It was amazing. At first I didn't want to go, but I'm glad I did. Monday we had a JC high adventure trip. We went white water rafting on the Ocoee River. I got a t-shirt that says
Quote:
You could go over the falls and die.
You could slam against the rocks and die.
You could get pinned under and die.
OR YOU COULD STAY HOME AND FALL OFF THE COUCH AND DIE!

I loved it. My girls were awesome, too! I was over 4th level, and it meant a LOT to me that they actually looked up to me, and told me I was an awesome JC, and that I was cool and all that lovely jazz xd I had 2 Spanish-speaking girls, one from El Salvador, and one from Ecuador. They're both from the same ward as Barrett. Funny, no? Anyway, that gave me a chance to improve my Spanish speaking skills ^-^ and they liked that one of their JC's spoke their language (or, a little bit of it). Actually, the one from Ecuador got up and bore her testimony, and part of it she said in Spanish, and I got to sit there and translate for the people around me, hehe. Yeah, so the past week was AMAZING and I'm so grateful I was able to go. 3nodding Too bad it was my last time, though. sad

That's really cool Echo! It sounds like you had an awesome experience! (Though Seebs and I still have to wait more than a month to go to our Girls Camp... :s )

And two of my brothers served a mission in El Salvador (one's there right now!), so i think it would be really cool to meet someone from there! Too bad nothing quite that exciting happens up in boring ol' GB Wisconsin Stake Girls Camp...

But I'm glad you had a great time! See now, isn't camp awesome? ^^

I miss camp so much. I hope I get called to help organize it one day. Organizing would be a pain but I loved camp so, so much. Gotta share the love!

Glad to hear you had a good time. Rafting? RAFTING? Aw, man! Can I join your ward?

*singing* I'm a little acorn round...

If you joined my stake, you could. It wasn't just a ward thing. Y'know, Barrett said he was going to come kidnap me today (since I'm back from camp), and I've talked to him, but not for long, and he's not here. Oh, well. *runs off to e-mail him*

It's my last year of camp this year. crying i'm going to be a YCL over 3rd years, and I am pretty excited. Last year I was with the first years, and I absolutely loved it! They look up to you for everything, and you get to teach them everything they need to know about camp. I had a girl with autism last year, and it was really a blessing, because I really learned to love different types of people.

We had to certify for cooking, and the camp cook gave us instant meals, and so we just had some girls fetch water, some turn on the stove, and everybody else had to take turns stirring the food once the water was boiling, and then we signed them off.

Then when we were certifying for knot tying, this twelve-year-old girl starts tying nooses like a pro, and giggling, and it was kind of weird. We all got twizzler's for it, and she made a twizzler's noose.

And then one of my girls got really attached to me, and followed me everywhere, but I didn't mind so much. I called her Mud because on the first day of camp I asked her what her name was, and that's what she told me, so even though her name is Chrystal, I called her Mud the whole week, and she called me Mamma Dearest.

I could just go on about Girls' Camp. One more story:
I don't know how many of you do this, but to claim an item from the lost and found you must get up in front of everyone and do the squirrely dance and sing the squirrely song. My first day of camp I knew no one, and I couldn't find my sister, so I just kind of left her lunch sitting on a table. Well, my mom had put my name on the lunch bag, so on my first day of camp ever I had to squirrely and I was so scared! Thankfully, my sister went up with me, or I might have cried. it was really embarrassing.

Oh! I just remembered about a million other camp stories, like my dad proposing to my mom at camp, or having the whole stake presidency squirrely, or the big 4th year overnight hike... But I will write them later.

LemonBooya just said something that reminded me... for those of you who are unfamiliar with the term "JC," it means Junior Counselor. It's the same thing as a YCL, or Youth Camp Leader. 3nodding

@Kat: That's awesome! The next most exciting thing that will happen to me this summer will be EFY at the end of July. I get to fly out to Provo on my own, and be amidst tons of people I've never met before in my life. Actually, it's quite exciting, because I'll be able to test my acting skills. Eh, I never fell for Snipe hunting, actually xp

@Yuri: Yeah, my partner's group from last year wasn't all that great, but this year they were so nice, and everything, which, as I think I said, was very odd, because they were 4th level. Yeah, we're by a lake, and can go swimming, paddle-boating, or canoeing. The bike thing sounds like it sucked...

My dad is the stake president, so he always comes to camp for a day or two. My second year my mom in the stake YW, so she was at camp. Well, my dad never technically proposed to my mom...they just kind of had a mutual understanding that they were going to get married. My mom never got an engagement ring, either. So the head YCL's found out, and they said something like, "Hey, President Hansen! We hear you never actually proposed to your wife!" And then of course, every girl there went nuts, and started cheering, so my parents go up in front of everybody, and my dad gets on one knee, and says, "Vick, I love you. Will you marry me?" And then my mom kinda does this "I dunno...Let me think...OKAY!" thing. All the girls went crazy going "Ooh! Ahh! Sigh! How cute!" And my sister and I, mostly me though, were like, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" It was way embarrassing. My mom got an engagement ring for her birthday that year. They had already been married something like 18 years. UGH.

The year before that when the stake presidency came to camp, some girls somehow managed to steal one item from each of them, and we made them squirrely in front of the entire camp. My mom has a picture of my dad shaking his bushy tail at girls' camp.

HAHA! Nice! I don't have anything really exciting... but this time, during the Night Walk (it's supposed to be a spiritual thing for the girls, that the JC's carry out the first night of camp; each JC has a part, that they either memorize, or read; this takes part on a portion of the hiking trail in the woods, at night, hence: night walk) Brittany and I were standing beside each other (our parts went together), and we kept seeing these little blue/green balls of light, floating around. They were sort of freaky, so Britt and I were like "what are those?" and I said, "well, maybe they're fireflies."
B: "No! They can't be, they're not blinking!"
me: "Okay... then maybe they're spirits."
B: "No! That's even freakier..."
me: "You're right. Maybe they're fairies/sprites... but they're too mischevious, and we don't want them bothering us..."
B: "Then what are they?"
me: "Mutant firefiles. They're fireflies that drank the lake water."
Both ensue in laughter.

Yah the Girls Cap my stake goes to does the ost and found thing, but the YCLs choose what they do. It is funny even the leaders do it.

I had a great year at camp last year. It was really fun.We went to Camp Quawawna 9don't really know how to spell it). Has anyone else gone there? it in Caifornia.

We do this tradtions thing that the Ycls "tortue" the 4th years. One of the main events was that the 4th years had to eat spagetti with there hands. It was so funny!

I love Camp. I;m going soon, rofl rofl rofl
