I'd try to save us both. Really, really hard. If the one I love doesn't want to help me... They're probably going to get shot. But if they help me and nothing can be done to get out of the mess, I'd probably take the bullet in the end.

If it came right down to it I would save their life without thinking about what might happen afterwards. If it were a question of sacrificing myself for 2000 strangers I probably would because 2000 is greater (more) than one.

I would die for any one of my friends, and anyone I love. I wouldn't exist without them. They mean more then my life to me. The few true friends I have mean everything. Without them, I have no life.

If heaven exists, then it is paradise: the most wonderful place. So wonderful in fact, its potential cannot even me imagined.
If I had to live a day with the knowledge I could not talk to my love, I would hurt immensly. Why would I ever give that pain to my love, when he could instead go to paradise?

I would give my life for those I love. That's just me, religion put aside. now, put religion itno the equation, well I can almost guaruntee I'll be on even better standings with the Gods and Goddesses for making such a selfless sacrifice, especially Heru, Set and Sekhmet. I know my ba is eternal, and knowing that my loved ones are safe will put my ka and ba at peace, and I would be able to watch over them as an Akh (an ancestral spirit who has passed the weighing of the heart and become a 'shining one') and take care of them from beyond the grave with the assistance of the Gods and Goddesses.

chaoticpuppet Would I die for the one I love? Well, first of all, me being me, I have, probably too many questions, that need to be answered; if you dont answer them, I'll try and answer them all, with as many different situations as I can possibly think of. So, onto the question, would I die for the one I love? Well, what is my situation? Am I the only money maker? Do I have kids? Is my significant other good or bad with money? How would the grief affect my significant other, if I chose to die? How would the grief affect me if I let my significant other die? What type of death is it? Is my significant other watching me die, how will that affect them? Am I watching my significant other die, how will that affect me? I like that answer, thats kinda the way I think.

My only question is, are you going to know this well in advance, or are you going to have time to ask those questions within the matter of seconds or split-second that you have before the deed happens?

I've thought about this quite a lot actually. And yes, dying for someone you love, and who loves you just as much, is actually as selfish as it is unselfish. If you'd both want to die for the other, the one who dies gets what he/she wants, but the other gets to live. That's why it's debatable.
Me? I'd choose B. I'm unselfish/selfish that way. ^^

[color-indigo]Actually, it depends on the person I love. There have been people I've loved but I don't think they have a strong, positive impact on society. If the beloved person doesn't, to me, have a positive influence on an amount of people, it would be easier for me to preserve myself.
But if the beloved person helps others - I don't mean with just volunteering and recycling, I mean this person is inspirational - I would give up my life.
I would blissfully give up my life for any one of the Beatles not just because I'm a Beatles fan, but because they have been having such an astounding, wonderful influence on the world. I love my cousin, though, but I realize that he just functions in his own world; I'm not saying that I wouldn't mind preserving my own life instead of his, it would just be the more Utilitarian option, in my opinion.

While I doubt I would be put in that situation, I probably would die for them. However, I haven't exactly met my soul mate yet, so I would probably attempt killing the person who was trying to kill us first.
At the same time, if the person I loved wanted me dead, I would do it in a nanosecond. Which, as some would say, is why I am still a minor.

I did read the OP, but i still would die in place of my fiancee. I feel he could do more productive things with the life, and he could handle me passing away better than I could handle him...
