hello there, i'm new as well to the IoDM and currently questing and i'll try and give you a hand on everything thats going on, i know it can be overwhelming at first too.
ok, a Mule is what they call your alternate characters and/or logins that you want to be a part of the fun at IoDM.
one of the things you've probably noticed is that after the primary info thats required ( Username, Mule, Serums ect) most people use the rest of their quest thread to make a profile of the character they want to get a Serum for,
Name, Age, Height, Weight, eyecolor, hair, Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Past History,
and How they arrive on the island
are a few things people list for their character to give others a better idea of everything thier character is about.
another thing is people also provide info on the serums they have choosen and why they would like those Serums involving those particular species.
People also sometimes add in info on the species they've picked, which is good incase you've decided to quest for some critter not many have heard of or don't know much about.
Now the way to actually get into and start the RP on the island is to get a Serum, either though what they call a flat sale, or an auction. Flat sales are good for people starting out and don't have much for funds. Auctions are usually for more rare and exotic serums, and are much more expensive.

So after you've decided a couple of possible serums/animals to try and quest for, talk in the main thread and get to know people and read over all the rules and info, and also read up on some of the other players that are already on the island to get an idea whats going on. then its just patience to be able to get the eventuall serum so you can join in smile
