Proud to report, AFI has finally done it. They currently hold the #1 spot on the US Charts.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 14, 2006--AFI's unrelenting 15-year climb to the top of the charts reaches its summit as the Ukiah, Calif. band's seventh album, "DECEMBERUNDERGROUND," enters the Billboard 200 album chart at #1 with first week sales of 182,000 according to Nielsen Soundscan.


Reached with news of the #1 debut, AFI vocalist Davey Havok commented, "It's an amazing feeling to have something that you believe in so strongly, that is so much a part of you touch so many people. Further more, Myspace has given AFI the first ever Myspace Music Award for getting half-million plays in one day. That is the MOST ANY BAND HAS RECEIVED.

LOS ANGELES (www.myspace.com) - MySpace.com, the leading Internet lifestyle portal, announced that rock band AFI will receive the inaugural "MySpace Music Award" for a record-breaking 500,000 single-day plays from the band's heavily trafficked MySpace Music profile (www.myspace.com/afi). The honor marks the first time MySpace has issued such an award to any of the more than 1.5 million bands using the site to connect with fans.
"This is the first time a band has had over a half-million song plays on MySpace in a single day so we wanted to recognize this unbelievable accomplishment with something new," said Tom Anderson, president of MySpace. "In recognition of this milestone we're announcing AFI as the first recipient of the 'MySpace Music Award.'"

They dropped to number 3 this week, but still, they sold over a 100,000 copies, which is super awesome. DU is gonna be platinum is no time! Yay for them!
