A quest is more something that you put all your effort toward in the aim to reach a goal (in our case certain items, amounts, etc.), perhaps with benefactors helping you on the way. A charity would be using donated items and gold to help people who are new (and in some cases themselves). I guess a quest could be a charity, and a charitable aim could be a quest that one has, but they aren't always the same thing.
Now that I have sufficiently confused people, I will disappear! *poof*
