I was wondering all the members could have one thread to describe their fantasy world they can add anything they want to disclose about their world and keep it on all one thread. I was thinking since we dont use the RP subforum that could be a subforum for our fantasty world and all our works can be in one place it can be talking about our world or our characters or anything related to our works. And then people could comment on them...

Isn't there a thread about 1 world, 2 worlds already? Maybe that could be the official thread or something, you know? neutral

im just thinking it would be cool to have a subforum and everyone have their own thread because its something i am kinda interested in having. So we can have one thread and everyone can see what other peoples worlds are of whatever they want to share.

We have a go ahead from the leader herself, this is pretty good!

I suggest you grab any sub-forum that hasn't gotten any hits for about a month or so. I haven't checked them all out myself but I do check them every week for new posts and if there aren't any I don't post.

I can see that last time suggestions were given was last year (take away 10 days for me). Well, I have a few suggestions.

1) In this writing guide I am still a member of, use to be active, had this wonderful idea of doing daily challenges. Well, not really challenges, but writing exercises everyday. Everyday, the creator of the guild would have a word up and the members would do the exercises. I think this idea is great! But, for this guild, I think it should be different.

Instead of having someone come online everyday to post a word; there should be one topic for each month. Depending on how many days there are in the month, there could be 28-31 words, located on the first post. The date could be next to each of the words- that way members would know that is the word of the day.

I think ALL of the words should be put in white text. To be 'invisible'. All the member has to do is highlight the word. If the person wants to see the spoiler words (AKA seeing the 'future'), they can. I think this is a good thing, mostly. Just in case the person can't be around for most of the month, he/she can look at any of the words for the month and can PLAN how they will write their short excerpt using that word. Example:

August 29, 2010 Word: Cat

August 30, 2010 Word: Bat

August 31, 2010 Word: Mat

I believe I'm not going to have time to write for that month. But, I would like to try to do the last word for that month. Since I already know what the word is, by highlighting it, I can now plot an idea during the month. When the time comes, my plot idea for a short story/drabble etc. should be done already. I will post my response to the exercise. It's up to the member to keep a sticky note somewhere as a reminder. The same goes for me doing many of the words for that month AHEAD of time. If I think I only have one day to myself, then I can at least complete 3 words for that month- which can be counted as 3 days of activity for the guild. If more then one month is presented with words/practice, that makes it even better. This is especially helpful during the finals season.

Since this is a fantasy guild; the words being presented could be words that are presented mostly in fantasy realms... Of course, as long as the words are known to the members of course. If not, maybe a link should/could be included to help. This site seems to be helpful (off Gaia): http://www.lowchensaustralia.com/names/fantasylinks.htm

2) Another one, like the idea above, it would be pictures instead. But, instead of having many pictures per month for each day, it should be one picture per month. I was thinking that it could be one of those pictures with many things going on. You know, something like in the 'Find Waldo' books. You see how crazy the pictures are- making it difficult to find him? Something like that I think would be better as an exercise. We can get an crazy picture like that and the members can find objects in it (we can have a list of objects for them to find or not); and bonus points if they can make some short story/drabble/oneshot etc. with that word in it.

If that is too much, just a simple picture will do too. The members can always make more then one post if they feel like making more then one response for the same picture. There are plenty of pictures on DeviantArt that are nice, but being neglected for various reasons. Once again, since this a fantasy guild, the pictures should look fantasy-ish. There are plenty of them out there. And, this blog is similar to what I suggest (off Gaia): http://writewithpictures.blogspot.com/

Of course, any pictures that are taken from somewhere, DeviantArt or elsewhere, the artist's name should be mentioned under the picture, along with a link of where it came from. This way, no plagiarism would be committed.
=============================
3) Another one, similar to the first suggestion. Except, this has a time limit. A word will be given, and the member has only one minute to write something with that word in it or at least pertaining to that word.

I think this is a good idea; would make the head start flowing.
=============================
And that is all of the suggestions I have! I think these are great ideas, but it's still up to you guys! 3nodding

I actually agree, they do sound like great ideas! The thing is, can we actually pull it off if we only seem to have 2 active members? I'm not sure and if you want to start that I suppose we could do the first idea on the writer's sub-forum. As for the second idea, I'm not so sure where it should be located to begin with. Maybe in the same sub-forum...

Anyways, thank you for those cool ideas Kitty! 3nodding
