Aquarion Project Command Center
The central core of the Aquarion Project is a large, cavernous structure. In the center is a raised dias, upon which sits a ponderous desk rudely hewn from heavy oak. This humble yet bold furnishing is surrounded by an arch of computer stations. Each station is dominated by a central monitor and keyboard, with auxillary readouts, displays, and inputs surrounding the operator in a cockpit-like fashion. Each 'Operator Cockpit' is placed facing a single huge viewscreen, filling most of the cavernous architecture's forward section. As with other large rooms, words echo here easily, and despite the high tech consoles, the lighting is fairly simple: a series of hanging lamps, one above each Operator Cockpit, and one above the central desk. This lighting makes for a dark atmosphere with pools of light in strategically important places. The Command Center is cool, as if to suit the darkness, but not damp, and the air has a crisp freshness that belies it's underground location.

Promise me you'll edit that post into a description of some important ASDF room? biggrin
Aquarion Project is a GNG R&D project to develop an anti-paranormal/mecha ...mecha, headed up by Dr Shun Akimoto, aka my alt avatar MisterE. Dr Akimoto utilized a crystal that had been the source of a large problem in his past to develop the project. The premise behind the Aquarion Project is the utilization of Human Energy, called Chi by some, Prana by others, and Ki by a third bunch to have the mecha manifest in a currently-viewed-as-non-scientific way abilities that would be of use in combat versus primarily: angels, demons, magic users, unicorns, dare I say 'sentars' one more time... and secondarily: standard mecha.
Aquarion utilizes a Voltron-like transformation sequence involving three fightercraft called Vectors which can assume positions in either the Front/Head, Back, or Legs slots of the giant robot known as Aquarion. The name of the Vector that assumes the Front/Head becomes the name of the Aquarion. If Vector Sol is on top, then the name of the resulting giant robot is Aquarion Sol. This unification is not only physical for the mecha, but spiritual for the pilots. The crystals mentioned above act as an amplifier and a spiritual bridge, allowing the mecha to utilize a human energy that is three times more potent than an individual. Depending on their Chakra Sync ratios, the pilots are also capable of merging their strengths to form a new attack. A fencer and a hot-tempered young man might create a flaming sword attack for example.
As mentioned in Eileen's background, Eileen took extended leave from the main ASDF base to aid Dr. Akimoto with the preliminary test piloting phase, in exchange for ASDF gaining first dibs on the technology. The Aquarion Project will ICly be located in a renovated Invid Clam Carrier captured by a now defunct branch of the GNG. There will be four main areas: a Command Center, a Fabrication Facility, the Hangars, and the Test Pilot Training Facility. The Fabrication Facility will not be described, just assumed to be there in the IC background. When the Aquarion Project moves from Tokyo to the ASDF base, the Clam Carrier it is in will take off, move in a Terran Command Center fashion towards the ASDF facilities, then be buried underground on the ASDF campus.
The Vectors are tank-like in structural defensiveness, but lack maneuverability. Because they only form one third of a mecha, they do not have the agility associated with the VF series. Additionally, the density of the armor and the aerodynamics of the Vectors further makes them less maneuverable. Vectors are also only secondarily anti-mecha because they have only one weapon: machine guns, though the guns are probably equivalent to VF-1's GU-11 gunpods. The guns are fixed in the traditional 'only shoots forward' position. Vectors are all about the armor, basically: if a Vector crashes, it's very likely that the pilot is unconscious and needs medical treatment, some electronics are damaged, but the hull is completely intact, and should a different pilot get in, the Vector could be flown again easily (Vectors have limited VTOL capability).
My plan for the Aquarion Project is to give all ASDF pilots access to the Aquarion Vectors as alternative fightercraft for use in abnormal combat situations. More information can be found in the OOC: Mecha Discussion thread, the Post your IC profile! thread (Eileen's and Dr. Akimoto's backgrounds), and of course just searching for 'Sousei no Aquarion' on the internet. If you do the third, note that the Aquarion that Dr. Akimoto has developed is far less powerful than the anime Aquarion.
