ok so i'm not in the best mood right now. the jerk board members of my town are going to cut band and chorus. and it makes no sense, they say they need money so they first cut the best band teacher. ok if their worried about an extra salary why dont they cut one of the FOUR gym teachers? or cut one of the sports, i mean they could have a fun raiser and pay for it themselves, i know other towns who has done that. My friends and i went to the meeting last night. the members told everyone that we should of went to the meeting last week. ok i went to the freaking meeting last week, this guy was a half an hor late, and he didnt even talk about it. he said 'code L10' or whatever. do you think people knew what that was? no. did he notify the schools? no. i dont understand, why now? why cut a good system that we have? the funny thing is, a reporter lady was there and she was writing down what my friends and i were saying. sooo..maybe their guilt will get to them. or the law. this lady said she could get this civil rights thing on them because her kids have special needs and they might be first to be cut. this really sucks. band and chorus is my life. without it i dont know what i'd do. if not for band i wouldnt have any friends. i met EVERYONE in band.
its not fairr. vent much? eek crying

I'm sorry to hear that. I hate how whenever schools or towns are looking to cut something from the budget, the music programs are almost always the first to go.

OMG! Okay, you can do one of two things:
Protest with your band outside a board meeting
OR
Write a letter to them explaining what band has done for you and why music is needed in peoples' lives.
Just an idea. Anyway, continue to practice even if the music is cut! Try offering alternative suggestions to the board to see if they take them instead. My school board threatened to cut band and I flipped out, so i know where you're coming from.
Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear that. Yes, schools have their priorities in the wrong places. Sports is held high with schools, music is just there. Our school almost lost band and pagentry, but we actually fought back and saved it.
PROTEST TO THE BOARD!

Music, art classes, and gifted classes are always the first to go in schools
Protest, do something, there is a 1% chance that you'll win, but atleast you won't have the "what if's" for years
