Theorem 69

PostPosted: Tue Mar 06, 2007 5:21 pm

lol, I love doing the calculations! But from what I gather from the conversation, y'all are doing it the old fashiony "physics" way.

As for the AC case...yes, phasors are the way to go! As for reducing all those ugly loop/node equations using Kirchoff's Laws...there are simpler "short-cut" methods called: Nodal Analysis and Mesh Analysis. Look 'em up! They'll make your life WAY easy. As to why they don't teach them to you in physics, I don't know. You learn these methods if you take basic Circuit Analysis in an Electrical Engineering curriculum.

"I always wondered why you get electricuted if you stick your finger into an electrical socket."

Am I one of the few freaks who likes math? Well, it has been stated that I seem to have a penchant for screwing up all things electrical... did I mention the bulb socket in the rain? Good thing the switch wasn't on, or I would've got it then!

My Eng. program requires electrical circuit analysis, but we only get one trimester to learn all that the EE and EETs do in their freshman year... My brain feels so twitchy... Thats V=IR through AC, transients, ressonance, op amps, etc. in 10 weeks (with no lab even). My prof. just started multi phase sources this afternoon when the final is in less than a week...

Well, I am part of a FRC team. I do mostly programming in the shop, though I do help once in a while with electrical aspects of our robot. I . . . did almost make the robot run over another team member though (I learned that even if you think that no one changed the program, ALWAYS take the wheels off the ground before testing anything sweatdrop Files do tend to get switched once in a while).

Other than that . . . uhh . . . I would play with small motors and batteries when I was seven. I broke them all within a year though. I would like to learn more about circuits though. I find them very interesting.
