I read the book recently, and my mom rented the dvd for me to see. The dvd was terrible. the grandmother wasn't scary, she was just a religious nut. And I don't remember the children killing their mother in the first book, like they did in the movie. Thoughts? 3nodding

My mother has been raving about this book for years, but sadly I have yet to read it. However, I wish to do so some day. Oi, my TBR list must be a mile long by now.
I did see the movie. I liked it. I thought the mother's death scene was interesting to say the least.

Ah, my sister and cousin were into VC Andrews when they were about my age. And at that same time I was about 12 and I'd seen bits and pieces of the FitA movie, and it seemed abit too creepy my little self, so I would have been too scared to read it then. I'm egar to try it out now.

I read it in Ninth or tenth grade and liked it. Sadly, I didn't get into the rest of the series. They did not kill the mom in the book, the movie also left out Chris and Cathy getting too close. Plus they were up there for years not monthes. I did see the movie recently and thought it was a bad interpretation of the book.

The movie was horrible...I'll leave it at that.
The book however incentuous was amazing. I actually read the two following and started on the one that revolves mostly around Bart. Yet another book, unfinished. Goal number one for the summer, finish all unfinished books.

Woah.. In the movie they killed their mother?! That's unreal.. That didn't happen until the 3rd book I believe. And in reality, they didnt' really kill her, although the daughter was somewhat the cause..
Anyways, I absolutely loved loved LOVED the books. I've read the entire series and would read them again but I cried everytime someone died..I was soo upset when they found out what truely happened to the male twin.. I cried and was so disgusted that I refused to pick up the book for a few days because I was afraid of what was going to happen next..

I loved FitA and liked the second book, but then I stopped reading the series. The movie was pretty good except for not being true to the book (the actors were great and I loved the music).
Why isn't there a poll option for people who read the book and saw the movie?

A lot of my friends read it in high school and went on to read a lot of other V.C. Andrews. I could never see the appeal. When I read the descriptions they all sounded the same, and all seemed full of incest (which is a major "ick" for me).
