[--Introduction:--] This is just where I'm going to post my story so my friends can see it (it's a hell of a lot of writing, so please forgive me if some of the grammar, spelling, etc. is off). Just so everyone knows, MCR is for the band My Chemical Romance[although that's a big duh, I'm just explaining all of the bands here], BD is for my band: Beautifully Decayed, and GC is for the band Good Charlotte.
Also, there's no real plot going on here. Just a lot of small sections. I write this as an escape from my hellish reality, and my friends like to read this. So, yeah. Enjoy.
The rating is PG-13 because there is some swearing and kissing. Nothing past. And, yeah, two of the band members from MCR hook up with the main characters, but I really don't care. Again, this is just my escape from reality.
[--Rules:--] -I'd very greatly appreciate it if you didn't post comments here. -PM me your comments and I'll add them below. -Please, just don't post anything.
[--Comments:--]SystemOfaDani Hey hun, I usually don't read fanfics but seeing as yours and mine are the only ones in the subforum as of yet, I read it. To be honest, at first I didn't like it. But as I read more, it grew on me. You're a talented writer, I just think you may have moved things too fast, ya know? Like one minute, they're friends and two seconds later they're practically in love. I know my story moves fast too but I wrote it about a year ago and I've learned from my mistakes. Just my thoughts *shrugs* Keep up the good work VampiresXAnimeXMusic Hi. That was a really good story. I really enjoyed reading it. I can't wait untill you add more! Hardcore Mosher Your story is amazing, it's one of the best I've read. You have incredble talent!

Section One:
"Wake up, Evera."
"Evera, come on, get up."
"Please, Evera, get up."
The persistant male gave an exasperated sign.
"Evera, get up now or your CDs are going out the window."
Evera's nearly invisible eyes popped open. Dark burn marks circled her lids, making her grey eyes difficult to see. Jerking to a sit position, her black hair fell around her naturally sheet-white face.
The man, Gerard, gave a chuckle. "I figured that would get you up."
Narrowing her eyes, Evera's brown lips moved to simply state, "You're evil."
"Nah." Gerard pat her now-bent knee. "I just know how to wake you. C'mon, did you really think I'd get rid of your CDs?"
"No," she said bluntly, then folded her arms over her chest. "You'd keep them for yourself."
"Of course." He grinned.
Evera yawned. "So what did you need so badly that you had to get me up for?"
Gerard chuckled nervously. "I just, uh, had a bad dream and, um, you died in it. I, um, just wanted to make sure you were alright."
Yawning again, Evera leaned against the window that revealed the still-pitch-black sky.
"So, umm..." He smiled sheepishly. "You're okay now, right?"
Evera nodded, then yawned again.
"So, um..." Gerard spread his arms out. "Hug?"
"Sure," Evera said tiredly, then closed her eyes as she spread her arms out. Gerard leaned into her and tightened his arms around her back.
"Okay then," he whispered, pulling back. "See ya in the morning."
Evera opened her eyes fully, and to her surprise, her heart skipped a beat. He was smiling at her with such a kindness that her face turned a pale red.
After a moment, Gerard turned his back to her and walked off, leaving Evera to look at his tank-top and boxer-shorts.
Closing her eyes again, she couldn't stop her mind from lingering on Gerard. She smiled a little. Maybe something could happen with him...

Section Two:
A few weeks later, morning came too early, as usual, and Evera jerked awake to the sound of a pan clanking to the ground.
"Will you keep it down?!" Christa's voice came to Evera's ears in a hushed tone. "Evera and Mikey are still asleep!"
"Pfft!" Gerard's voice was also hushed. "All you're worried about is your precious Mikey!"
"What?!" Chris's face turned a pale red, almost the same shade as the blood-red streaks in her semi-black hair. "Evera is my best friend! I don't want you waking her!"
Mikey stretched as he tiredly moseyed to the kitchen area of the tour bus. "All you have to worry about is waking her now."
"Don't bother," Evera said while yawning. She dangled her feet off the side of the window-sill she had fallen asleep on.
Chris fake-smacked Gerard. "Klutz!"
"Yeah, well..." He had no good come-back.
Evera plopped down on the couch. Looking up, she saw Mikey give Chris a loving hug. She sighed. Not many people knew that she missed being loved. She never talked about her last love. It hurt too much to talk about.
Gerard sat down next to her, showing his famous nervous smile. "So...um, we have no food."
"Greaaat." Evera's stomach rumbled. "Oh, well. I could stand to lose a little weight."
"What?!" Gerard scanned over her thin body. "Are you ******** joking me?"
"No." She stared at him in disbelief. "I've gained three pounds since the tour started."
Making a face, Gerard took her wrist with his thumb and pointer finger. He showed her that his finger and thumb touched, then shook her wrist in the air. "If that's overweight, then I must be obese."
Evera rolled her eyes. "Yeah, sure. You have muscle." She rolled up his red, button-up shirt sleeve.
Sighing, Gerard took her hands in his own. "I'm worried. It scares me to think that you'd stop eating because of three pounds. I don't want you going on a crash diet."
"I'm not crash dieting!" Evera shouted too loudly and Chris and Mikey looked over at her. "I'm not ! I just don't want breakfast! Is that so bad?!"
"I'm sorry, Evera." Gerard rubbed his thumb across her knuckles. "Would you rather we drop the subject?
Evera nodded. "Yes."
Mikey smiled, looking out the window. "We'll be at the studio soon."
"Yeaaaaah!" Chris mused. "Then you'll have to learn your choreography for Helena!" She offered a toothy grin to Evera.
