tsshark sorry to tell you, nathan, but you are totally wrong. if your surroundings don't provide you, it's really hard to be the way you believed. she had faith, but it was taken from her violently, when they told her that she wasn't jewish, and insulted her. i believe that it wasn't the first time that they insulted her. it's really hard to keep her confidence in her faith when she is in this kind of distress ( internal distress , that is), so she turned to the easiest way, nevertheless, the dumbest, the way of running away... First of all, you don't say "Your wrong", you say "I think otherwise". Get that into your head. Someone with wholesome belief runs away because someone told her she isn't jewish? Excuse me? On the contrary, she should convert just to disprove their claim. But run away? Apparently, she didn't have real faith to begin with if that's the choice she took. I'm sorry Tomer, but religion isn't surroundings providing, it's just you and G-d. Even if the whole world would ridicule you, you still should go long and strong. I know a few people that put up with such things, and still go quite strong. I hope you see the meaning behind my words 3nodding

darkphoenix1247 yes it is! Similes are comparisons using the words "like" or "as." "Life can be described as a road, along which......" blaugh except i wasn't comparing anything. i was replacing one term with another, and giving examples of how it applies to life. mind you, as i said, i didn't come up with any of that (bar some of the analogies)

I hope you see the meaning behind my words 3nodding my grandfather (may his neshama have an aliya) survived 3 camps and two death marches. with his yiddeshkeit intact. so did many others. and there's only one differance that seperates him and those like him from those who "lose faith". yeiras shemayim. "awe/fear of heaven", for lack of a better word.

darkphoenix1247 Are fear/awe the same world in Hebrew? neutral A bit of a misnomer there, isn't it? sweatdrop It's only when used to describe "fear of heaven". We should understand that it isn't the fear alone that drives the belief, it's the awe and respect that is derived from that.
