Dizzy glanced down at the directions in her lap, trying to read them and drive at the same time. “Jazzie, be a dear and read these out to me?” She handed the paper to the child next to her. The girl was a remarkable reader for her age, Dizzy has decided to put her in 2nd grade and see how she faired there. With Jazzie’s help they made it to the school in once piece. Dizzy reached over and opened the passenger side door. “there you go Kiddo! Get out there and show them all that you’re made of!” She cheered. Jazzie smiled nervously before unbuckling herself and climbing down to the ground. She grabbed her backpack and flung it over her shoulder. “Alright, you to into that big building there, there will be a lady sitting behind a desk. Tell her your name and she’ll tell you where to go. Have fun Jazzie, I’ll be here when school’s over” She gave the cheerful girl a wave and drove off as she dashed up to the building.
Jazzie looked about the school office, typical elementary school decorations hung on the walls, painted posters expressing feel good sayings and other such things. Jazzie walked up to the desk and was greeted by a nice older woman. After a few exchanged words she was given directions to her new classroom.
Inside the classroom was more of the colorful posters of varying artistic levels. Home made paper lanterns and snowflakes hung from strings on the ceiling creating a very festive appearance. A small corner was set aside with a carpet and a large pile of beanbag chairs and pillows of sorts. Along the walls were a long line of bookshelves stock piled with books of all genre’s that would be on interest to children. The kids in the classroom were all older than Jazzie. She’d been alerted to the fact though, she had passed her assessment test a few days before and was placed in 2nd grade instead of 1st. Her examination of the room was interrupted as she was scooped up into a bear hug by a lanky woman with wild hair. “Ohhh!!! You’re adorable! You must be the new girl Jazzie right? Let me get a look at you!” She extended the girl to arms length, her hands on her shoulders. “Oh you’re a doll! Alright, just wait over there behind my desk!” She pointed the way and ran off to the front of the class as the bell rang. Jazzie resisted the urge to glare at the intrusion of her personal space and walked proudly to the desk, taking a seat on the tall squishy seat.
“Now before we get into our normal routine I’d like to introduce our new student Jazzie!” She waved wildly at Jazzie. Jazzie raised an eyebrow but walked to the front of the classroom, smiling at the kids around her. She took note of the lack of colorful hair like hers. “ This is Jazzie, She was just enrolled a few days ago and will be joining us! Now I want you all to be nice and show her around, she’s a year younger than the rest of you but I don’t want to see any teasing. Now Jazzie you’ll have a seat there next to the window and we can get started!”
The day went fairly smoothly, first recess came surprisingly fast as Jazzie was pulled along outside with the class as they made a mad rush to the playground.
Outside Jazzie followed a small crowd of kids to the equipment that caught her attention the quickest, the merry-go-round. As they all jumped on she grinned, joining them in and empty slot. “Where are you from?” Asked a voice from behind her. She turned to look at the girl curiously. “You’re from the mansion aren’t you?” Jazzie thought back to before she joined Dizzy, which wasn’t that long ago.
She nodded. “Yeah, now I live with Dizzy.”
“Cool! My mom knows her!” She said in reference to Dizzy. “She goes to her bar a lot!” The girl jumped up to sit on the bar next to Jazzie. “My name’s Melanie, That’s Nick, Kevin, Josie, Cory, Allison, and Megan.” She said pointing to each child in turn as they all waved to their names. “I already know You’re Jazzie, I’m in Annemarie’s class too. Just stick with me and I’ll show you how things work around here.” With that she leapt down from the toy and ran off to the swings calling back “I’ll see you in class!”
Jazzie wasn’t sure whether she liked the girl or not. She was obviously being nice, but she had that dominating attitude to her that rubbed Jazzie wrong. The rest of the day went about as well as expected. The teacher, Annemarie as she liked to be called was clingy and loved to hover over Jazzie, watching her work, the students were nice but distant, even when Jazzie introduced herself and tried playing with them. Melanie showed her around and helped her a lot all the while acting as Jazzie needed to be explained simple things because she was younger.
Jazzie stood by the front entrance, watching students run to their cars and the busses as she thought about her first day. It had gone fairly well in her mind. The students would open up to her eventually and she’d establish her place soon enough. At least she hadn’t made a bad impression. She bounded down the stairs as a familiar blue Toyota pulled up with a screech. “Badru!” She cried happily as the green and white cat stuck his head up out of the trunk. She climbed up the tire to give him a quick hug before leaping into the passenger seat and buckling up.