"So? How bad can it be?" Evera asked in reply.
Gerard looked off to the side, picking at his hair. "Andrea says it's going to be a lot like the video."
Evera cringed. She always hated when guys that she was close to-- not even counting the ones she had liked-- said another girl's name. "So what am I doing? And who's Andrea?"
"You'll be playing Helena, basically," Mikey said.
"And Andrea is the choreographer," Gerard stated, glancing at Evera.
"Oh," was all Evera could think to say. She felt stupid now. Gerard probably didn't even like her and here she was being jealous of a girl just because he said her name. She looked down at her hands.
Gerard looked at her worriedly. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah." She offered her best smile.
"Here we are," Mikey said, sitting beside Gerard.
"Really?" Gerard stood up and pushed back a curtain. "That was fast."
Chris darted down the steps to the tour bus door, then turned back to the others. "Come ooooon!"
Evera stood slowly. Gerard looked back at Evera. She had been looking thinner to him...was she crash dieting? Nah, Evera's smarter than that...

Section Three:
"And then you come over here..." Andrea instructed Evera. Andrea was amazingly beautiful. Not any of that "hidden beauty" stuff-- her's was obvious. She was an average height, nicely tanned, with shoulder length, beach-blonde hair, and ocean-colored blue eyes. Evera couldn't understand why Gerard didn't go for her, considering the only other females he'd had contact with were herself-- her black nail-polish, pale-skinned self--, Kalira-- whom always spent time with Benji on the other bus--, and Chris, taken by Mikey.
Gerard flopped down in the chair next to Mikey, sweat dripping down his face as he took a giant gulp from his water bottle.
"Hey, Gerard, have you noticed anything with Ev?" Mikey whispered to his brother.
"You mean the fact that she's seemed to be depressed lately? Yeah, noted." Gerard took another sip of water.
"What do you think it is?" Mikey folded his arms. He loved Evera like a little sister. "Maybe it's 'cause Valentine's Day is coming up."
"Maybe." Gerard shrugged. "But she's never acted like the kind of girl to be concerned with that stuff."
"But last V-Day she wasn't the only girl in the band without a boyfriend."
"It's so weird, though. You'd think she'd be the first with a boyfriend."
"Instead of being offended and asking 'What's wrong with my Christa?', I'm simply going to pose the annoying brotherly question of 'You like her, don't you?'"
"What? What makes you say that?" Gerard's face turned paler than normal.
"One, I'm your brother, we have one brain wave, remember? And two, c'mon, you're 29, not some 6th grader that's going to be mocked and rideculed for liking the gothic singer of Decayed."
"Yeah, I suppose..."
"Gerard, come," Andrea ordered. As Gerard stood and started walking over, Evera stood still. Her hands were cupped together in front of her chest as if to be holding an invisible bouquet.
"At this point in this song, you just finished 'When both our cars collide', okay?" Andrea asked.
Gerard nodded, his hands in his back pockets as he faced Evera's back-side.
"Now, instead of a casket, Evera will fall into your arms," Andrea announced and Evera's heart skipped a beat. "Now, this has to be fast and smooth. Before the third verse, Evera set her microphone on the stage floor and she'll need to share yours. Munch will eventually come up and hand it to her, but until that point, you're sharing."
Gerard nodded again.
"Okay, hold out your arms..." He did as she told. "Evera? Fall."
Evera let gravity take her and she fell into Gerard. Her head hit his chest nicely, and she didn't want to move. Knowing she had to, Evera stood and faced Gerard.
"Good, perfect. Now, try again, faster."
They did as they were told. Then again, and again, and again, until Evera began to feel at home and welcome in Gerard's arms.
"Now let's try this," Andrea walked over and turned on the sterio. She skipped to that section of the song, and they practiced the fall. Again and again, over and over until they had it nailed to the music.
"From the beginning now," Andrea ordered. Gerard moved to his spot in front of the mirror, acting as if it was a stage.
Evera's heart raced. This was the first time she would sing in front of Gerard on tour. Walking toward the wall, she nearly lost her balance. She couldn't stop shaking.
Finally, she heard the music start. Gerard's heavenly voice rang in her ears. "Long ago...just like the hearse you die to get in again. We are...so far from you."
The music pumped up and Evera turned around, darting toward her spot on the stage. Her voice blasted into the microphone, "Burning! Just like the match you string to incinerate the lives of everyone you know."
Evera followed her steps around the stage, making them look natural and filling them with passion.
"Wow..." Mikey muttered. "She's done this more than once, hasn't she?"
Christa appeared behind him and jumped into the chair to his right. "Yup." She grinned. "We've been a band for six years. Well, seriously a band."
"I know." He looped an arm around her neck. "But I didn't realize she was quite that skilled."
The music died down to a soft hum. Gerard pressed his hands together around his microphone, bent his head down, and swayed back and forth as Evera sat down her microphone.
Following the steps of Helena, Evera danced along the floor as Gerard sang, "Can you...hear me? Are you...near me? Can we pretend...to leave and then...we'll meet again..."
Evera turned to Gerard.
"When both..."
She spun a few times, trying to get to him.
"Our cars..."
She faced her back to him.
"Collide!"
She fell nicely into his arms. She then turned and sang into his microphone. He held the mic with one hand and touched her back with the other.
"What's the worst thing I can say? Things are better if I stay. So long, and good-night. So long and good-night," The two screamed into the mic.
Andrea came up behind Evera and handed her the microphone. Evera touched Gerard's arms and pushed away from him.
"Well, if you carry on this way! Things are better if I stay. So long, and good-night. So long and good-night..." They sang, holding out the last note.
