A friend of mine was cruising around on IGN and ran into some interesting news. Street Fighter Alpha Anthology is, as most of you have no doubt heard, going to be a compliation of the three Alpha games in the series. However, some people I know of would flip to hear of some of the extras and such that will be included.
Aside from the direct ports of each Alpha game, there is apparently gonna be a massive amount of stuff to unlock, such as separate versions of each game and different options to switch things around. In SFA3, for example, there'll be the "normal" mode, so to speak, which would consist of the game having the characters from the arcade version, while the "arrange" mode'll have the console only characters like Dee Jay, Fei-Long, etc. Another nice touch will be the "Hyper SF Alpha" mode which, like the Hyper Anniversary Edition, will basically let you pit characters from the different Alpha games against one another. Alpha 1 Ryu vs Alpha 3 Ryu, for example. 3nodding
Also, there's even more to unlock by playing that mode, because Hidden within the game are four entirely new modes of play, unofficially called DS-ism, CE-ism, 3-ism and M-ism. DS-ism will let you pull off chain combos, advance guard and the like, similar to the Darkstalkers games, as you might've guessed. CE-ism will be a take on SFII: Champion Edition. There won't be super combos or anything of that sort, but damage will be high, and many of the old school tactics from SFII: CE still work.
The next two modes, admittedly, have my attention more so than the others. 3-ism, as has been stated thus far, makes the game play more or less like Street Fighter III: Third Strike, as you'll be able to parry, and move cancel specials into supers and such, though no EX moves. Then, there's M-ism, which'll reportedly be something like Marvel vs Capcom 2 without the Marvel characters. The characters that were in the MvC games will be fitted with their move animations from those games. I'm interested to see what modifications the other characters' moves will undergo. whee
Finally, it's slated to be out in the States around sometime during the summer, going for about $40. 3nodding

No kidding. whee I'm thinking that the only mode I won't like much will be the CE-ism. They tried that with the trick you could do in Alpha 2, and you also had a style like that you could choose in the console version of Alpha 3, and even then, I didn't like it much. M-ism and 3-ism have my attention. 3nodding

Funny thing about that is that's pretty much exactly what happened, except it was your brother and Trent (T.R.White here on Gaia) that pooled their money with mine to get it. xd Anyway, the SFA Anthology rocks hard. I love the new isms, and the console versions of the games aren't missing much of anything, really. Alpha 3 is missing World Tour and Final Battle, but everything else is pretty much intact, even Dramatic Battle, and unlike in the PSX version of SFA3, you CAN go through with any two characters you want to, instead of being forced to fight one round with them and have it be over. 3nodding My friends and I have had a blast with it thus far. 3nodding

jdr_172000 I would like to get the game. I remembered that they shown it on cinamatech once. I saw that one too. They put the vid together pretty well. 3nodding I just hate the way they up and cover everything with random music. It kinda takes away fromt he vid at times. neutral Know what I'm curious about? Where the characters stand with the extra isms added. I mean, Karin's gotta be like mid/upper-mid, but where would she stand while using, say, the 3S-ism, with parrying and such question
