all right all right, no fears, rebecca to the rescue!!!!! lol jk

well what you should all do is just try to look at yourself in a mirror as long as possible and until the very last second and then whip your head around really fast because you want to see how pretty you look!!! thats how i thought of it. or just concentrate really hard on the point you want to get to. remember: wherever you spot, you go. its really easy once you get the hang of it! im so used to it now i cant spin in circles without spotting! lol

another thing if you're having other problems with pirouettes or however they're spelled, think of a rope pulling you up towards the ceiling! and bring your knee up as high as you can. believe it or not, that really helps. i have to do four for one of my dances, and when i finally mastered it it was because i brought my knee up.

hope this helps!

its hard for me too. My friends say its the easeist thing. I'm like well not for me. I practice turning all the time. it doesn't work. And we do alot of turns in our ballet dance this year.

I have always had a prob with spotting and i still can't get it. That's harsh, that your teacher is threatening you if you can't get it. I know it's important but is it really THAT important?!! confused Personally, spotting makes me even more dizzy and sometimes i get headaches cuz my head spins around too fast. eek Thanx for the tips though. I'll give them a try. 3nodding

I had a lot of trouble with spotting. I didn't really have a problem with not doing them on single turns because I got around fine and they didn't help me with my dizzieness. But when you get to doubles, they really help you whip around. It takes practice, it took me almost a year. My advice is to practice going accross a floor with 3 padabourays ((sorry, cannot spell to save my life)) Prepare, single. Then double, pick a spot on the wall and whip around to find it. Don't use people.

Success Story to motivate you:
I tried that and now can do a pretty clean double, and an awsome single. I'm in level 4 out of six and it's my second year out of the two years you have to take it. You learn doubles in level four and since moast of the kids are new they can't do them. I got some private instruction from my teacher because I missed class and she told me to do a double turn with the turn. I noticed no one else was doing one and felt so specail!, she told me to do them because I can. So PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.

Just try to concentrate and really think about what your doing. That's the only thing that helps me.

Sometimes I forget and spin into the mirror or something, but I remember most of the time. I've been being told to spot since I was actually pretty little, so it's habit now.

Yes, spotting IS that important. One of the things my teacher always says is that the public is paying to see your face, so a good spot to the public will keep them entertained. And technically speaking, it keeps you from getting dizzy, if you ARE getting dizzy you are either changing the spot or not doing fast enough. The point of the spot is to keep the eyes focused on the same spot to fool the senses. If you keep the eyes on the same spot, the brain won't notice as quickly that you are turning, therefore you will mantain your balance longer... keep practicing, you'll eventually notice...

I don't find spotting difficult at all. But once you go over triple pirouettes, good spotting is the only thing that will get you around.

It seems like the easiest thing EVRER but it took me so long to even get comfortable with it. Just keep practicing, like turn in a circle but do the whip lash thing sweatdrop

When your in a class or something, just always have a main spot place and work with that as much as you can..and challenge yourself for thriples or doubles one in a while ^^

You have to spot really quick when ever you do turns. Look at something eye level and also makes sure you pull up to get up there.