The song died and there was a short pause. Then everyone clapped, but Evera didn't notice. She was watching Gerard watch her. His beautiful hazel eyes stared into hers, and she felt as if she couldn't breathe.
After a few heavy breaths, Gerard spoke, "Good job, Ev."
"Thanks," She said, smiling. "You did good, too."
"Okay, good job, guys. I think you're done for today," Andrea stated. "The concert's in four days, right?"
"Yes," Mikey nodded.
"Okay, then I'll be at the hall around noon to go over this once more." She showed off her sweet smile.
Everyone nodded, then turned and walked toward the door after gathering their things. Climbing onto the tour bus, Mikey decided it would be fun to goof-off in Central Park. So, the bus headed off for the park.

Section Four:
Gerard and Evera sat on a bench, over-looking Mikey and Chris having a tickle fight some odd distance away. Kalira, Munch, Bob, Frank, Ray, Benji, Billy, Joel, Paul and Dean played a huge game of tag near-by.
Gerard gave Evera a worried look. She still seemed unhappy, and it hurt him to see the girl he cared so much about like this. He brushed a strand of hair gently out of her face and behind her ear.
She turned her head, her grey eyes looking up at him. Rubbing her cheek with his finger, he asked her quietly, "Are you okay?"
She nodded. "I'm fine," the lie slipped out of her lips much too easily.
"No, you're not..." he tilted his head to the side. "What's bothering you?"
"Nothing is," she insisted.
Part-way through the game of tag, Benji tackled Kalira down to the ground. From there, he pulled her onto him, and stared up at the sky, holding her tightly in his arms.
"Evera..." he refused to believe her words. "Does it have to do with Valentine's Day?"
"I don't want to talk about this." She stood, taking his jacket sleeve. "Let's play tag."
Gerard nodded, then stood. He looked at the now tired group, all laying in the grass. "I guess that means I'm it?"
Evera smiled. "I guess so." She darted off.
Smiling, Gerard took off after her.
"Hey, you're late!" Joel shouted. "The game's over."
"Maybe for you guys," Gerard tossed back. Reaching Evera, he grasped her wrist, then yelled, "You're it!" before turning in the opposite direction and running.
"Hey!" Evera spun around and bolted after him.
After several moments, Evera fell behind. Gerard teased, "C'mon, you're never gonna catch up."
"Sure I am! I've almost gotchyou!" She shot back, grinning.
"Yeah, right." Gerard glanced back.
"I'll get you! You know I will-- aaah!" She fell to her side, holding her ankle. "Oww! Ouch!" She winced, rocking back and forth as she held her ankle.
Gerard made a dead stop and turned around. He knelt down by Evera and touched her ankle. "You okay?"
She grinned. Standing up, she touched his shoulder. "You're it!" She shouted as she took off.
"Why you little--!" Gerard got to his feet and ran, a smile on his face as he laughed.
"C'mon, slow poke!" She taunted.
"I've almost gotchya!" He hugged her from behind. The two fell to the ground, Gerard over Evera.
On her back, Evera stared up at Gerard's eyes. There was a moment of silence, as if they had no clue of what to do.
Swallowing softly, Gerard whispred, "Tag."
Their heart-beats quickened. Gerard finally bent his head down and pressed his lips against hers. Evera slid her hands around his back, and suddenly she was flying. Everything dissappeared, and only Gerard remained.
After a few moments, Gerard pulled away. He rested his forehead against hers and looked into her eyes. "I've wanted to do that for so long," he whispered.
"So have I..." She whispered back, recalling the night a couple weeks ago when she first saw her feelings for him.
Gerard stood up, bringing her with him. He slid his arms loosely around her waist and looked seriously into her eyes.
"Next Tuesday is Valentine's Day. On that day, everyone is going to eat at [insert fancy restaurant name here], and I was hoping you'd let me escort you there," he spoke softly. "I was going to ask you anyway, but I'm now asking you as someone other than a friend." He paused, then continued. "Will you accept?"
Evera nodded, then spoke in a false accent, "I will gladly accept your proposal, Sir. Way."
Gerard smiled, joining in this little game, "You've made me a very happy man, Lady Dalinge."
She smiled. "I have grown very fatigued. Is it alright if I leave to rest in the tour bus?"
"Definetly." He stepped back, and spoke normally, "I'll join you in a while."
"Okay," She said softly, then turned toward the bus.
Gerard darted over to Mikey, kneeling by him and Chris. "Hey, Christa, could I have a moment alone with Mikey?"
"Sure." She stood, walking away.
"What is it?" Mikey looked at Gerard, sitting up.
"She said yes!" Gerard grinned.
"Good job, bro. Congrats." He smiled at his brother.
"Heeeeey!" Chris leaped back over and knelt by Mikey. "Why can't I hear what you're talking about? Huh, huh, huh?"
"Because Gerard's a little sixth grader that's embarrassed to let you know he asked your best friend out," Mikey stated, bluntly.
Gerard's face turned red as he hit Mikey over the head.
Chris made a happy gasp and leaped over Mikey, next to Gerard. "You liiiiiiiiike her!" She teased, poking his shoulder.
Mikey laughed. "Stop looking so embarrassed. Ev would've told Chris, who would've told me, who would've told the rest of MCR, who would've told GC. See? Either way, everyone would've found out."
Christa jumped up. "I gots to tell Kalira!" She ran over to their drummer.
Gerard stood. "I'm just...gonna go...check on Ev." He darted off.
