Lady Merewyn luftwafe Also the killings of the Romanovs was vengeance. Plain and simple. Not entirely vengance, but rather using harsh methods to achieve a political aim. What other way was there to completely ensure the destruction of the monarchy but to completely destroy it? It was not a pleasant thing to do, but at the same time, it did achieve the objective for which it was done. Again the family was to await trial. The Romanov killings were due to an ever increasing White Guard advance in the area the Romanov family was located. The Local soviets were told to make the decision, but stressed that if they could get the family out on a safe route to do so, however their was not a truely secure route to take with the advancement of the white Guard. The local soviets chose to kill the Romanov's instead of giving them to the advancing White Guard.

And if the White Guard would have gotten to the Romanov's it would have given them a rallying point to resetablish the old order, the monarchy.

So we are in agreement then? Awesome.

Quote: The Local soviets were told to make the decision, but stressed that if they could get the family out on a safe route to do so, however their was not a truely secure route to take with the advancement of the white Guard. incorrect. it was an on the spot decision, for the rasons you mentioned. Quote: The Whites were gaining ground and the local soviets called the move; whether it was supported by Moscow is a matter of opinion. the CC gave a retroactive order for the killings, a few days afterward. so no, it fact, not oppinion.

Ahh ok thank you for clearing the matter up. But it was the local soviets who carried out the order (duh).
