He'd all but crawled on watery knees to the bedchamber, gasping for lungs that had forgotten to breathe. The air they took almost sickened him. Time, immense time....he could remember enough to scent the decay. He had fought the urge to use his great curving horns to headbutt away the coarse, simple human somewhat successfully on the way. Closing the door sharply in her face was just as effective.

His single smoldering eye squeezed shut as he slid to the large circular bed and sank in, the willpower that had forced his footsteps flagging at last.

He tried to focus that control instead on his thoughts. His Kithain....he could not scour her from his mind. He'd practically fallen on her as he'd roused, his strength reluctant to wake with him. The blunt, human features, her storm-gray eyes.....always their eyes were too small....goggling as she gaped dumbly to him, gripping to hold him upright. The nearness had broiled his nose with the hated, heavy odor of man.

Yet impossibly, her scent had carried a whisper of his own. A human. How many had tried to slay his folk, only to be slain by him in turn?

He knew the girl likely stood behind the closed door now with that same stupid, slack-jawed stare. He wanted to know where his line had passed into the bounds of those mortal ones, ask the guilty Fey what the Hells they'd been thinking, then send an arrow into what passed for their brain. His heart could not deny the bond, but his head damn sure would.

Still....no matter, truly. At least, not compared to the one truth he did know of this new Court.

He was awake. Somewhere, Spina lived.

Laniger made quite a debut back into the waking world. I'm almost embarrassed to stay here at the castle now. sweatdrop

But I haven't seen him since then. I've heard a lot....he almost began a mini war between the Courts his first week.

During that, he disappeared with the Oracle he'd Slept to hunt again, Spina. I hope he's all right. I'm sure I would feel it if he wasn't.

I wonder if I will ever see him again. I almost think I won't. It seems time wasn't on his side during his long slumber....

Seeno Evil
The fresh, wonderful air which flowed easily up Ursas nostrils satisfied her greatly. The start to the winter raw plunged down her throat, and chilled it ever so slightly. She didn't dimiss it in gulps, she rather enjoyed the sensation which clung to the back of her throat.

She admired some of the withering flowers as she past the rows and beds. She admired the new, which stood in the name of winter, big and strong. Ursa strolled, looking around intently.

But within a few moments, she'd already strayen too far off the castle with her interest. She'd never tested these boundaries before, but today, her flare for adventure flared more than ever! The ambition to escape, and go exploring just for today appealed much more than sitting in her chamber, reading and writing.

That wasen't what life was about.

But really - what was her meaning in life? Was she to help people, poorly and sick, forever? Or was she destined to rise somewhat higher? And achieve certain other ambitions? She certainly hoped.

Turning a cornering hedge, she rose her head ever so slightly. And gulped down hard. Finally dismissing the raw.

Laniger crouched unseen in the high branches, single amber eye appraising the ursine Fey, expression telling he was not impressed with what he saw yet again. Soft like the others, insensate to anything save her flowery little world.
