In the beautiful countryside of the Scottish Highlands, the very earth seemed magical. Rolling hills and roving forests gave the impression of a fairy-tale come true.

But few believed the stories passed down through generations. Stories told by grandmothers at bedtime; stories of ferocious dragons, mystical faeries, tiny elves, raging werewolves, and prowling vampires. Children grew up in awe of these creatures of legend. But they soon grew out of them. Though many still carried superstition far enough to place a bowl of milk on their porch for the brownies each night, it was just that: superstition.

Since the Age of Magic, when so much was lost to the meddlesome humans who had sought to harness and control magic in all of it?s forms, the belief had dwindled. Not surprising, seeing as no one remembered those times, or what had caused them to end.

Rare was the case when someone actually was a witness to the presence of magic. The faeries saw to that. It was the responsibility of the Faye to lull mortals into disbelief. Their spells worked wonderfully, but had a tendency to fade in the face of old age. As they themselves had no understanding of the concept of aging, it was difficult for them to adjust their spells accordingly.

In respect to the faeries to whom they owed their very lives, the elves made themselves scarce around mortal beings, despite their penchant for mischief. The occasional prank must suffice, for the faeries were their mothers, wives, and daughters. Indeed, many an elf sought to curb his mischief to please his sweetheart.

The existence of vampires and werewolves wasn?t much of a concern to the Faye, elves and faeries alike. Their existence was limited, due to their mutual hate of one another. Dragons, and the other had, were a constant source of dread, not because there were many of them?for their number was considerably few?but because of their deadly flames. A dragon could easily kill thousands of the Faye in one fell swoop.

But mortals remained in ignorant bliss of these forces at work around them. After all, they had a ?natural? skepticism of anything they could not see and feel.

That is, most mortals were ignorant. Unbeknownst to the Faye, there were some who were immune to their spells . . .

Playable Races

Humans: Remarkably similar to Homo-Sapiens . . . Most human characters must dissplay a persistent stubborness in disbelieving in anything related to magic. Indeed, one might be attacked by werewolves and nearly killed but insist to their friends that it was merely a pack of rabid dogs. The few who are not affected by the faeries' spell will be youth, perhaps in their early teens. They are most likel either scoffed at by their peers, or they have kept their own counsel from the first.

Vampires: Vampires herebouts are not unconsionably insane, but they can become so if they have suffficient 'bloodlust'. A vampire can exist upon the consumption of animal blood, but many refuse to lower themselves as such. Other than pale skin, due to lack of exposure to UV rays tthan anything else, a vampire looks much as any other human might.

Werewolves: Many still run with packs of wolves, choosing to become wolf rather than man during the various phases of the moon. But a good many try to hang on to the shattered remnants of their human lives. Most have naught to do with former family and friends, for fear of harming them in unguarded moments. They live solitary lives.

The Faye ((Faye Royalty will not be playable in this campaign, except under mitigating circumstances.))

Sprites and Pixies: Ranging from 4 inches to three feet in height, these little girls tend to resemble early teenagers, but have been known to have more mature figures on occasion. The main difference being the wings sprouting from their backs. These wings generally resemble butterfly wings, or dragonfly wings, depending on the lineage of the faerie herself. Those from the more aristocratic lineage have the more decorative butterfly wings, while the 'lower class' faeries have the more practical dragonfly wings. They like to think of themselves as being friends to nature, but they really have to work hard at suppressing their own mischeivious nature. After all, it wouldn't do for the elves to realize that they're lady-loves aren't perfect examples of the feminine spirit of Mother nature.

Elves & Brownies: Mischeivious to a fault, their favorite thing in the world is to play practical jokes on the unsuspecting. They range in height the same as their faerie cousins and share te same teenage builds, but their faces tend to be more childlike. One might say imp-like. By no means do they consider themselves at one with Mother Nature, but they do have an affinity for the natural. Having no wings themselves, they have learned to get arround by other means. It is not unknown forthe elves to have bug and bird friends willing to trnsport them wherever they please. The more self reliant brownies tend to secret underground passages and tree routes. Both have an uncanny inherent knowledge of plants. They know how to make simple poisons and antidotes. An elf may by nature be tricksy, but watch out if you ever give one reason to dislike you. They are very sensitive to wrong-doings, and consider harm of nature to be unjust.

Player Characters

Player: Merisaa
Name: Cecelia
Race: Human - Villager
Appearance: Being only five feet tall, she tends to be mistaken for being younger than she really is. And seeing as how she's only seventeen, she finds this very irritating. She has shoulder-length copper-brown hair which somtimes looks red in the right lighting. She's a little wiry, and by no means voluptuous, adding to her childlike appearance.
Skills and Abilities: Cecelia is a remarkably good cook, having inherited hundreds of years worth of experience passed down verbally from her relatives. She is also a decent dancer, and a horrible seamstress. Her brotherse taught her how to defend herself, so she is reasonably proficient with a knife, a sword, and a shortbow. More with the kinfe and shortbow than the sword, seeing as they tended to be quite heavy. But she could run circles around the average peasant with a wooden sword
Bio Summary: Cecelia grew up the only girl in a family of eleven boys. Somehow, she was able to retain a feminine grace, though she doesn't always show it. After her father's death from disease, her mother, aunt and younger brothers were dependent upon the older of their brood for everything. Times had been a bit rough, but they were all pulling through just fine, thank you. After coming to the conclusion that sh was not interested in any of the village boys - who could not even match her prowess with a sword - Cecelia realized that there was nothing left for her in the village. Rather than arguing with her well meaning family, she snuck out in the middle of the night and struck out on a journey to discover herself. She wakes up every morning hoping to be swept off her feet by a dashing . . . perhaps not a knight, but who knew?
Purpose: Like any practical girl, she knows she should marry someday, but refuses to give her whole life up to pursuing that goal. She intends to enjoy as much of the world as she can, enjoying every oppotunity to learn new things.
Other: Cecelia is unusually receptive to the Faerie magic; i.e. she is oblivious to the point of personal halucination.

Moderator Characters

Player: Ermak Lorde
Name: Finian Daman
Race:Vampire, used to be a lord.
Appearance: Features that were elegant and almost effeminate in life, have taken on an eerie ghostly beauty. his thinner face makes him look more masculine, and his pale skin and long tapered fingers make him seem surreal. He dons a thick black cloak with silver and crimson elaborate and embroidered clothing underneath. He stands over 6 feet tall, with peircing green eyes and platinum blonde hair, a real lady-killer.
Skills and Abilities: Finian uses his considerable good-looks to woo his way into womens hearts, thereby giving him the pick of his victims. A real manipulator, he is also not inconsiderable with a sword.
Bio Summary: Finian was once the son of a Noble Lord, He was in fact the second son, and had not thought he was going to inherit. Due to this assumption he made other plans, mastering swordplay and war tactics with the hope of becoming a ranking army officer. His hopes were shattered however when he stumbled across one of the undead. From that point on his life was changed. He returned home for a short time, only to find that his father and brother had been killed in a raid. Finian was now the lord of the castle, but he was unable to rule it. As it ends up he transfered the upkeep of the castle to a distant cousin, Deciding to travel himself as he grew accostomed to his new form and powers. That was generations ago. Now forgotten by his kin, Finian is an experienced Vampire, an undead not to be trifled with.
Purpose: Finian has grown heartily weary of the Faye's curse, and he seeks to disband the enchantment which gives humans their ignorance. Finian feels strongly that such a defficet in his prey makes the hunt pale and it ceases to amuse him.
