Sarah Dessen's main character always has to take a period of time to learn a life lesson, grow up some more, and fall in love with a boy. Usually over the summer. I like it, but jeez...

OliviaFalconer Alienarose Iris Johansen's formula generally involves a heroine who is forced to be protected by a scoundrel Han-Solo type "bad" boy who's a good guy. And the heroine always hates him in the beginning, but loves him by the end. Sounds more like a standard romance formula.
That's what irritates me about romance novels. The same stuff over and over and over again. I wished they'd get creative. =(