Opening the tour bus door, Gerard found Evera sleeping on the top, right-side bunk. He smiled, slowly walking over to her, and stood on the ladder. Resting his arms on the edge of the bunk, he rested his chin on his folded arms.
After a moment of staring, Gerard kissed her nose. She shifted, then slowly opened her eyes and smiled at him.
"Hey, you," She said softly.
"Hey, yourself. How're you feeling? You look weak," he asked just as softly.
"I'm fine." She nodded once. "Just tired. You look like you could use some rest, too."
"Yeah, I am a little groggy." He blinked, feeling his lack of sleep hit.
Evera sat as much as she could and made room for Gerard to get behind her. He smiled, seeing the offer, then climbed up the ladder and into the bunk next to the wall. She laid back down in front of him, her back against his chest, and he looped an arm around her neck.
"Sorry it's so cramped," she said.
"Works for me," he replied. "Just means we have to cuddle more."
She chuckled, sleep pulling both of their eyes closed. After several minutes, when Evera was basically asleep, Gerard kissed her ear once and whispered, "You're beautiful."

Section Five:
"Shh, shh...don't say anything or you'll wake them," Mikey whispered, sneaking onto the tour bus.
"No one say anything," Chris told everyone. "Not a sound until we get outside."
"No giggling, Benji," Kalira ordered in a teasing manner.
"You know I wouldn't!" Benji shot back.
"Guys! Shut up!" Mikey whispered to them all.
Gerard and Evera had, by now, shifted positions. Gerard was on his back while Evera was on her side, facing the wall, one arm curled around his stomach and her head on his chest. Gerard sweetly rested his hands on her back while his cheek was on the top of her head.
Mikey made his way to the bunk and climbed up on the ladder. He nodded and Chris handed him a paint brush with black paint on it. Although his hand was shaky, he managed to paint "I <3 -->" on Gerard's forehead.
Then, Mikey handed back the brush and took a digital camera from Benji. After snapping a few shots, he motioned everyone to exit. At the last second, though, he stole the brush back and painted whiskers, glasses, and a mustache on Gerard.
Once they made it safely out of the bus (after stealing a few images of the new Gerard) the group darted back to the other bus to show the guys what they had done.
Evera was the first to wake, about a half-an-hour later. She slowly sat up, then sighed seeing Gerard. Nudging him a little, she spoke in a sing-songy voice. "Oh, Geraa-aaard."
His eyes blinked open and he sat up beside Evera. "What is it?"
She giggled at his animated face. "They should've said 'Mikey was here' instead."
"What?" Gerard was obviously confused.
"Check the mirror."
Gerard climbed down the ladder and waked toward the bathroom.
"MIKEY'S GONNA DIE!"
Evera laughed, the chains on her pants jingling nicely as she climbed out of the bunk. Walking toward Gerard, she found him furiously rubbing at the paint with wet toilet-paper.
"Gerard!" Evera took his arm to make him stop. "If you keep doing that, you'll make your skin peel."
"How else am I supposed to get this off?" Gerard signed, dropping his hands at his sides.
"Sit; I'll take care of you." She said, gently pushing on his shoulders to get him to sit on the toilet seat. Reaching for the cabinet, Evera pulled out a cotton ball and make-up remover.
Sitting on the stool in front of Gerard, Evera whispered, "Close your eyes." She smiled at his face, totally trusting and open to whatever she had planned.
After a few moments of wiping the remover against his skin, she was able to get the majority of the paint off.
"Thanks, Ev." He smiled, kissing her forehead.
She smiled back. "Wanna do even better?"
"Sure. Whatchya gonna do?"
Evera snickered and pulled some cover-up out of the cabinet. After starting to apply it, Gerard laughed. "I'm used to this."
"I know. But, shh, don't tell Mikey. Let him think it was all in his head or something. He just imagined painting your face," Evera said, still smiling. She soon put the cover-up away.
"There. Good as new."
"Thanks again, Ev." Gerard brushed a stand of hair out of her face as she sat down again on the stool in front of him. "I owe you one."
"Nah, ya don't. What are friends for?" She grasped the edge of the stool.
"And maybe..." Gerard took one of her hands in his own, bringing it up to his lips and kissing it softly. "...more than friends someday?"
"I hope so," Evera said softly. "Assuming you don't get too sick of me before 'someday' comes."
He kissed her hand again, looking at the ceiling. "Nah, nope. Can't foresee that happening."
"How do you do that?" Evera laughed.
"Do what?"
"Make it seem like we've been dating for years?"
"We were close friends." Gerard shrugged. "We may as well have been dating for that whole time."
"Just out of curiosity...how long have you liked me for?" Evera asked, tilting her head to the side.
"Do you remember back when we met, after Mikey told me that he had planned that whole thing of having you start singing during 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)'?"
"Yes. What about it?"
"When I saw you and Chris singing alone backstage."
Evera's eyes widened. "What?"
"Yup. That's the moment, right then. Something about that nano-second of when I saw you, I knew I had to know you better. Not exactly 'love at first sight', but pretty ********' close."
"Wow." She was at a loss of words.
"What about me? When did you first like me?"
"Well, I can't exactly pin-point a time when I first liked you. I mean, I kind of...'immobilized' or numbed myself on that whole 'love' emotion. But I do know that I noticed feelings for you when you woke me up that one night because you had a bad dream."
Gerard shuddered. "That was horrible! And then I woke up and you weren't in your bunk! Don't ever do that to me again!" He scolded softly, rubbing her hair gently.
"Don't worry..." She stared up into his hazel eyes. "I won't. I'll always be here, beside you."
Gerard smiled. "Promise?"
Evera nodded, smiling. "Promise."