“So Jazzling, how was it?” Dizzy asked over the steering wheel as Badru slid his head inside the cabin through the back window.
“Careful Dizzy, with the way you’re driving you’re going to cut my head off!”
“Then sit back and hold on!” Dizzy reached a hand back to ruffled the cat’s fur as he pulled his head back, resting his chin in the open window.
“Fun, I think I’m going to like it! They have themed lessons, Annemarie said this month they were learning about the Pioneers! Next month they’re going to play a game all month to teach us about the Oregon Trail! Everyone will get to pretend to be a person on the trail and we have to go along the trail and get to Oregon safely! It sounds like fun!” She gasped and giggled with glee as Dizzy parked in front of the local ice cream parlor.
“well after such and an exciting day I think you deserve a treat! Everyone out!” She was the last one to get out as both cat and girl were already at the door. Dizzy laughed and locked the truck. In their small neck of the town people knew Dizzy well enough to know her pet situation, Badru and the others were allowed in most places and even did minor shopping runs for Dizzy. The three entered the parlor quietly, Badru went to claim them a booth as Dizzy placed orders for Jazzie and her. They soon joined Badru by a nice window seat.
“Thank you Dizzy!” Jazzie said over a mouthful of chocolate ice cream with strawberries.
Dizzy handed the child a napkin. “You’re welcome Jazzie. Think you’ll want to take the bus tomorrow?”
Jazzie thought a moment then nodded. She leaned against Badru, staring out the window and eating her ice cream as she thought about this new change in her life.

Jazzie giggled as she peaked through the doorway to her house. Inside Dizzy was apparently in the process of cleaning. Above the roar of the vacuum played an 80’s mix CD on the stereo, the base turned up louder than necessary. Dizzy was singing along with her eyes closed, rocking out with the vacuum and dancing like crazy. She looked like she’d been dropped right out of the era that her music came from, in an outfit of purple leggings, off the shoulder long sleeved t-shirt, and matching ballet slippers. Jazzie snuck in the front door, noting the absence of felines in the area, most were probably off somewhere avoiding the music. If she could make it to her room unnoticed, she might just avoid housewo--. The music clicked off. “There you are you little rat!” came the good natured cry from right behind Jazzie. She was pulled off her feet as an arm wrapped itself around her head and gave her a tight hug. “Guess what we’re doing today?” Dizzy wrinkled her nose as she smiled, leaning on the smaller girl.
“Ah….Going to the beach?” Jazzie ventured a hopeful guess, knowing full well what the correct answer was.
“Close but no dice!” She cackled, Jazzie got the distinct feeling she wasn’t quiet herself. “We’re cleaning this ship from top to bottom! So go drop your stuff off in your room, change into some grubbies and report back here!” Dizzy gave the youngling a push down the hallway before prancing off to the kitchen, where her drink sat. Two sips later and Jazzie was in front of her again.
Dizzy eyed her. “Alright, you tackle the rest of the living room, I vacuumed the floor…wash the window’s, dust, and take the hand vac to the furniture. I’ll do the bathroom then we can work on our bedrooms.” Dizzy ruffled the child’s hair before returning to the stereo and blaring her music at unspeakable volumes.
Jazzie glanced at the counter where Dizzy had left her drink. They always smelled weird but kind of nice. Dizzy had never given her a sip though. She picked up the glass and sniffed it again, the strong smell assaulting her nose. Jazzie glanced about mischievously before tilting it back and taking a quick taste. She gagged and sputtered, rushing to rinse her mouth out in the sink. She turned slowly, her cheeks fiery red as she sensed someone behind her. Dizzy was laughing hard though it was killed by the chorus of Hot child in the City. Jazzie pouted. She didn’t like being laughed at. She stood still as Dizzy collapsed onto her in a mockery of a hug. Dizzy’s voice was audible now as she struggled to speak. “I could have told you you wouldn’t like it! Silly thing, leave my drinks alone and get to work.” She stood and winked at her as she finished off the drink and wandered down the hallway to the bathroom.
Jazzie scowled but grabbed a cloth and the Windex from under the sink, setting to work grudgingly.

