I have to make a valedvictorian speech for my graduation, and I want to include some song lyrics in it to make it more personal (Instead of quoting Greek philosophers and the such.) Can anyone provide some lyrics from songs that may be deemed appropriate for use in a speech? Some topics could be on the future, education, graduating, friends, etc. I know there are a lot out there, but I need to find ones that would be allowed to be used. Thanks!
P.S. Not sure if this is in the right forum sweatdrop

I did a quick search for a few lyrics for you. I don't know if any of them will help, but I thought I'd try:
(you can cut them down if you want. Not having to use all of what I post, obviously! haha)
"I'm standing far ahead Always looking backwards I'm standing far behind With eyes fixed on tomorrow
Breathe in deep, and open your heart again The fire burns where the embers fall So love, in spite of the pain you feel For the lives we live - follow after all"
- Afer All, The Cruxshadows
"The sounds of yesterday still echo in my head Distant conflicts unresolved We were young once, and in love Nothing was more real...more real to me"
- Helen (Nothing Left but Me), The Cruxshadows
"I will always Go beside you You will always Understand me And now, it's all the same to me So be whatever you want to be Go wherever you need to go And when there's nothing left behind Taken whatever you needed to And leave it all into my mind"
- I Will Always, The Cranberries
"Will you remember the dress I wore? Will you remember my face? Will you remember the lipstick I wore? This world is a wonderful place. Will you remember the black limousine? Will you remember champagne? Will you remember the things that we've seen? I will return here again. Will you remember the flowers in my hand? Will you remember my hair? Will you remember the future we planned? The world is not waiting out there. I won't remember the dress I wore. I won't remember champagne. I won't remember the things that we swore. I will just love you in vain. Will you remember? Will you recall? Will you remember?"
- Will You Remember?, The Cranberries (I wasn't sure how to cut this one down, it's the whole song. It kind of reminds of prom or something)
'So beware of that pitfall We don't have to change at all And our light will not burn out It's what freedom's all about"
- I Really Hope, The Cranberries
"All of my memories Keep you near In silent moments Imagine you'd be here All of my memories Keep you near The silent whispers, silent tears"
- Memories, Within Temptation
That's it for now. Just a quick look over some lyrics. ^_^

Thanks so much! All of these really help and I am having a hard time deciding which ones to use 3nodding . I hate having to write speeches, but it is one of life's many feats. I only hope that the audience will be able to recognize the poetic nature behind the lyrics. You're always so helpful.

It was such a makeshift compilation. I figured it best to use bands that were of the gothic or alternative persuassion. 3nodding That would make it more personal for you. hehe. I try my best to help out when I can. heart
