((Yep. Title sucks. Whewt.))
She'd been awake for the whole day now and that was no ordinary feat. There was something about this wand that kept her watchful and awake. At least, that was what she assumed was the cause of this odd behavior. Kyo had been clinically narcoleptic as far back as she could remember, which wasn't really that far but...
Her eyes were clear of their foggy setting, dark blue and unbecoming among such pale features. They watched idly as the fish in the garden's pool mingled in a calamity of color, blinking every now and then. Despite her lack of sleep, however, she was still without a lot of energy. And so it was on a stone bench she sat, playing sentinel to both the inhabitants of the pond and the wand in her hand.
Atop the skull that ended the wand, a purple wisp wavered, leaning towards the most intelligent mind in the area, which happened to be Kyo at the moment. But it was used to her. Anything remotely smart that came along would easily gain its attention.

(*snickers* Not really. It works. ^^)
"FISHIE!"
"Yes, Cassi, there are fishies here." A short, blue-haired teenager grinned wryly as she stepped into the garden, pushing a large stroller literally filled with infants. Most of them were humanoid - if angel wings, tattoos, fangs, a demon tail and blue hair were human - though the two on the end were very obviously dragon children, one black, the other a mottled blue-and-white. It was the black one that had spoken, gazing avidly at the fishes with wide, mismatched eyes, one blue and the other crimson. Excitedly, she wriggled, tailtip twitching as she tried to worm her way free of the stroller straps. "Fishieeee! Pway wif fishie?"
Rune sighed, gently petting the round ball atop the wand wrapped and anchored on her hip. She hadn't exactly intended to bring her entire younger brood - six infants and two dragonets weren't exactly calming - but she'd found herself temporarily without a babysitter today, so she'd taken the chance.

Kyo perked at the exclamation, turning her head slowly in the direction of the child-ridden Rune. Oh my... The English teacher shifted where she sat, tugging her sleeves unconsciously down over each shackle-laden wrist.
"I assume there's a child from this place somewhere?" She implored softly, arching a brow. Made her feel a lot better that most of the ones she babysat were almost fully grown.
The wisp perked at the new arrivals, leaning towards Rune and stretching to its fullest extent. Many minds! One particularly bright among the group. That one must be the leader.

Rune looked up in surprise, not having noticed the garden's occupant, then grinned and nodded. Reaching into her belt, she withdrew the little wand and held it up. "This is Shane." She explained. Eyes flickered happily at the little whisp. "I'm Rune, and these - well, hang on a sec."
Tucking the wand carefully in the top of the stroller, she knelt and deftly untangled the little black dragonet from her position, setting the child on the ground. About the size of a large dog or a human toddler, "Cassi" squeaked gleefully, skittering on all four feet over to see Kyo. "Hi! Who?"

The woman stared quietly at the wand, though a small smile twitched at the corners of her lips. "It's a male. You already knew?" She asked curiously. When the little wrym was set loose, she didn't move, merely moved her head down closer. "She wont bite too hard, will she?"
Her own raven-colored hair cascaded downwards, dangling before the dark dragonette's face. "Nice to meet you Cassi. I'm Kyo." She lifted her wand slightly, allowing the wisp to be seen. "And this is... well. I haven't decided on a name for him yet. I'm waiting until I see him in a solid form. That's... a pretty curious wand you have there, Rune." Like hers wasn't.

Rune laughed. "She doesn't bite. Does give sloppy kisses, though." She grinned and unhooked the blue-and-white dragonet. "I assumed it was a boy, but I wasn't entirely sure. I figured if it turned out to be a girl, Shane could be short for Shalayne. So what's yours?"
Cassi, meanwhile, giggled and set both front paws atop the bench, nuzzling her small, serpentine face toward the wand and whisp. This was cool - and someone she'd never met before! Her tail twitched. "Pretty."