Section Six:
Gerard opened the tour bus door, stretching in the cool night air. The bus had parked in a park on the outskirts of town, a different bus parked near a hotel to make it seem like the bands were there.
Gerard sat on the soft grass a few yards away from the bus. He sighed, looking at the sky. After a few moments, Mikey stepped out of the bus and joined his brother on the grass.
"Whatchya thinkin', bro?" He noticed Gerard's glazed stare.
Looking at Mikey, Gerard stated, "Evera."
"Finally agree that it was a good idea to have her sing 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)' so long ago?" Mikey smirked as if to say, "I toldjya so."
Gerard gave Mikey a disdained look. "What are you talking about? I always did. Ev and I were friends, weren't we?"
"Yeah. Hey, what's with the attitude? She's going with you Valentine's Day, right?"
"Yes."
"Then what's your problem?"
"I wish I knew more of what she was thinking. I mean, we talked a lot today about our feelings 'nd stuff for each other, but it's like there's some hidden side to her I don't know about."
"It comes with time, bro."
Gerard signed. "That scares me, too. What if I ******** up and we break up? What if we're too hurt and full of hate to be friends?"
Mikey rolled his eyes. "If 'if's and 'but's were candy and nuts, we'd all have a wonderful Christmas." **
"What's that supposed to ********' mean?"
"Look, I understand you want to be her friend forever, but if you don't take this shot you'll regret it. 'What if we break up?', 'what if we're hurt and hateful?'. Well, what if in two years you're going to put a ring on her finger? Unless you want to risk dying alone, take this chance. She practically loves you, and you almost love her. Do it: take a dive and don't look back."
Gerard smiled at his brother. "Thanks, Mikey."
"No problem, Gerard."
Yawning, Gerard stood. "I'm gonna go to sleep."
Giving him a teasing look, Mikey mused, "Don't propose to her yet. That might be diving in too deep."
"Aww," Gerard chuckled, then opened the tour bus door.
Climbing into his bunk after slipping out of his shoes, Gerard smiled at Evera sleeping across from himself.
"Do it: take a dive and don't look back."

Section Seven:
Evera jumped out of bed the next morning. "********!" She shouted. She pulled her "Beautifully Decayed" band-T out of her trunk along with her black spider-webbed skirt. Darting to the bathroom, she tugged on her outfit, applied fierce make-up, and combed through her flawless hair.
Running toward the door, she pulled on her pleather boots. Pulling on the handle, she saw Gerard on the other side of the door, nearly crashing into him.
"Woah, woah," Gerard caught Evera just before they clunked heads. "Are you okay?!"
"Why didn't anyone wake me?!" Tears of stress streamed out of her eyes.
"I was just coming in to wake you," Gerard coaxed.
"But I was supposed to be up--"
"Shh, shh, you're fine." He rubbed her arm gently.
"But--"
"Stop! Stop...you're fine. We're not late, you're not late, everything's alright." He gently wiped her tears away with his thumb before gently kissing her lips.
"You okay now?" He asked quietly.
Evera nodded. Gerard gently took her hand and lead her outside where she saw everyone else nearly asleep on the ground and picnic tables. They all wore long-sleeves and warm clothes to protect them from the cold, misty morning. Chris jumped up and down trying to stay warm.
"When the hell is that stupid limo supposed to get here?" Benji shook from the cold. He was sitting on a picnic bench with Kalira cross-legged in his arms.
"Fuuuuuck!" Evera rubbed her pale arms. "It's flippin' cold out here!"
Gerard lead Evera to the same table that Benji and Kalira were on. "I don't know. The limo was supposed to be here 25 minutes ago," Gerard said to Benji as he pulled off his leather jacket, revealing his black, formal, long-sleeved shirt. He sweetly draped it over Evera's shoulders.
She looked up at him questioningly. "What about you?"
"I'm fine. I've got this." He tugged on his red and grey scarf.
She nodded, learning her head into his chest, her body shaking slightly.
"I wish that damn limo would get here," he said, feeling into his pocket.
"Yeah, so do I," Evera said quietly. "Are you nervous?"
"Nah. I've talked on the radio more than once. It's kinda fun, actually." Gerard brought a cigarette to his lips, lighting it with a silver lighter.
Evera's eyes widened and she pulled away from under his arm.
"What?" He asked at her sudden movement. "What is it?"
"That," She stated, covering her nose.
Gerard shrugged. "It's not just a cigarette. See? There's a filter." He showed her the brown backing.
"I don't care." She squeezed her eyes together. "The smoke you puff out kills me, not you. Forgive me if I sound selfish, but cigarette smoke gives me migraines."
"Then I'll smoke behind the bus."
"It'll stay on your clothes and I'll still be able to smell it."
Sighing, Gerard walked to the garbage can and threw the cigarette away. Walking back, he shoved his hands in his pockets. "Happy now?" He sat next to her.
"No," She mumbled. "Not if you're going to be mad at me now."
"I'm sorry. I'm not mad, I promise."
"And I don't want you to not smoke just because of my problems. Cigarette smoke tightens your vocal chords and you wouldn't be able to sing as long as you can now. And-and your range would shorten!" She couldn't fight back tears. "And even if we're not always a couple, I want every second I can have with you..."
"Shh, shh," Gerard coaxed once again. "I'll stop. I promise. Not all at once, but I promise, I'll quit."
Evera nodded. "I'm sorry. Just-just the thought of you dying scares the hell outta me."
He rubbed her arm again. "I can understand that..."
The limo pulled up behind them; they turned and looked at it.
