The human mind is amazingly complex, and amazingly powerful.
There have been documented cases where, using only sheer willpower, people have overcome cancer, as well as numerous other diseases.
Here's my question to all of you. We know that psionics exist, and that humans can do some amazing things.
Do you think it possible to transform one's body? Wether it be to heal an old scar, change some feature, or even become another person entirely. We already know we're capable of manipulating ourselves on a cellular level, is it possible to actually change one's self to a great enough extent to have visible physical alterations.
If so, how would one go about it?
This is pure speculation, so... speculate.

Shapeshifting I am doubtful of. But changing the qualities of ones body through ki manipulation? Absolutely. All one has to do is look as Chinese Martial Arts masters when they balance on the tip of a spear, walk on blades, break steel rods over their heads and place a sword onto their throat then support their body weight upon it.

Can anyone fill me in on who the hell this Chris Angel guy is? Kriss Angel is one of the most famous magicians of this generation, the other being David Blaine. Honestly, Kriss is a lot cooler. ^_^ However, he is a stage illusionist, with TV specials and the like. I've never actually seen most of his works, but I do have my reasons to doubt any authenticity to his feats until I see him myself. By the way, nice to see you again, Bow Boy. Anywho, on topic, what you're talking about (changing scars, etc.) would probably fall under biokinesis, an extremely dangerous and usually not even practiced psychic art. One tiny mistake could kill, like if you messed up one single gene...

Actually (I hate to contradict "Book Girl"), messing up one single gene wouldn't do much damage unless it was in a neuron, t-cell, or another cell that dosen't regenerate. If you altered one gene in a skin cell on your arm, the cell would most likely just die. Even if it did divide, if it was anything sigificant the cell would lyse. And actually, his name is Criss Angel. Just thought I'd say it. Arg, now I feel evil. But yeah, that's not really on-topic with the thread. Personally, I don't think shapeshifting would be a very good idea, and physically impossible, anyway. It may be possible, however, to alter how other people percieve you, but that would require a certain energy field, I think...I don't know.

No. Using a manner of psychic force to allow your body to perform "abnormal" feats? Certainly. Haven't you all heard the story of the Buddhist monk who, when in an anti-war protest (Vietnam, I believe) set himself on fire? He sat there, no screaming, no flinching, nothing, and just burned to death.

well it is a long lasting dream of mine. heart
first of all I think the thing you would be minipulating is your DNA and even more so your atoms to create the elements in wich shape youd want to be made, another thing is the changing and multiplication of mass, lets say for instance you wanted to be a bird, then a wolf, yous not only have to change the chemicals and compisition stuff but also the mass cause you cant go from being a small solid to larger solid without some way of doing it.
I then thought how germs work they multiply themselfs to make many clones, but obviously more, so after making mass youd probly have to change the elements that make a bird and ta da, your tweety bird!
oh and I dont know ware anybody wold get enough energy to do this espiecally at such a rate that wouldnt take five years or something, just my thoughts on it anyways.
but think about it if you could multiply and mulipulate matter and elements like that you could make 200 doller bills pop into your hand any time you like from the atoms out, what a sweet life that would be.
the key to all of this though would be a very carefully practiced perfection though, and biokinesis actuaully isnt to dangerious if you just dont mess up on certain strans : )
