"I'm home!" Kamira called, struggling through the door with a tightly packed bag, which she held gingerly, as if the contents were fragile--or she was simply afraid it would burst at the seams, a likely possibility.
"Finally!" Lee said, trotting into the room. "Feels like you've been gone for months. I thought you were only going to be gone for half an hour, hour tops?"
"I went shopping after I picked up Gyan at the Doctor's place," Kamira explained, setting the bag down gingerly so that it was leaning up against her desk. Once she was reasonably sure it wasn't going to tip she reached between her shirt and buttoned-up jacket to pull out a long, flat object, something like a large computer chip.
Lee twitched his nose curiously and moved forward for a closer look. "That's Gyan?" he asked, examing the chip. All of Kamira's recently acquired...well, children, for lack of a better word, hadn't been very childlike. So far, he was the first to have legs, albeit four of them. Still, family was family. "Can he talk? Hear?"
"No talking, but the Doctor said he might have limited senses. Something like a baby still in the womb, I guess." Kamira paused, unsure if that was clear. The young Triune was still technically a baby after all. "Basically treat him the same as Lore," she clarified, then glanced around the room speculatively. Where to put the newest family member...?
Lee lost interest in the conversation when he ran out of questions, and barely heard Kamira's explanation. He turned his attention to the bag she'd brought in, but to his disappointment it was full of books. There were some other miscellaneous items that didn't seem much more interesting, but mostly just books.
"I bought them for Gyan," Kamira said absently, noting Lee's disappointment. "The Doctor said it'd be his favorite thing to do." They were actually mainly for the Kybernetika, though admittedly it'd been a good chance to buy books for herself, ones Gyan wouldn't be ready to read for awhile. "I'll have to find a place for those too I suppose...," she mused thoughtfully, wondering if there'd be enough room on her bookcase for them all.
At the sudden thought, her eyes lit up. Of course, perfect!
--- Kamira made one last adjustment with Gyan's positioning, then stood back and took it in, finally satisfied. "You put him on the bookshelf?" Lee questioned after a long moment.
"Well, yeah. The Doctor guy said he liked books, so even if he can't actually read them right now, he should at least have them nearby. I know I would," Kamira explained.
"Yeah..." Lee agreed dryly, glancing into Kamira's bedroom. Several stacks of books were crowded around the bed, ones she'd finished reading and hadn't bothered to put up yet, ones she was setting aside for later, ones she was currently reading, and several Lee had never actually seen her touch. He was quite convinced she couldn't sleep without the suffocating smell of paper. Really, it was no wonder she'd chosen the bookworm, though Lee secretly hoped he'd take better care of them. It'd save on money at least.
"Alrighty," Kamira said, interrupting his thoughts. "Now, to put everything else away. Then I'll write a journal entry about the first day. Then," She yawned widely. "Bed. Bed sounds good. Give me a han--er, help me out Lee."

Dear Journal
Well, one more inanimate family member was welcomed in today. At the moment he's a computer chip, but as soon as his body is ready(he's an robot, or an android, or something, I'm not entirely clear on the details), he'll be up and walking about. Should be ready in a week, the Doctor said.
I probably shouldn't have accepted another responsibility, not without a better source of income, but I've been thinking about re-opening the shop anyway...another kid could be some good motivation. Anyway, the Doctor guy said his basic personality was that of a bookworm(works out perfect for me), so I decided to make a comfortable spot on the bookshelf.
I also took the chance to stop by the bookstore on the way back(I had to pick up a couple of things for Lore anyway), and bought some new stories. A lot of kid stuff, obviously, and maybe a few things that will probably be beyond him at first...ah, well. Not like they'll go unused while they wait anyway. Heh.
I'll read to him a bit tomorrow(he's supposed to have limited senses, it'll probably be good for him), but tonight it's getting late, so I'm off to bed.
G'Night

This, Kamira thought, snapping out the picnic blanket, was why she liked fall so much. Warmer than winter, cooler than summer, and dryer than spring. The perfect middle, she decided, smoothing out patched fabric before tossing her bag onto it. And the perfect day to spend reading out in the fresh air.
"Don't go too far Lee," she called, seeting herself comfortably on the blanket. The baby Triune barely acknowledged her with a nod as he ran off to explore, apparently already over his guilt at leaving Lore behind, though at least he'd promised to give her a full report when they returned home. Kamira sighed and adjusted Gyan's positioning. She still wasn't entirely sure how his sense worked, so she'd worried about how to make him comfortable and able to hear, but at last she settled on just leaning him against the bag.
The settling in complete, she pulled out the first book of many(some she recognized from Earth, some she knew as Gaian stories, and others she assumed were brought by travelers and settlers of other worlds that she hoped she'd be able to decipher) she planned to read aloud today, a standard Dr. Seuss book, good for kids and(though she'd never admit it) one of her favorite authors to read aloud. Secretly the redhead was glad that she'd found such an out of the way area; at the moment Kamira didn't really feel like explaining to every passerby why she was apparently reading to herself.
"Okay, here we go," she began softly, sitting back. "Green Eggs and Ham. A classic..." --- I knew it, Lee thought triumphantly, watching his snoozing mother sprawled out among several scattered books. Reading is as
boring as I figured it would be, he decided. It'd have to be, for her to just fall asleep like that. The fact that his mother had been up till at least midnight every night for the past few weeks working on various projects didn't cross his mind as nother possible reason. At the moment he just figured Gyan must be really bored, and decided to be a good big brother and help him out.
Quietly he inched his way over, making sure not to wake Kamira, and gently picked up Gyan with his mouth, careful with his teeth. "Exploring the real world is a lot more fun than reading about it," he muttered, though it came out more like: Exoring da weal woold i a yot ore hun an reeing bout it. He inched his way off the blanket again, watching Kamira for any movement, and once he was safely on the grass again raced off with Gyan. Kamira murmered in her sleep and rolled over, resting for inevitable blow-up later once she realized they were gone.
