I once read a story where the girl had just married a widower and he was all like "How old are you anyway?" "I am sixteen summers." "wow, you are younger then my youngest daughter."* That was a bit disturbing and the girl didn't really know what she was getting herself into. She just married him so her family wouldn't be kicked of their land. Its from The Raging Quiet By Sherryl Jordan. A beautiful story.
*My quote is not exact, I am going from memory.
But then there is was this great book where the age gap bothered the characters but not me "I was [word girl used to imply sex] before you were born"
Can't remember the word she used. They were cute together though.

I'm not a big fan of those kind of novels. The age thing really gets on my nerves. sweatdrop The plot has to be very good or very romantic for me to read the book, or else I'll just put it down.

The only times huge age gaps do not disturb me is in paranormal romance novels. Because the guy/girl are not human and may have an extended life span and may have lived for centuries.

Yes like that book I read where the guy was a vampire and therefor a few hundred years old, though his body was that of a sixteen year old.

Dewdew Often in Romance stories (and real life too) characters with huge age gaps fall in love with each other. Some of my friends think it is a bit gross wen the girl gets with a guy twice her age, but I think that it can be awfully romantic. What do you think? And do you know of anyone in real life who is married to someone way older/younger then them? Cathrine Zeta Jones married Michal Dougless. does that count??

Yes, there is a line that shouldnt be crossed. For instance, my boyfreind is 14 years older than me and i dont think that thats bad but its when they are closer to 20 or more yrs apart that it just grosses me out.

And do you know of anyone in real life who is married to someone way older/younger then them? my aunt's younger than my dad and her husband could be my grandpa by age XD XD but he's really nice and so much more genuinely expressive than the rest of that side of my family so I really like them... but I guess I didn't put all that much thought into the romantic-ness of them together Oo I don't think it's romantic, but I don't really think it's dirty either?
I think that 'huge' is relative though... I think it's cute for maybe like, a 15 and 19 year old... not *much* of a gap when you think about it later on... 25 and 29.... 35 and 39 but at that stage it's a 'huge' difference

I think it depends on how you were raised. My parents are 14 years apart in age and so to me that's "normal" -- I routinely date guys who are 10-15 years older than me and think nothing of it.
I think that it gets sketchy when the girl/boy are under 18 and may have been coerced into the relationship.

I like stories like this. I like it when there the same age but i like therse also. Mostly this type of thing is used so the older man can 'Teach' his younger lover how it is done. I my self like the ones set in the old english ton with older men and twenty- something woman that are susposed to be to old to find a suitible husband but they find love anyway.

I like stories with the men older then the women. I don't however like it when the herion is with a hero her father's age. That kind of disturbes me. I myself would prefer an older man, but that might be due to my parents relationship. My dad's like a year and a half younger then my mom. They however split some years ago. It's not that I don't think it'd work with someone younger, I'd just prefer someone who can teach me what I don't know, by way of the world I mean.
