One of my favorite authors is Lisa Kleypas. She's a historical romance writer and, generally, if you hand me one of her books I'll say I've already read it and loved it or take it and go hide for a while. lol
She writes wonderful stories about couples falling in love in a variety of ways and not all of her characters are aristocrats which I love. BUT--
There's one of her books, Midnight Angel, that I can not bring myself to read. I had read the description on the back of the book one day at Barnes&Noble, but ended up not getting it because I was there for a different book and only had the money for one. I later went on her website and was reading the book description there along with her comments on it, when I found out that the hero had a hook instead of a left hand.
It may sound shallow, but it completely put me off.
Any one else ever have a similar situation? Or am I just crazy? xd

no, no, it happens sometimes but i think that you should give him a chance. it might be that the characters personality and the way he treats her might outway your initial disgust for his missing hand.

I wouldn't really call it a 'disgust.' I've read stories where the characters are scarred and what not. I don't have a problem with imperfections and she says on her website that she had to write him in a way that readers saw past his missing hand. I just think I'd get weirded out during the sex scences. I'd be like sleeping with Captain Hook. Or thinking about someone sleeping with Captain Hook. gonk

I certainly understand sweatdrop
Who wants to think about the actor from Hook as a heart throb? And...I'd rather not think about what would happen with that hook........*shiver*