Jazzie had a lot of fun at Malachite's birthday party. She met new friends and realized not all boys were wormy and gross, just the majority. Dizzy also had fun at the party, making herself a new friend out of a nice man by the name of Theif. Partyness

“Ok! Now I’m the princess, Badru’s my prince and Zephy, You’re the evil monster!” Jazzie giggled and clapped her hands before jumping up onto the chair she’d dragged into the backyard. She wore what was one of Dizzy’s smaller dresses though on her it was full length. Dizzy noted the girl had already developed a very stunning sense of fashion, many of her clothing arrangements reminded her of the stuff she wore in her teens. The blue dress she currently wore had a bustline that fell at her waist and with a white belt it looked like it was made to fit her as it was.
Jazzie wailed piteously from her perch as the virtuous Sir Badru faced off with the evil monster Lord Zephyr. She cried out in fear continuously as they paced in circles around each other snarling and snapping at the air claws raking. In her imagination she was trapped in a small cage hanging from the top of a castle tower above a moat full of evil hungry creatures.
She gasped and giggled in glee as Badru made the first move, lunging at the blue furred creature and attaching himself to his back between the wings. Of course neither were aiming to harm each other, only put on a show for their charge. Zephyr roared and reared back, flailing his wings and reaching back to rip his attacker off. “oh Sir Badru no!” She gasped at the Egyptian cat was flung to the ground, Zephyr towered above him, raising his paw to slash at his throat. His attack was thwarted by a double kick to the gut, knocking him back. The cats tumbled together for some time before Badru stood the victor, Zephyr’s throat gently clenched between his jaws. Zephyr pretended to lay dead as Badru climbed the ‘tower’ to rescue his princess. “OH thank you sweet prince! I shall now be your bride!” Jazzie giggled and kissed his nose before climbing onto his back.
“You’re welcome fair maiden.. I--!” His improvised speech was cut off quickly by a swat to the head and a growl from Zephyr. “Calm yourself, I didn’t mean for it to hurt you, I figured you were tougher than that.” His apology was marred by the hidden insult, with a glint in his eye he quickly let Jazzie down then bounded off across the yard, chased by the Thera. Jazzie pouted as the two played around, mock angry with each other. She climbed onto the porch swing and sat there as the newest addition, another Egyptian cat named Sabah leapt into her lap.
“You won’t ignore me will you Sabah?” She asked the kitten, currently only the size of a housecat. Sabah only purred declining to speak her mind just yet.

“Now! Today we’ll be starting our new Journals! You’re to write down an entry at least once a week or more often if you’d like! Whenever you feel like writing! This is a good chance to practice your cursive as well! Once a week as I said we’ll have exercises I’ll want you to jot down into these notebooks. Today we’ll start with an easy one! Tell me about you! I’ll be reading your entries every week.” Annemarie passed out the colorful journals to all the students then set a timer on her desk. “When the timer goes off that’s your cue to finish up your writing and put it on the stool. If you finish before the timer put it up there anyways.” She smiled at all of them then started the timer. Jazzie chewed on the eraser of her pencil, the taste not so pleasing but the comfort of having something to chew on out weighing that fact as she thought. Finally she put pencil to paper. Quote: I live at home with Dizzy and a bunch of cats. theyre names are Zefyr, Badru, Saba, Jyesa, Beldaran, Sagira, Noot, Natala, and Namir. I like them a lot. Badru is my best friend. he likes to lisen when I talk. Dizzy is nice to me. she has purple hair and kiti ears. she has a tail. I want a tail but i don’t have one. Dizzy is wird. she drinks funy smelling stuff. She works late at night to. I like to read and lisen to music. Dizzy says I like 80s music. my favorit singer is Blondi. I like the song Sunday girl. Its fun. She looked at the page and smiled. That was good! She stood and took her book up to the front of the class putting it on the empty stool, smugly noting she was the first one finished. She sat back at her desk and idly chewed her pencil as she slipped into daydreaming.

Dizzy swirled the ice in her drink as she watched the young girl as she clattered away on their new computer’s keyboard. It was an older computer but Jazzling had been set upon getting it. Her reasoning was it would help her with her schoolwork. Dizzy doubted it’d get used for that at all but it was cool. She could play games on it so she was happy. The girl was growing up really fast it seemed. While Dizzy found it odd she decided not to question it. Weirder s**t had happened. Still the kid was hitting puberty and Dizzy was Not looking forward to the whole period fiasco. She’d never live down her own first monthly. She set her drink down and yawned before pushing herself up and sauntering over to Jazzie. “So kid? What are you up to?” She leaned over the girl’s shoulder.
