okay, so my church has become corrupt lately and I think I'm going to stop going as soon as this school year's youth is over. Is that wrong, because I've always been told that church is the people, not the building, and as long as I still accept Jesus in my heart and I still pray and believe and help people, I'm still being a good Christian.

People are getting upset that I've decided to quit my church even though I've been through conformation and I've been one of the major people involved with everything. But seriously, my church is killing me slowly from the inside.

First this one guy there took total advantage of me. He's three years older than me and all his... attention.. was unwanted, but no one would do anything about it because it was a church and the church didn't have the right to punish it's members. Then our youth minister was forced to resign after coming onto our assistant youth minister(a 23 year old girl) who ran away to Montana because she couldn't stand the tension and memories here anymore. Now I'm just left here and everythign is falling apart.

Maybe this is more a confused rant, I don't know, but I really do want to know what your opinions are on whether or not good christians should regularly attend church.

Wow that is complicated. You should just pray and ask God where He wants you. It's not about where you want to be but where your supposed to be. Best thing to do is ask Him. It might take time for Him to answer but be patient. =)

Regarding the poll results, I want to say that church is the community God has built for us on Earth. Here, not only Christians must accept Jesus as our Saviour, helping those in need around us, but we must also try our best to fit into the church life. Other than praising God alone on our own, we must also worship together.

The Church isn't only one building. In my opinion, I'd just go to a different church. It seems like the church you are talking about is focused on something else instead of God. Our church is kinda' fallin' apart, too. But the difference is that we try to support one another instead ruin each other. As my dad told me, church should be a place where you grow and develop your faith, not for friend get togethers (though its' not illegal or anything). So, go search for a new youth group that'll help you! Good luck and I'll pray for you! blaugh

Personally I don't think Church is so incredibly important - IF you have people around you who are strong Christians that you can talk with, after all, that's basically the point of a Church and the community it provides.

Church is an important way of learning or understanding Gods word. You don't neccessarily have to stick with this church but I would advise you to go church never the less. You really should have daily walk with God in order to grow. It might be better to stay and help your youth group get back on the right tracks.

HAVE CHURCH IN YOUR HOUSE!!! sorry...but you can have lil bible study groups...just a thought, my church calls them small groups. also, if you dont like your church now...you could start looking for another, there IS more then one ^^ and with the dude taking advantage of you SHAME ON HIM. he should be...nvm, i'll say sumthing....n i'll regret it. if you REALLY wanna kno wa i was gonna say, you can pm me. but there will b vulgar language involved...but just because of 1 dude...tha shouldn stop you from going to church...i mean...you could just like..completly ignore him, if he tries to talk to you, turn your back and walk away, that way, you can avoid any conflict. i'm not sure i fully understand ur situation, so pm me n give me the details, and i'll try my best to help you. and lastly, pray over this, does God want you in church? or does he want you in ANOTHER church? you really should just give the whole situation to God, it'll pay off in the end...^^

If there is not an adequate church in your area, then no, going to church is not a prerequisite. However, if you do choose to stop attending church, you should be doubly on gaurd against the wiles of the Enemy, as the point of a church is to not only bring s deeper into the Word of God, but to hold us accountable to our actions.

To me, church is another place to worship and learn about God with others who believe. I dont go every Sunday. I go to a camp for a week in August.

Church is important because Christians study the word of God there, and without church or Christian influence, you'd be spiritually weak. surprised

But pray. heart

Some consider it to be a temple where you can go and worship others in comfort and be brought closer to God. If you are not in a comfortable environment, then you can't strength your relationship with God. My suggestion is to research other church's around you area. Visit them, attend them a few different times, get to know the people in them, and listen to the precher to examine his styles of sending God's Word. Chirstans should go to church, because it helps them move closer to God, and it renergizes your spirits. You can also be in an enviornment where people understand you and listen to your problems and they try and help you. Don't give up on church yet, find one that is right for you, and one that can help you grow in your relationship with God.
