comics brought a surreal, artistic world to the viewers, but participation was impossible. At least, so they thought.

[insert locations banner]
The Public Theater- Located in the middle of Lakeshore Park. It was built at the turn of the century, yet was never used. The structure was recently renovated and split into two separate theaters, one indoor and one outdoor, both of which run under the headline of The Public. It hosts a variety of productions, and is also home to an up and coming youth theater school.
The Delacorte- One half of The Public, which is more like an ampitheatre. Far roomier and more versatile than its mate, it tends to play host to more classic productions, such as well-known musicals, Shakespeare, and straight plays. Its actors have to be fairly experienced and used to working in the rain, as shows are only cancelled in extremely bad weather.
The Castillo- The counterpart to the Delacorte is located indoors, which limits its audience size and stage capabilities. However the cast is guaranteed a dry show, and plays that take place here tend to go off without a hitch. Experimental theater and youth shows oftentimes take place here, however the stage also has boasted classic plays when neccessary.
Lakeshore Park- The park in which The Public is located. It is in an up-and-coming neighborhood in Barton, which gives it good publicity, and is easy to get to.
The River Cafe- A favorite before/after show hangout for both actors and audience.
