Okay guys, this is really exciting. This month, I will be part of the Kentucky Baptist All-State Youth Choir!!

It was a tough audition. I'm a Soprano 1, and there were several things I had to do.

1.) Sing a song from the hymn book.
2.) Tonal Memory (The pianist would play a chord, then four individual notes. I had to repeat those four notes back from memory using my voice with no accompanyment.)
3.) Sight sing several lines a capella. (These lines were not played through by the pianist first; I was given a chord and the first note. Each line had about six or seven notes.)
4.) Sight sing the alto part to a hymn. (I was given a chord, and the pianist played through the alto line once for me. Then, I had to sing the alto part while all parts were being played on the piano.)


Yeah, it was a rough audition; but I made it! Just thought I'd share this with my fellow choir nerds. :3 Hee hee. I'm so excited. We'll be spending a week touring around at different churches and stuff.

So, have any of you ever had to audition this rigorously? If so, did you make it? Any thoughts on all this? I'd love to hear them! ^_^

I've never been through that tough of an audition. I wouldn't get in. I'm terrible at sight-reading hymns. Don't know why. I have done all of the pieces of the audition before, just not all at once. The auditions for Chamber Singers in high school involved sight singing a capella, my audition for my college choir involved the tonal memory, and my audition for my college chamber choir had sight singing the alto part in a small ensemble. Of course, I'm an alto 1, so I'm used to finding the alto part. I'll bet that'd be rough as a Soprano 1.

But congratulations! That sounds like an intense audition and I'm so glad you made it through!
