I tried to convince a friend the other day to not watch fansubs of Death Note since he wants to buy the DVDs anyways. My point was, why watch them on YouTube if you're just going to wind up purchasing them? This apparently offended him, I found out later from another friend. -_-

If he's going to buy the DVD's, who exactly is he harming by watching on Youtube? He actually supports the company, and he suffers by watching crap quality as opposed to good quality.

I agree, my point to him was just that he might as well wait to watch it in quality DVD, rather than compressed YouTube fansub. The fact that he's buying it (or says he'll buy it) is why I didn't push beyond that.