"Finally!" Chris shouted. She ran to the limo and yanked the door open. Climbing in, she shouted, "Come ON!"
Taking Evera's hand, Gerard stood and headed for the vehicle. Somehow, the group of 14 (Joel, Benji, Billy, Paul, Dean, Ray, Gerard, Frank, Bob, Mikey, Munch, Evera, Chris, and Kalira) shoved into the limo. To make room, the couples sat on each other's laps, Chris to Mikey, Kalira to Benji, and Evera to Gerard.
Munch bounced up and down on the cushion. "This is going to be fuuuuun!"
Evera leaned her head against Gerard's chest, suddenly numb.
"Yes, it is," Christa agreed. "Thank you, guys, for arranging this for us. Maybe this'll help us become better known."
"Yeah," Billy stated. "We'll get our fans to listen to you 'cause we're fans of you."
"Yaaaay!" Munch continued bouncing.
Chris blinked at him. "You didn't take your medication this morning, did you?"
Munch stopped bouncing and smiled innocently. "No."
Before too much longer, the group pulled out in front of the station.
"Oh, s**t." Frank grinned, half-laughing. "Looks like we've got company."
Fans shouted, holding signs that read "I <3 MCR", "Marry me Gerard", "GC is my life support", and things similar to those.
"Let's go!" Benji clamped Kalira's hand and leaped out of the limo, dragging Kalira with him. The others piled out after them.
Everyone screamed in enjoyment at seeing their idols and heroes. Gerard and Evera were the last two to climb out of the limo.

Section Eight:
Upon seeing their closeness, a few girls screamed in disdain. They all knew that My Chemical Romance was going on tour with a band that had three girls, but what was this? Holding hands? It was obvious they weren't JUST friends.
One teenie jumped over a velvet rope and darted toward Gerard. She pulled the couple's hands apart and held his in her own. Thrusting her chest forward, she flashed her smile at him.
"Sign my shirt?" She squeaked out.
Gerard nodded, taking a Sharpie from behind her ear. Quickly, he signed "MCR Gerard Way xoxo" on her tiny shirt that already read "Mrs. Gerard Way".
"Oh, my gosh! Thank you!" She pulled a camera out of her pocket, quickly making a pose, and snapped the shot. "I love you!"
By this time, Evera had made her way to the door and into the station. The DJ walked toward the bands, shaking 13 hands. A huge grin was on his face and he spoke in a very enthusiastic voice.
"This is going to be very easy. All I'm going to do is ask you some random questions and you'll answer them honestly."
Gerard yanked the door open, slamming it behind him.
"Nice of you to join us." Joel crossed his arms.
"Thanks." He walked over to Evera and whispered, "Sorry about that."
"It's fine," She replied in a hushed tone.
"Ready to go?" The DJ turned to the sound booth.
Everyone nodded and followed. About a foot away from the door, Evera stopped. Her cell phone rang and she pulled it out of her pocket.
Chris and Gerard stopped, looking at her.
"Go ahead," Evera replied to their glances. "I'll go in in a sec."
A couple minutes passed after Evera had walked off with the phone. Tears stained her face as she sobbed in the back room. Softly, she could hear the DJ talking, "Okay, now we're going to go to a break. Listen to the commercials. They're nice. They pay us."
After turning the speaker off, he looked at Gerard and told him to go get Evera.
"Evera..." Gerard gathered her up in his arms upon seeing her, along with her tears. "What is it? What's wrong? What happened?"
Evera was crying so hard that she had to take in gasping, squeaky breaths. "It's my Grandma. She's in ICU [Intensive Care Unit]. The doctor's say she's drowning in her own body fluids and she's going to die."
Gerard froze, memories shooting back at him. After a pause of composure, he spoke urgently, "Do you want me to take you to the hospital?"
Evera sniffled, tears still flooding her eyes. "But the city's thirty minutes away. And what about this radio ******** this," He said so simply. "And I'll take you wherever you need me to."
Not bothering to try and argue like she normally would, Evera nodded. "Thank you, Gerard. I--" She nearly added 'love you', "...really appreciate it."
"You go to the limo." He stood, pulling her with himself. "I'll tell the others what happened."
Nodding again, Evera turned and stumbled her way toward the vehicle. After a few moments, Gerard joined her, and directed the driver back to the tour bus, ten minutes of the ride to the city, so he could get his car. Once they were there, he unlatched his red mustang* and climbed inside. Kalira had followed the couple in the limo, and tripped her way inside the back seat, watching as Evera followed her motions to the front passenger spot.
Gerard shoved the key into the ignition and backed out of the spot, onto the main road.
Worriedly, he looked over at Evera. He gently reached over and grasped her hand. "It's gonna be okay, Ev. I'll have the both of you to the hospital in twenty minutes. I promise."
Kalira stared numbly out of the window, as did Evera. After a moment, Ever was able to whisper, "Thank you."
Gerard kissed her hand. "I'd do it again in a heartbeat."

Section Nine:
The minutes passed slowly and painfully, but they finally made it to the hospital. The group opened the car doors, in unison, and ran toward the building. Soon enough, they made it to the hallway of the ICU.
The doorway to their grandma's room was closed, and Evera paused. Memories of her past leaked into her mind. Half of her expected her parents to be there, giving her hate-filled glares. Yet, the other half of her was painfully aware that they were six-feet under the ground, holes from their own bullets permanent in their skulls.
After taking a breath, Kalira pushed the door open.
"I'm not going to cry...I'll be strong..." Evera told herself. Her family gave her awkward smiles as they shifted in their chairs.