Jazzie clicked out of the document she’d been concentrating on as soon as she heard Dizzy get up. She sat back and adjusted her headband, the blue ears she’d attached to it mimicked the shape of Dizzy’s though they were slightly smaller. She liked them. She’d make a better pair as soon as she could weasle another fabric trip out of Dizzy. “Nothing much.” Lies. She’d been typing in her makeshift Journal. Just a word document hidden on the computer but it served it’s purpous.
Dizzy ruffled the girls hair, growing longer and fluffier by the minute. “Sure kid.” She grined and slid half onto the chair Jazzie occupied. Throwing her arm over the girls shoulders she leaned in. “As much as I don’t want to do this I think we need to talk.”
Something about the comment made Jazzie’s heart leap into her throat. She hid her nervousnes and spoke in a calm voice. “About what?” She made her face blank and stared at the computer screen, opening up a game of solitaire.
“About…umm…things. You’re getting older and…umm..” Dizzy’s face flushed. She had no idea where she was going with this. “Do you like boys?” She blurted out.
Jazzling thought about it for a moment, she’d always hated boys their personal hygiene was lacking and their mannerisms crude but secretly, though she didn’t want to admit it, Jazzling had been discovering that being around them during break tended to be much more entertaining than being with the girls. The games they played seemed much more fun. Not that she’d ever admit it though. “No. They’re gross and immature.” More lies.
“Good! Annoying as all hell! That’s what they are! Err…sorry Jazzling. Ehh…you’ll like them in a special way…Which you shouldn’t do! Until you’re older…things will happen and I don’t want uhh…well When a man loves a woman…ummm…things…”
“Out with it Dizzy, you’re not making any sense.” Jazzie raised an eyebrow and half smiled. Dizzy was funny when she hit this point in her mornings though it tended to get bad quickly.
“Well! What I mean is…men and women do a special thing when…”
“Is this going to be about sex?”
Dizzy managed a very deep blush and mouthed blankly for a moment. “Where did you get that?” She asked shakily.
“I read, and they’re starting sex-ed in schools. You weren’t paying much attention when I asked you about the form so I just signed your name. It’s ok. But they all gloss over the details.” Jazzie was interested. All her books in one way or another ‘faded to black’ when it got to those parts. And what the school was teaching wasn’t much help either. She knew the basic theory behind it but nothing at all about how it worked.
“Well…that’s probably for the best but umm…wait a second. You signed my name for me?”
“Yes, now don’t change the subject. What did you want to say?” Jazzie had her full attention on Dizzy now, partically due to interest, partially because it made Dizzy nervous. Jazzie figured she might have a small sadistic side to her.
“I…Jazzie…” she sighed in agitation. “I don’t know. Let me get another drink and I’ll try again later” She stood up and walked to her former seat with her hand on her forhead. She sighed and waved her hand in a side to side manner.“There’s-”
“yeah, I know” Jazzie said with a sudden icyness. It was Dizzy’s not so subtle hint that she didn’t want the girl around. It had been happening more frequently the past few weeks. Jazzie got the feeling that something was bothering Dizzy. She hadn’t found out yet though. She’d do some snooping later while Dizz was at work. Jazzie grabbed a few bills from Dizzy’s purse and went to change. A few minutes later she waved at Dizz as she closed the front door behind her. She grabbed her bike and rode off down the road, not exactly with a purpous but as long as Badru was following her she’d be fine.

(I think I can officially pronounce myself braindead right now...this needs to be more than one part apparently...and titled. How very odd of me.) Enter Cadence Part I Jazzie laid on her back on her bed, throwing a plushie up in the air and catching it again repeatedly. Her eyes were glazed and stared unseeing at the ceiling. She was dwelling upon a dream she had just had, trying to continue it though she was awake.
