Snapping twigs had been the only sign that the steadily growing female was even present. Breathing had been quiet, movement had been slow, and every hair on her body was as still as they could possibly be. And yet, a simple mistake ruined it all. It wasn't such a loss though. The dark pelted wolf had successfully gotten quite close. As the young fawn sprang at its mother's side into the safety of the brush Meskeet lunged from her shallow hole in the grass and up after the heels of her prey.

Deer had never before been a target and so the adolescent had taken ectra pride in her small successes. A loud whispering had flitted through her mind and broken her concentration as her paw was raised mid-step. So many jabbering voices these days! Angrily the wolf continued after the deer swerving and leaping in an attempt to keep pace.

A cluster of trees appeared infront of her as she dove from the top of a rock and Meskeet veered sideways to avoid them. Curling into a loose ball as she hit the ground it took a moment for the darting birds to escape the area before she slunk unhappily to her feet.

Her meal had escaped. Blasted things. She wasn't hungry anyway. Muttering and cursing under her breath she shook her fur free of all dirt and leaves clinging to it. Covered in nature. Splendid.

Those birds quickly fled away as a horrible noise came from the forest. I was the sound of two high speed, heavy objects crashing into eachother. That and a blood curdling screaming eminating from the depths of the trees, the sound of a short struggle, and then the sound of a pleased grunt. For a wolf who never chased anything in her life was currently vacationing in the forest, feeding herself to the limit, storing fat.

The most convienent thing had happened, she had just been looking for a deer trail when she heard the noise of a chase and positioned herself close. A tackle and a headbutt always ended the battle quickly, and then going for the deathroll with the throat. For the sake of as all things, convienence, she dragged the lifeless corpse with easy out of the forest. Volgin might of caught the scent of the adolescent female had she not had such poor senses. She might of even seen her, had it not been for shoddy vision as well. Instead she sat not 30 feet from the young wolf, tearing at the corpse vigorously.

She also didn't worry about anywolf or bear or beast trying to take her prey. For Volgin was a massive creature, she had genetically traded looks, senses, and intelligence for her collosal size. Some wolves boasted to be huge evil creatures. She didn't boast. She knew she was the biggest wolf in the forest. Unfortunately, that also required her to eat as much as she could. Not that she minded, because, boy did dead animal taste GREAT.

Had Laoghaire moved a second later, she would have been run down by the would-be escapee deer. As it was, the fawn's hooves nearly collided with her skull. Leaping away, she turned in time to see a colossal wolf nearly twice her size barrel forward, hitting the fawn with her head and tackling the creature with all her might -- which was considerable.

The deer was dead within seconds and the wolfess immediately began gorging herself. There was no other way to describe it -- Laoghaire, as a petite wolf, was a petite eater. This wolf was anything but.

She stood there, unsure of whether to keep on going or stop and greet the stranger, and as of yet unaware of the adolescent female nearby.

Blinking in surprise was the only think Meskeet found herself doing for the first few moments as what had to be another wolf barreled in front of her and started eating the deer. Her deer. But, this wolf could have it. Sharing is caring. Like she'd even try to get some deer. Psh. Damn.

The scent of yet another wolf nearby made Meskeet uncomfortable. This made it quite apparent just how arrogent she had become. Isolated. Hah.

Meskeet was not one to just let others have her prey, or act unbothered by so many others around. Of course this would have to be an exception.

Softly she began to back up through the brush. If this huge as heck female hadn't noticed her already then who was to say she would now?

Thank god. Sometimes wolves tried to argue with her and tell her that she shouldn't of killed this or that. Or they whine that she's being unfair, that she didn't need all that food, and that they were there first. That got old so fast. Usually it ended up with her sitting on whoever decided to gripe and groan about it while stuffing her face.

The 'portly' female's pupiless eyes sweeped over her surroundings for the first time since she drove her face into the caracasses hide. Even with poor vision she saw the smaller Laoghaire. So small. Tiny little thing. Reminded her of one of her sisters. A tongue that had gotten used to being covered in the red of mammals dragged across her chops. The white tooth mimicking markings along her mouth were quickly made to be crimson, the sheer white ruined.

Brow raised and the other fell as she looked to the other side. Another female, although this one was an adolescent. Tiny little thing too. Volgin momentarily considered eating one of them, the thought being rather fond in her head. But no, that'd be enroaching in lands that weren't hers. However, if these two were expecting her to share they were sorely mistaken. Unfortunately, Volgin was slow, and when she saw Meskeet trying to sneak off, it was all too suspicious. More then being suspicious, the horse-like female was having a better time being a bully.

Volgin didn't stand, she remained where she was, leaning over her kill. But her hackles raised and those eerie eyes snapped onto the younger female. It was an obvious threat.
