Ahh, see, this is technically not a bass. The company, Warr Guitars, is famous for their tapstyle instruments. You
can play it like a bass/guitar, but it's main purpose is to tap.
Here's a video for the Chapman Stick, an instrument made specifically for tapping (Similar to the Warr that was posted, but you can ONLY tap on this due to a dampening system):
http://www.chapmanstick.com/method/greg_howard2.wmvThe strings will be in fourths, though I know people who'd rather downtune a lot. A person I know, who wants a bass tuned F#BEADG would put a Hipshot detuner on the F# so it can go to low E (One octave below a normal low E!). After a certain point, the human ear can't pick up the note itself (Low C#, anyone?), and only picks up overtones.
The highest strung bass that was ever referred to as a "bass," well...I'm not sure who made it but it's played by a guy named Gary...Chapman, and it has 11 strings. I know that 10 of them are tuned C#F#BEADGCFBb but I'm not sure of the 11th...
I have my 7 tuned BEADGCF but I know people who'd love F#BEADGC, or C#F#BEADG.
