Well, they do sell all sorts of MMRPG items on ebay, be it Final Fantasy XI gils or Lineage II Epic Mounts; The online 'game' Second Life (imagine a 3d version of Gaia, nearly) works directly with real cash so that you buy new user avatars, land, vehicles, what have you. Same said with Gunbound or PangYa (I spent 2000yeni on a full PangYa outfit myself, and let me tell you, it's tres cute :3)
You know a level 60 FFXI character in full fancy armour is worth in excess of $200?
Everything has a price. Everything, even that "everything" is virtual and technically 'doesn't exist'. So there's nothing particularly reprehensible with selling a Gaia item, surely (except that it's against gaia's TOS).

oh yeah, sell for real money, gah, the only time I do an item for money exchange here on Gaia is the Donation item each month IF I like said item.

The point of getting good items is working for it i.e. posting on gaia or fighting monsters in an mmorpg. That's the point of the game, gives it challenge or an aim.

The point of getting items is to dress up your character.
They should give us everything for free and get rid of the gold system altogether.
Then you wouldn't have kids spending their birthday money on pixelated ebay auctions.

i still dont get why people will buy a character... if your playing the game.. the fun in it is building up your own unique character.