Tears tickled at her eyes as she saw her grandma in the bed. Kalira slowly moved to her grandmother's side.
Looking up, Evera saw her grandfather walking toward her. "Oh, Evera." He tightly wrapped his arms around her. "I can't believe you're here. I thought you were out somewhere with the band."
"I was," Evera said, wrapping her arms back around him. "I was at a radio station but a nurse called me and told me what happened. I couldn't stay away."
"I'm so glad you could come. It means so much to Ma," He replied, referring to their grandmother.
Evera swallowed hard, then pulled back from his arms. She watched as Kalira took their grandma's hand and sat down beside her bed.
Her grandpa then looked past Evera and noticed Gerard for the first time. "Oh, and who's this?" He smiled.
"I'm Gerard," he said, extending his arm out. "I'm dating your granddaughter."
"You're not the young man that plays the bass guitar for Evera, are you?" He shook Gerard's hand.
"No, no." He smiled, chuckling. "That's Munch. I'm the singer of a band called My Chemical Romance. Our bands are going on tour together along with Good Charlotte."
"Oh, yeah. Ma's a fan of Good Charlotte because of Evera." He let go of Gerard's hand.
Gerard smiled at Evera, watching as she sat beside Kalira, facing her grandma. Joining her, he saw her eyes open and a smile cross her face.
"Oh...Kalira, Evera. What are you doing here?" Her voice came out rough and gurgled. She wrapped her fingers around Kalira's fingers as Evera took her arm.
"Gerard drove us here, Grandma," Kalira said. "We weren't about to leave you here alone."
"Gerard?" Grandma asked. "The young man behind Evera?"
Evera nodded. "This is Gerard. You might remember some of his songs from when I sang to you when I was a teenager."
Gerard tilted his head to the side. He never knew she'd been a fan for that long.
"Oh, yes. I do remember." She looked up at Kalira. "Did you ever meet that Benji fellow you liked so much?"
"Yeah, Grandma." She smiled. "He's my boyfriend."
"Oh!" She smiled. "I'm so happy for you!"
"Thank you, Grandma..."
"Everything's going to be okay..." Evera told herself. "Everthing's going to be fine."

Section Ten:
Several hours passed and most of the family had gone home. Evera stared out at the starry sky as she, Kalira, and Gerard sang to Grandma.
"Move along, move along, like I know you do..." They sang from the All-American Rejects. Grandma's face was beaming as their voices echoed in the room. Grandpa smiled as well, though he was resisting sleep.
"Right back what is wrong, we move along..." The three faded out.
"I'll be right back," Kalira said, standing up and heading toward the restroom.
"Sweetie," Grandma said in a soft voice. She grasped Evera's hand tightly. "I'm sorry we weren't able to take you in after your parents died."
"Grandma, don't worry about it." She squeezed her hand.
"No, Evera, I'm sorry. We should've taken you in, but instead we let you get your own apartment and fight your way through life."
"Gramma, please, it's okay. You were sick, you and Grandpa were old, and I was sixteen. I was almost an adult."
"But, Evera, at least you should've felt some love."
"Oh...Gramma...I do. I love you, Gramma," She said as her voice started to crack. "And I know you love me, too."
Gerard squeezed Evera's shoulder. Kalira stepped back in the room, a nurse close by.
"It's time for everyone to leave," The nurse stated gently.
Evera nodded, giving Gerard a hug. Grandpa hugged Kalira, then the two switched.
"Right here," Grandpa said, pointing to his cheek.
Evera and Kalira smiled, then kissed his cheeks. Just as they were about to step out, Evera paused. Looking back at the nurse, she asked, "Would it be alright if I sang one more song?"
"Go ahead." The nurse nodded.
Evera sat beside her Grandma and squeezed her hand. "This is a song by Evanescence..." She took a breath and started singing the lullaby. "Goodnight, sleep tight; no more tears. In the morning, I'll be here. And when we say goodnight...dry your eyes. Because we said goodnight, and not goodbye. We said goodnight and not...goodbye."

Section Eleven:
"Gerard..." Evera whispered, standing next to the sleeping singer in his bunk. She rubbed his arm, trying to wake him gently. Sniffling, she spoke again. "Gerard, please wake up."
Slowly, he opened his eyes, shifting a little. "What is it?" He said groggily. Then he saw her face. "Oh, s**t. Ev, what happened?"
Evera's face wrinkled as tears fell out of her eyes.
"Oh, God. No. She didn't..."
Evera nodded.
"Oh, my ********--" He stared at her in disbelief. "How long ago?"
She swallowed hard. "Fourty-five minutes ago. They won't be..." She took gasping breaths, each word being harder than the last. "...be getting her-her body for another two hours."*
Gerard wrapped a strong arm around her neck as she broke down, pulling her against his shoulder. He waited several moments until she had settled down enough to talk. "Does Kalira know?"
Evera nodded. "In the car waiting."
Gerard pushed her gently away, far enough so he could look into her eyes. "Do you want to go see her?"
Evera nodded again. "More than anything."
Nodding as well, Gerard slowly slipped off of the bunk and onto the floor. Pulling out his leather jacket, he pulled it over his black T-Shirt and pulled a pair of jeans over his Halloween PJ bottoms.
"C'mon, let's go." He took her under his arm and to his mustang where Kalira was waiting.
Kalira's eyes were red, and she looked as if she had been crying. For that matter, she looked like she could start crying again. But she rarely cried- if ever- and never in front of anyone else.
Evera climbed in the backseat of the car, Gerard next to her. After closing the door, Kalira started the engine and pulled off. Openly, Evera sobbed silently. Kissing the back of her head, Gerard cradled her in his arms. He resisted crying himself, all of the memories eating at him.