She was an archeologist and her and a group of kids had been exploring a pyramid that had just been uncovered. Deep down inside the pyramid they found a large chamber that seemed to be in pristine condition. The paint hadn’t faded; the gold of the furniture was still glowing in their torch lights. Snakes seemed to be the theme of this room. Everywhere images of them sprung up, from stylized carvings to lifelike though giant statues. The most notable was the large painting of a woman, half snake holding what appeared to be a scepter in her left hand pointing at hundreds of tiny people on tiered balconies. The people writhed and twisted as if they were in pain; the ones nearest her were no longer human, having been transformed into snakes. Those in the back of the balconies appeared to be leaping off the edge, only to discover if they even survived the fall, they were falling into a pit of snakes. Jazzie got the chills from the room while all the other children seemed to be enjoying it and even cracking jokes at the story of paintings along the walls.
As she was looking at the walls, one of the students had gone to the far end of the room and lighted the torches lining the walls. There revealed a large golden throne of sorts, fashioned again in the image of a giant snake. A grating sound was heard coming from it. One kid joked “Looks like he found the on button!”
Jazzie backed away, hiding behind something, she couldn’t tell what. She watched silently as the rest of the kids gathered around the throne as a panel in the back wall slid open, revealing the same half snake woman from the painting. Oddly none of the children seemed afraid of her. Jazzie couldn’t hear what was being said but it appeared as if the woman was speaking to them, charming them. They sat down in front of her to listen as she took her seat. She suddenly raised the scepter and stabbed it in the air at the center of the group, from that point the children writhed and transformed into snakes.
This was the point from which Jazzie had woken in the dream, severely disappointed. She wanted to know how she was going to save all her classmates!
She gave up for the moment, throwing the plush at the wall and sat up. Lookdown at her pajama’s she decided that getting dressed was too much of a hassle for the moment, food was more important. Jazzie made her way to the kitchen. “Out of the way Natala” She nudged the oddly colored cat away from the fridge as she opened the door. Before she got the chance to grab something to eat Dizzy’s voice rang out from down the hallway. “JAZZIE! You up?!”
Jazzie sighed angrily. “Yeah, What?” She closed the fridge door. “Come here!” Her voice quieted as she drew nearer, turning into the kitchen at a bit of a trot. “I need your help. We have to clear out one of the spare rooms real quick like. Put on some grubbies, hurry up.” “Wait what? Grubbies? Why are we clearing it out? Isn’t that where the cats sleep?” She followed dizzy back to the spare room, already looking like a room being emptied, thrashed.
“Just grab a pair of shorts and one of my old t-shirts, the see no evil one will be fine. We’ve got a new roommate coming today.”
“WHAT?!” Jazzie exploded. “Isn’t this house packed as it is? Why is someone else moving in? Why didn’t you ask me if it was ok?!”
Dizzy turned around. “Yes the house is crowded, she’s already aware of that. She’s moving in because I can’t pay for this whole house AND feed us on just my salary and since you’re still to young to work I needed to invite another income into the family. I didn’t ask you because this is my house still and whether you liked it or not we were getting a roommate. As for telling you, I have no excuse for that and you’re just going to have to live with it.” Dizzy returned to her work “Hurry it Cinderella, we’ve got a lot of work to do.”
Jazzie glared evilly at Dizzy before stalking off to change. She didn’t want to clean, she didn’t want another person moving in. Jazzie returned a few moments later to sullenly help Dizzy clean and sparsely furnish the room. They finished a few hours later, just after noon. Dizzy made a plate of sandwiches for lunch on which Jazzie noticed a few extra. “Who’s the new roommate?” She tried to hide her curiosity in her voice by glaring at her sandwich, still miffed.
