Did anyone say anything about Obon yet? I would really like to go see the cherry blossom festival, Golden week , and the doll festival .

Kazeko Oneechan i don't know, if you ask me, unless you're Christian, Christmas has lost a lot of meaning in America too. to some of my firends it's just a day that you're obligated to buy someone a presnt... sweatdrop I like the Japanses holidays. Hamami is my Favorite i think. where else in the world is a national holiday/festval time that's dedicated to going outside and looking at pretty flowers ^^ i completely agree 3nodding is the tea ceremony a festival as well? or is it just a ceremony that happens whenever? or at a specific occasion?

In the US the only major Japanese Holiday that we observe as a community besides Shougatsu is Obon...and that's supposed to be Buddhist I believe. Buddhist wise, we recently observed Hoonko also. biggrin
Wisteria: Where are you going to observe Hanami?

aquaknight Is there a japanese new year? Yes in fact there is! It happens on the same day our new years happens and on new years eve they ring the bells 108 time I think for the 108 sins . Is this right? I don't remember if it is or not
