-ekayu echimaryu- metocloud LearningtoBreath63 metocloud I wouldn't say that not attending church is bad. However, I believe that through attending church you get to hear more verses that you might not usually consider and then analyze them for yourself. However, I really wish that I attended a more open-minded church because though I often get good ideas from it, I feel like when I try to express it they cut me off. What type of church do you go to? Baptist... Do yall believe in speaking in tounges? Not in the least bit. Or in dancing. Or in raising hands in worship.

We do hymns. They believe in singing and music and such, just not in dancing to it, raising your hands in worship, or speaking in tounges. There are probably other rules I don't know about yet, but those are the main ones that I disagree with.

I will...after I leave the house. For now, this one has its purpose. Still, I can't wait to get back to a gospel church.

Heck, until I attended this church I couldn't imagine not doing those things at least in Youth Group. I know worship is more than just singing or dancing but when I want to dance around or raise my hands or speak in tounges it sort of deadens the whole church experience because I can't.

Our church doesn't dance, although some do raise their hands in worship...more so in the past though...
And we don't talk about speaking in tongues. sweatdrop
I do not know why.
I guess it's part of the Baptist General Conference's statement of beliefs. 3nodding

Unfortunately, yes. It is one of the core babtist beliefs that it is wrong to speak in tounges. The funny thing is that in the same chapter as the verses that they use to say it's wrong, Paul also says not to ban speaking in tounges. That's probably the reason it's not very talked about. Plus it is a rather controversial subject most of the time.
