Significance of Guardians and Callers in the Feli Playgrounds.
Guardians- as those who have been following the overall plotline will know, the original four Guardians were the first Felis. The elemental lines are more closely related to the four, tapping into a very tiny portion of the overall controls the four have. These four were Hephaes, Lacia, Phestia and Amaethon, the Guardians of Summer, Winter, Spring and Autumn. Of these four, Hephaes was eldest and most powerful, for his influence, though strongest in the summer months, could touch the valley at any time.
Their being discovered by the Feli who live in the house was due to a series of accidents. In an attempt to prove their powers over the physical form, the Guardians tried a variation of the process used to create Caller's crowns to create an item that could replace their current wings with large, feathered versions. On the first attempt, a Calling Tree was created, but in place of the items they had attempted to create were the twins, Narawen and Dudley.
Their next attempt was successful, in a way. The necklaces were created. Alas, in the following moments, once Amaethon and Lacia each had their necklaces on, Amaethon's soul became fused with Lacia's, trapped within her body. Losing all trace of her memory, Lacia escaped the cave under the waterfall that had been their home, and wandered blindly until she found the Feli House.
Time passed, and Lacia's two remaining siblings attempted to call her back without alerting others to their presence, their purpose, but alas, in the eventual success, they were discovered, as were the three known Calling Trees still living.
Callers- The existence of Callers was unknown until some time after the Guardians were discovered. Laes, the Water Caller, appeared one day by the pond behind the Feli House, cursing another for stealing his crown. Hephaes, seeming to know the aquatic soul very well, pledged his help, and thus the Merfeli were discovered, the curse of Laes' crown unleashed upon those to touch it after it had been stolen by Siye.
So what of the Callers, how did they come to be? When the Felis were a young race, the Guardians came to realise that the power resting so heavily upon their shoulders needed others to help it thrive. They decided that for each Guardian, an opposing element would be bestowed upon an elemental Feli that showed great aptitude in the control of this element. Two candidates were drawn for each of the four main elements, Water, Wind, Fire and Earth. These candidates were tested against each other, and each Guardian chose their Caller according to what they valued most.
Siye and Laes, vying for the Water Caller position, were a cause for contention. Siye was the more skilled in control of water, but was of a temper too apt to fly off the handle, too obsessive, too addicted to his own power. In a decision that shocked many, Hephaes proved that he valued loyalty and wisdom over power, and awarded Laes the crown which would cement his position, and allow him access to a greater elemental control than any before him had held. The crown held with it a curse, however, as do all Caller crowns. They hold the same magic as the Calling Trees, it is sometimes said they are woven from the branches of the original Calling Tree, which has yet to be glimpsed by the Felis of the house. Some say it is hidden where it is needed most. If another takes possession of a Caller's crown, they will invoke the curse upon that particular crown, as will any to touch it while it is in the thief's possession.
Has Siye's dance with the curse dampened his anger at being rejected? Only time will tell.
Two other Callers made their mark on the Feli household, Neela and Haurth. The Callers chosen by Lacia and Amaethon, they lost their way, succumbing to the power they held. Callers of Fire and Earth, the two fell in love with each other, before falling in love with the idea they were above the Felis to pass in the household. They brought a plan to Hephaes and Lacia to purge the household, and start anew with stronger creations, a race of Callers, or the like. Disgusted, the Guardian pair stripped Neela and Haurth of their powers, their crowns, and their titles. Neela's crown was frozen and buried where she would never find it, and Haurth's burned to a crisp and the ashes scattered over the pond behind the Feli House.
The pair swore revenge on the Winter and Summer Guardians, and sure enough, they were given their revenge. Even without their crowns, they retained some of their original talents, and together could form an entity that existed of shadow, and in shadow. With this, they kidnapped Hephaes and his mate, knowing that Hephaes would not use his powers to escape while another was there, for fear of harming them.
With their minions, they kidnapped many, taking advantage of the shift in balance with the Summer Guardian locked away. Though they could not enter the Feli House (for it holds protection unknown to many, but felt by those who would seek to harm what lies within it) they succeeded in luring Felis into the forest, and there holding them, whilst enjoying the chaos the storm brewing created.
A search was launched for the missing parties, and in the process, a great tragedy struck the valley. The storm, a great amassing of the imbalance, lashed out, and it struck Lacia down. In her death, however, came new life. The energy of the storm had been drained into her, and her legacy was fulfilled- she left behind four bundles, to carry on her memory.
Neela and Hephaes fought following the event, but Neela escaped, and the question remains- will she return? And what became of her minions?

Caller Crowns.
A Caller without their crown is essentially an average Feli, for they do not have the elemental control their crown brings. A crown must always be gifted to a Caller by their Corresponding Guardian. No Caller is without their Guardian, they rely on that other for feeding and receiving power.
It has never been seen, how the Guardians make the crowns, and it is not known if all were created by the original four, in advance, or if a new one must be made each time. All that is known is that with the emergence of born Callers, (Callers earmarked from birth, rather than chosen for excellence) there is much the three remaining seasonal Guardians have yet to tell.