“Her name is Cadence, she’s 21 and works at a local nursing home. She’s nice enough. Don’t act like that.” {To be cont…}

Enter Cadence Part II Cadence looked at the strange house in front of her. The house itself looked fine if wanting a new coat of paint. The yard was a chaotic blend of random lawn toys, what appeared to be an old inflatable kiddy pool that had been turned over, an old washer, a door leaning against a wall and an assortment of balls in various stages of deflation. It’s only to be expected that though the grass wasn’t out of control, it wasn’t regularly mowed. This wasn’t the first time she’d moved in with a stranger, just the oddest. She’d been given a very vague briefing by the homeowner, a nice but a little eccentric woman. She was told that she’d be living with her and another younger girl, a somewhat adopted little sister type person and a family of cats. From the looks of it, that wasn’t quite what she meant. The appearance of claw marks on the old door gave evidence to something much larger than a normal housecat. She grimaced at the marks as she removed her earphones and knocked. Dizzy rushed to open the door and welcome her new roommate in. “Hello Cadence! Here come in sit! We were just having lunch. Do you want a sandwich or something to drink?” She gestured the young woman into the kitchen. Jazzie watched through slanted eyes as the stranger entered. She immediately noticed the woman’s clothing, bright and a little eccentric. Jazzie had seen nothing like it before. The shirt was a green tube top with what appeared to be a black belt around the bottom and up the middle, connected to a choker of the same material; all lined with grommets. The pants were of a baggy black material with matching green stitching. The back pocket had a green skull and crossbones on it which Jazzie secretly fell in love with. It also had long belts wrapped around and between the legs, somewhat restricting movement. She couldn’t see the shoes from her point of view. Cadence was over whelmed by the speed of the woman’s voice. She seemed a little over excited. Cadence just smiled though they’d already met once and she’d gotten a feel for her personality already. The girls stare didn’t affect her. She stuck out the tip of her tongue and winked quickly. “Hello to you too! No sandwich please but if you have milk I’d appreciate it.” She took a seat across from Jazzie. “Hey there.” Jazzie made a quick mental decision. “Hello” She smiled brightly. “My name is Jazzie.” Her voice held slight overtones of ’you’re privileged to receive this information’. Dizzy sat down with them and smiled a little awkwardly. “Well Cadence, we’ve pretty much made everything as ready as we can for you. Your room is down the hallway, Jazzie can show you it in a moment, We’ll give you a quick tour of the house. I know I didn’t make things entirely clear and I feel I’ve got to explain to you something. I wasn’t entirely honest when I said ‘cats’.” “I got that impression” Cadence smiled to take the bite out of her words. She leaned back in her chair, sipping the glass of milk. “ah…well…The closest thing I can describe here is we live in the midst of a pride. They aren’t ordinary felines either, It’s hard to describe them all at once and I’m pretty much told them to scoot while we talk down here. I can call them in if you want to meet them now. You might want to reconsider living here with a bunch of large cats.” Dizzy looked worried, she really didn’t want to lose this roommate but she owed her the opportunity to leave if she was uncomfortable. Cadence quickly thought, she herself was a canine person and suddenly felt like she’d been dropped into a foreign land. She didn’t not like cats though, big or small. She’d also been introduced to those that obviously weren’t what some would call natural. She herself wasn’t what you’d call natural, coming from the same place as the young child across from her. Cadence knew this but she wasn’t sure if Jazzie was aware of their connection. “Sure, let’s meet them now. I’d rather not be caught unsuspecting on my way to the restroom.” Cadence chuckled, encouraging Dizzy to as well. Dizzy smiled and stood, going to the arch that led to the rest of the house, she whistled long and loud before returning to sit back down. “Just a moment” Badru was the first to arrive, having been sitting right outside the doorway, being near Jazzling as always. Following him came Natala and Kafziel, the youngest and smallest of the group, they were followed a moment by Zephyr, Sagira and Sabah. By now the dining room was becoming crowded. Nut and Beldaran were the last to enter. Dizzy pointed them out as they came in, naming them and listing their peculiarities and personalities quickly. Cadence was astonished. She’d never seen anything so mismatched in color and shape. It added a aura of bizarre to this house that she hadn’t thought possible. Cadence was surprised to find herself not adverse to it though. She could grow to like this place. Dizzy was nice, Jazzie would crack sooner or later and as for the ‘pride?’ She figured that cats were bound to sleep or disappear most of the time. She’d probably never see them all packed around her like this again. Maybe dizzy might even let her get a canine, she obviously had room for animals and Cadence could take care of it herself. She might need permission from the animals though…an odd thought for her. “So what do you think?” “I…I don’t know. I’m definitely surprised but I figure I can live with this. I really appreciate you opening up your home to me.” She shrugged her shoulders, stealthily turning the volume up a notch on her earphones, the faint sound of the music calming the nerves that had started to jingle. “How about you show me my room. I’ve got all my stuff in the car outside, I’ll need to bring it in soon.” (may do a part three...may just leave it as is. I don't know yet. I'm tired.)

“Hey Thumper, what’re you up to?”
Jazzie shot a wicked glance at the woman leaning in her doorway. She continued wiping down the surface of her desk with wood polish.
“Cleaning”
“Looks pretty clean to me.”