Alas, looking down at Evera, he knew he had to stay strong and get her through this. With a pause, he realized that his heart cared about her more than his mind understood. He was willing to do whatever it took to make this girl-- this single, frail, innocent girl-- smile for just one moment.
Under his hold, he could feel her body shake. Letting out a sigh, he knew nothing could make her mood shift. "Everything will be okay, Ev. I'll get you through this..."
Gently, he could feel her head nod against his chest. She sniffled, then said, "I'm sorry. I feel like I shouldn't be crying. I mean, you've been through all of this already."
"Shh, shh, Evera. That's not what I meant by that. I just meant that I'll always be here, and you'll always be able to cry on me."
Looking up, Evera suddenly noticed that Kalira didn't have any place to cry. "Cousin?" She asked. "Is Benji coming?"
Kalira nodded. "He's already there."
Evera responded with a nod. The three rode in silence until they got to the hospital, opening the doors in unison once again, and walking to the entrance.
Looking at the flight of stairs they had to climb, Evera whispered, "Great. The stairs again."
Kalira nodded as they started to walk up.
"But...it doesn't seem so bad now, does it?" She asked more to herself than her cousin.
"No...it doesn't."
-------------------
*Please note that I am not trying to recreate the loss of Gerard's grandmother in any way, shape or form. On February 26th, 2006, my and my cousin's grandmother died and I am simply making this a tribute to her. Most of what I wrote about happened, such as my singing "Goodnight" to her the night before she died and that awful flight of stairs that my cousin and I walked up and down so many times. Even the last line of dialog that is featured in this section happened.
Again, just know that this isn't some annoying recreation of Gerard's grandmother...this was reality for my cousin and I.

Section Twelve:
There was the door again, staring them in the face. Kalira numbly walked into the room and Evera paused. She took a breath, having no idea of what to expect.
"Ev..." Gerard pat her back. "...I'll get you through this. I promise." She nodded, then forced herself into the room once again. Gerard followed, freezing at the body's sight.
Kalira sat on the floor, staring down. With tears streaming down her cheeks, Evera ran over to the corpse and wrapped her arms around it. She rest her head on its chest and sobbed.
Grandpa stood by Evera and set his hand on her head. "It's okay. She's happy now. She's not sick, and she knows we love her."
Evera tightened her arms around the body. "But I'm not ready to let her go yet."
Gerard sat beside her and kissed her cheek. "I'm sorry, Ev, but you don't have a choice."
"But it's not fair! She doesn't deserve this!" Evera half-screamed.
Gerard looked down at her and stroked her hair. "No one deserves death, not even the worst of all sinners."
Effortlessly, she sobbed. Nothing could fix this. Through her blurred vision, she saw the others watching her. Why weren't they crying?! Didn't they want her back?!
Turning over, she looked up at the ceiling, as if she were looking directly into the eyes of God, and screamed out the order, "Give her back to me! You can't have her!"
Gerard stood and tightly put his arms around her waist. He pulled her off of the corpse and carried her out of the room.
"No!" She shrieked, kicking and trying to get out of his grasp. "Let me go! Let me be with her!"
He dragged her to an empty waiting room and let her go on the couch. He sat in front of her and held her down. "But that's not her, Ev! She's gone--"
Evera's face wrinkled at the words. The truth always hurt.
"No, wait. She's NOT gone. She's everywhere, just not in her body," He said confidently, touching her cheek gently.
After a short pause, he asked, "You ready to go back in?"
She nodded, silent tears falling from her eyes. Then Gerard stood up and pulled her with him. Together, they walked back to the room...one last time.

Section Thirteen:
Two days later, the tour was officially put on hold. All dressed in black, the bands attended Dolores M. Ray's* funeral. It still didn't feel real yet. Evera looked over at the box-shaped double-urn and stared in disbelief.
That was a jewelry box. At least, that's how it felt to her. A jewelry box and a doll. Everything was fake and she was going to wake up soon.
Sitting in front of a large church of people, she nodded to Christa. Stroking the keys, Chris played the tune of their idols, Evanescence.
Her cousin sat beside her with a violin. She watched Chris with red eyes.
Finally, Evera began to sing:
"I'm so tired of being here, Suppressed by all my childish fears. And if you have to leave, I wish that you would just leave, 'Cause your presence still lingers here and it won't leave me alone.
These wounds won't seem to heal. This pain is just too real. There's just too much that time cannot erase.
When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears. When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears. And I held your hand through all of these years. But you still have, All of me."
Kalira bowed a long, minor note on her violin, then joined the duet with her own part.
"You used to captivate me by your resonating light. Now I'm bound by the life you left behind. Your face, it haunts...my once pleasant dreams. Your voice, it chased away...all the sanity in me.
These wounds won't seem to heal. This pain is just too real. There's just too much that time cannot erase.
When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears. When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears. And I held your hand through all of these years. But you still have, All of me.
I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone. But though you're still with me, I've been alone all along."
Kalira and Chris split into their own solos. Evera looked up at the ceiling, only to see a painting of her beloved Lord looking back at her. Tears rimmed her lids and He looked back and she could've sword she heard Him say, "Don't cry. She's with Me now, watching over you."
She fell out of herself for a moment, then snapped back just in time for her part.
"When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears. When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears. And I held your hand through all of these years. But you still have... All of me..."
As Evera sang the last few lines, Grandpa took hold of the urn and sadly walked down the isle and out of the church. Everyone but BD and MCR followed.
"Me..."
