Hmmm, what about particular monsters or NPCs with their own theme music? Or is that maybe a bit too theatrical?
Imagine if you will...
Adventuer: I open the door, what do I see?
DM: Just a moment... *puts on CD, moments later the stero is blaring out 'Iron Man' by Black Sabbath* ...you see a Iron Golem.

I have a friend who DMed for a while and always played a mix CD with Ozzy, AC/DC, and I think DMX on it. I'm going to incorporate all kinds of music and sound files into my campaign if I can.(and I intend to make flash animations of the best battles)

ok. I run very threat intensive games (at least offline) and so i use nightmare syndicate and SCA martial music for most of the BGM. March of Cambreadth also does wonders when we play out an open field battle. very -ose.