“I’m not done yet.”
Cadence raised an eyebrow then shrugged turning and retreating to the kitchen. She popped out on ear phone as she encountered Dizzy, furiously cooking. “Party tonight?”
Dizzy gave a short bark of laughter. “No, There’s no way I could hold a party here! You’ve seen how crazy it is! Not that I don’t wish I couldn’t…but with….what 9 cats of various sizes and tempers…there’s no way.” She took a long sip of the wine glass at her side. Cadence noticed at least this time she’d managed to get it into the glass before she drank it. She hadn’t been told Dizzy had a drinking problem. She was starting to think Dizzy didn’t even realize it.
“We could clean the place up and set the cats up outside, bribe them to stay out there for an evening. And even if you can’t do that, you could invite some people for a night out somewhere.” She sat on an empty counter and crossed her legs, watching the pot of something start to bubble. “Soup’s boiling”
Dizzy leapt at the soup, turning the burner off and removing it quickly. She put it in the sink quickly to get it out of her way as she turned back to her the pan she was using to sauté vegetables. “Thanks. But no, I work at a bar! I get out every night.” She shook her head. “check the rice for me if you’re going to sit in here.”
Cadence slid off the counter and went to check the steamer. “It looks fine. And you don’t need to go to a bar to have a night out. Here, let me take you to a club, It’s an all ages one so Jazzie could join us as well! No need for a baby sitter.”
“She never needs one, not with Badru following her everywhere…do you think we could separate those two long enough to go to a club?”
“DIZZY!!!! WHERE’D YOU PUT THE VACUUM?” the high pitched yell echoed from somewhere in the house. Dizzy paused, staring at the tongs in her hand.
“I…I don’t know!” She looked shocked, she couldn’t remember for the life of her where the vacuum was.
Cadence shook her head. Most people would be out of here by now…she kind of enjoyed the hectic atmosphere. “I’m sure they’ll be fine, at the very least, Badru can wait outside. I don’t know if the owner would allow him inside but I can ask. He’s cool sometimes. In a few years it won’t be a problem, I know another club that would have no problem with him, it’s just an older teen club, 18 up, still clean though.”
Dizzy sighed…”Well…let me finish up here and we can talk about it more. I don’t think it’s a bad idea…as long as it doesn’t cost to much. “
“Who are you cooking for anyways?”
“Us, I figured I’d get it all done now while I have the chance and we’ll have food for a few days so I can get some other stuff done.” she wiped her forehead.
“Why not recruit Jazzie to help out? She seems fairly good at cleaning…”
“Oh yeah, I’m starting to think it’s a bit unhealthy to be that clean…too many chemical fumes in the air. But there’s no stopping her, she goes crazy if she’s forced to stay out here…she won’t even go into my room anymore. Which I guess is good for my clothes, that girl is growing fast and me being small myself…She’s raised hell on my closet.”
“There’s an idea! I could take her to get new cloths! I can get her some stuff for the club and some new street clothes, as long as she agrees to give you back some of yours. “
“If you want to spend your money on that go ahead, you’ve already paid your rent. I’d appreciate it really!” Dizzy laughed. “Go ahead and talk to her. I’ll need another hour or so, I’ve got stuff in the oven.”
“I know. I can smell it” Cadence gave Dizzy a quick sideways hug before making her way back to the younger one’s bedroom. She turned up the volume on her music so she could hear it over the vacuum. “Hey Thumper! The girl ignored her.
“Thumper!!
THUMPER!
….Jazzie!!” The vacuum turned off.
“What do you want?!” The exasperated girl turned.
“Your room is clean enough! We’re going shopping!”
Jazzie scanned her bedroom…it could wait for shopping. “Why and what for?”
“Clothes, Dizzy’s closet is looking a little bare and she wants some of her stuff back, so I agreed to take you clothes shopping as long as you consent to giving up some things. What do you say?”
Jazzie thought about it for a moment before flinging open her closet door and digging through it. In a few moments a pile of clothes sat folded on the bed. “Here, she can have those. They all fit her though some weren’t originally hers. Let’s go.” She grabbed her bag and threw her jacket on. With one last glance in the mirror to straighten her hair and check her make-up she was out the door.
Cadence laughed and followed. “Dizzy! There’s a pile of clothes on her bed! We’ll be back later!” the door slammed behind the two.
