I think it's ridiculous. I find that Gay People inadvenrtantly use the rainbow flags as a way of saying, "******** you, I like the same sex so deal with it!" neutral
There are already enough lables in the world, but now Gaians are asking to literally label Gay/Bi/Trans/Het people.
I'd say more, but I want replies first. whee

Gay Pride. ::goes into debate mode:: domokun Now. The thing that I don't understand about people being opposed to Gay Pride is this ... Would they have been opposed to the following: Suffrage Women's Rights Equal Right's for African Americans Labor Movements Child Labor Laws Or Civil Rights in general ...
When people bash homosexuals are degrade them for wanting equal rights it only serves to remind me of all the past hatred and intolerance. That people still haven't changed, and that they might as well have been the people who lynched "Negroes" and ran sweatshops full of children. Any people who are/have been disenfranchised and had their rights taken away will always have my support. I don't care how bright their flag is, if it inadvertently says

If it's the petition I'm thinking of I don't see a problem with it. Wear it or don't. Clothes are Clothes. If they came out with rainbow suspenders for gaia I would wear them. Why? because I think they look cute. If someone else gets worked up over what they think it means, well tough.

My views *Deep breath* First of all, just because you wear the clothes if they were created, it dosn't necisarilly mean that you are G/B/L. People might literally, only buy them for the colours, which i know seems pretty shallow but it would show how people just get on with things and not question as much as the colour of clothing or accesories ect. Continued from the above in a different point, it isn't necisarilly pointing us out either. It shouldn't really resort to the case where people are getting banned or put on blacklists of threads ect. all because of what they are wearing. This can relate to ANY peice of clothing, not just ones that gaia may agree to create. A personality should flourish, not kept hidden away, which also might happen if the 'clothing items' are made. People might be afraid to express themselves incase something happens. If that does happen. I would tell them to not judge a book by it's cover. I havn't for any of you at this guild, and i think very highly of all of you, so why should someone else downgrade ANYONE because of their looks or their sexuality or even personality. Good idea? Every idea has consequences and potentials. My personal opinion is yes, i seem to quite like the idea. If this is what will make us stand out, and not be stamped with labels, then yes i'm in favour. Of course, i do understand the consequences in all, but i think it could work. And it's not if you are literally being forced into wearing them, and hopefully, it wouldn't get to the point where you feel like you have to wear one. Thank you all for reading this ^_^

I think people should have the choice, so I signed it. Don't know if I would ever have my avi wear the items, but that doesn't mean other's shouldn't be able to.

I don't believe that it is wronge to put your sexuality out there... I don't think that's it is a big '******** You' either.. I think it is pretty much up to the person if they want to be proud or if they just want to keep it to their self... their is nothing wronge with either.. and don't get me wronge.. but there is a difference between being proud and pushing it on to someone... in my opinion I think you are being rude by putting down people that are proud of their life style.. and that's wronge..

It seems Black_Rain and loginbin3000 have managed to state all the facts I agree with for the majority, so I doubt there is any need for repitition. However, they are correct. Either you wear them or you don't. People who aren't GLBT may wear them, but that only means it is being more accepted. It's basicly what the entire idea of the items are about. Yes, the bi and gay colors meanings may be deluted, but so will the reasoning to need them. I mean, if everyone is accepted for who they are, there isn't much a need for them, unless you simply want to be labled. Yes, it is an 'in your face we are what we are' sort of thing, the flags. So are any flags for that matter. It's to state your presance and let be known what you are with the wish to be accepted. However, like many other flags, these aren't for countries and cannot be completly taken over so easily.
As for the idea it will upset other people and their own groups and colors, if they have them. So long as they have a meaningfull purpose, I think they too can have their own apparel here on Gaia. We don't need an entire clothing line for any group, just a few simple items. It's not all that much to ask for. I know the process for each item they create, however, if it's merely two to four items, it isn't tedious. It can be done. If the admins see a majority rule, they probably will do as per requested.