"I think I could handle those." Kyo replied with a smile and a wink. She watched as the second one was set free, reaching her fingers out cautiously to stroke the top of Cassi's head. "Mine? It's a male, I'm sure. A.. 'Mind-Flayer', also known as an 'Illithid' from what I've read."
A pause. It was a rather menacing name, and the species in which it categorized was nothing to spit at. Hopefully Rune wouldn't let it detour her. "What is yours?"
Meanwhile, the wisp leaned into the nuzzling, reaching out stubby purple arms to set upon Cassi's snout. She probably wouldn't feel it.
"Don't sneeze, or breathe through your nose." Kyo warned, lips tightening a bit in her worry. She didn't know what would happen should that wisp's form be disturbed by air.

(Damnit! Stupid post munching. *tries to remember her earlier post*)
"Shane be one of the wee people of the Emerald Isle." Rune couldn't resist the joke, voice accented well with Irish tones. Grinning, she added, "He'll probably be a merry prankster, this one. Cassi, be careful."
With a chirrup, the little girl dragonet lowered her head until the whispy arms were resting up near her eyes, safe from her careful breaths. "No hurt." She squeaked softly. "Ispie pretty."
"Whispy is pretty." Her blue and white brother agreed, nodding as he settled himself near Kyo's feet. He grinned up at the woman cheerfully. "Whispy like brother?"

"Ah..." It was a joke, clearly. The muscles in her face were used to being slack and without emotion other than her squinty grogginess. Still, she managed a small smile, placing a hand over her mouth to suggest she was hiding laughter. It was funny, she just couldn't... She needed a little more time in the waking world. At least now she wasn't nodding off when someone was trying to loop her into a conversation. She fingered the wand at the thought of this, but it soon escaped her mind like most things did.
"A leprechaun, then? Sounds like you're going to have your hands full." As if the poor child already didn't! She glaced to Cassi and her brother, nodding. "Yes, he is... I suppose. He's a boy. And he comes from a wand. What's your name, child?"
The wisp continued its search of Cassi's head, patting at her temples though emitting no force at all. It tilted its form to the slightly at the presence of a new form of intelligence, leaning for it and reaching.
"How long have you had your wand?" Kyo finally asked, before her eyes shifted to the side. "You didn't see a little brown-haired boy on your way in here, did you? He has spider appendages on his back. I was supposed to be watching him... but he decided to go play hide-and-seek without asking me first."

Rune grinned. "I'm used to it." She assured Kyo cheerfully, nodding toward the brood with a faintly sheepish expression. "There's at least twice this many at home. I tend to adopt kids quite a bit."
"Wots of bwofers an sissers." Cassi nodded, giggling at the movements of the little whisp. The little blue and white dragon grinned happily. "I'm Julian." He introduced himself with a gleeful tail twitch. The small infant Rune had just let out gave a laugh. "Julian, an me Oro Oro." His blue hair stood straight up in spikes, and blue eyes danced cheerfully.
"Horo Horo." His mother translated with a slight shake of her head. "And - no, I don't think I saw a spider child. What's his name?"

"Oh, really?" She lifted a brow slightly, her body now attempting to lift itself. "I have a... fondness for children myself." She had about twenty-eight humanoids to watch over, after all. "A pleasure to meet you, Julian. You look like a strong one... Horo Horo... Never heard of them, sadly."
A metallic clicking sounded and, for a moment, she paused to adjust her sleeves again. "His name is Nozami. I doubt he'd come if you called him, though. He doesn't... really like strangers. He's a shy child." The woman sort of drifted forth, weaving around the two dragons with a lazy sort of movement. The wand was pocketed, though the wisp still reached for the little minds it had been taken away from.
"I'm going to go find him. Would you care to look or keep an eye out for him?" Her eyes flickered down to Julian and Cassi. "I could use some good noses for this job. Or a good runner. He's fast. Any takers?"
The toddler perked in the bush inside which he sat, hearing his name ring clear not too far off. Nozami narrowed his soft, brown eyes quietly, drawing his knees closer to himself while the eight extra limbs upon his back curled themselves tightly to his body. They weren't going to come looking for him, were they? He was fine right here! Where it was dark and fairly warm...
