Staring blankly at the wardrobe, Ivy sat on the bed and tried to focus her mind on something. Nothing made sense and her brain seemed to buzz with numbness of either no thought or too much thought. Her blurred eyes glanced around the room as she tried to gather collective thoughts. Then the plant in the corner caught her eyes. Ivy felt a bit of warm from that small, but mass of small branches and she stared at it with almost awe.

Standing up without realizing what she was doing, Ivy glanced around her new room and once again tried to think things over. She stood in a half slouched stance, trying to figure out what was going on and get a clear picture.

"Happy Birthday..."

...

...

What was a birthday?

...

...

It is the day you are born.

...

...

This idea seemed quite random but she was able to grasp it. Turning around her small room, she spotted the desk and took a few awkward steps toward it. Running her hand along its smooth service, she showed no sign of emotion and only watched her hand move. Standing like a bovine, Ivy stood as more ideas and thoughts came to her more clearly.

Looking at the softness of the bed and the postion of it being in the corner, she staggered back over to her it and laid down, staring straight up at the ceiling with her palms down on the bed and thinking slowly but with steadily gaining speed. Ivy closed her eyes to concentrate and began to meditate to control her raging thoughts.

....

Opening her eyes she began to understand things much more clearly, but some things would come quite slow to her. She grasped the perception of thought and wisdom of a small child and could understand and use her senses. But something seemed odd to her and she couldn't quite grasp what it was.

When Ivy looks around once more, there's a hint of a breeze but the windows are not open, it's as if something went pass. There beside the bed is a green paper wrapped gift box with a black ribbon bow. Inside the box when opened is what is called a compass, all shiney and golden.

On the back is inscribed these words.

May you never be lost,
May you path be true,
Just think of a place,
You'll be there in a few.

When Ivy wishes to go to a person or place, the compass's needle will point her, not in the direction to get there, but the path to get there. For instance it can easily lead her through the hedge maze.

Feeling an odd chill go down her skin, Ivy sits up and looks around. The window isn't open and windows produce wind from outside....so there shouldn't be wind in here. Her mind begins to work much better now and she gets up a bit baffled.

Then she spots the present on the nightstand. The colors instantly catch her eye and she walks over absent mindedly to it and stood there, just staring for a moment. Who could have left this.....?

Ivy continues to stare at the present until she finally reaches out to touch it. Grasping the present, she scuttles back over to her bed and sits with the box in her lap. She prods at it and then strokes the ribbon. Curiousity now overwhelming her, she pulls at the ribbon until it comes off and the neat green paper is left behind. She then begins to rip the paper off carefully and places the garbage on her bed.

She opens the little box and something small with a golden shine makes her pluck it out instantly. She doesn't know why she is attracted to shiny things but doesn't realize it too well either. She holds the small golden opbject and a half smile comes onto her face. She examines the nitches around the edge and directional pad with sudden understanding and looks around. Who left this?

Turning the compass over without bothering to look at the front again, she sees the words inscribed on the back.

May you never be lost,
May you path be true,
Just think of a place,
You'll be there in a few.

Ivy concentrates on these words and tries to comprehend what they might mean. A compass tells directions so I guess this is right...

Glancing around the room, Ivy again wonders who left this gift for her. She thinks a moment and looks at the words again.

Just think of a place......

Ivy tries to think of the person or creature that might have given this to her. The first thing that came to mind was that voice she first heard. That couldn't be it...

May your path be true......

Flipping the compass over, she notices the needle is focusing on the door, quivering almost as if it was excited. Ivy watches the needle and then realizes what the words mean. Getting up off her bed, she begins to walk towards the door, her eyes glued to the needle. Opening the door and without bothering to shut it, Ivy stands in the doorway.

You'll be there in a few....

The needle points at the stairs to her right and she trots down the hallway in that direction, her door gaping open. The needle cept pointing straight as she went down the stairs and then turned left as the stairs turned. She turned and followed the needle's direction out the front doors of the development house and into the daylight.

She blinked, her eyes unhappy with the first daylight she had really seen now and glanced around forgetting about the compass temporarily. It was beautiful out. Remembering what she was doing, Ivy turned her attention back to the golden compass in her hands. The needle seemed to point northwest of where she was standing. She began to walk the path down to the looming Gret Tower.

When Ivy reached the tower, she glanced up and peered at its height, shading her eyes against the sun behind it. Why was the compass pointing to this thing?

"Hullo?" She called out in a sweet, but determined voice.

A small breeze blows past her and ruffles her hair and dress as she looks up at The Door. She folds her arms against her chest, cradling the compass to herself. She waited patiently for a response for about a minute before she became a bit confused.

"Why did this thing point at you? I think its a compass or something." Ivy called up at The Door again. She stood and waited tentively, hoping to have some of her many burning questions answered. She blinked and then realized there would be no response again.

"Hey....can you talk?" She asked curiously and stared up at The Door. She again waited a long time for a response before she felt some sort of humiliation. Was she being fooled?

Ivy looked down at her feet and kicked at the grass before looking up again. "Well, whoever or whatever you are, the compass says you gave it to me. Ummm....Thank you....err...." She pauses a moment. "Have a nice day?" Ivy adds politely before scuttling back towards the development house.

She looked around the area for the first time and her eyes shone with curiousity. There were so many things to go and explore, but she didn't know what to go to first. Ivy glanced around as the wind blew her hair and dress gently around.

Wandering around for some time now, Ivy looks up into the blazing sun and sticks out her tongue. Gosh it was hot out! She panted like a dog and thought: Where is some water?

Ivy looked around and soon found out she was actually lost! She just realized the stupid compass was her only guide because she had no idea where she was. Pulling the golden object away from her chest, she looked down at it to notice it was pointing in another direction.

"I want water you stupid thing, and now you have me lost!" Ivy chokes out trying not to cry out of nervousness. She glared at the compass and debated throwing it, but decided not to. Out of desperation, she looked at the needle and then up in its direction. Where is it going to take me now?

Ivy hesitated before she took her first step, but pressed on forward. She has to get somewhere sometime. Maybe she'll meet someone that can point her back to her room or better yet, water. She was getting dehydrated!

To the lake! xd

Ivy walks away from the house and clutches the compass close to her. I just wanna go home now... she thinks to herself and glances around. Gosh, was it hot out today!

She pulls out her compass and holds it out straight in front of her, as if it would cast some sort of spell to get her home. Cast aside her imangination, it did not do this; its arrow simply directed her in the path she should take. Trotting along and watching the compass closely, she slowly made her way back to the only place she was familiar with.

It was getting a little dark when she opened the front door to the rooms in which her and the other Rosin resided in. The compass' needle lead her back to her room among all the other similar looking doors. Cautiously opening the door in case it was not hers, she entered her room and looked around like a stalked animal. Once she saw the familiar furniture and surroundings, she happily flicked on the light switch and flopped on her bed. What a day!

This was an exciting, yet tiring day. I hope tomorrow will be just as fun!

Yawning and stretching, Ivy glanced around the room. It was light out, she could tell from the light pouring in through the windows. Sitting up and scooting over to the edge of the bed, she hopped off and proceeded to make her covers neat and tight around the place she slept.

Scuttling over to the mirror, she noticed how her hair was messed up and the chopsticks were at the point of falling out. She couldn't go out like this! Taking off her dress, gloves, and shoes, she stood in her underwear in front of the wardrboe. Opening the doors, she glanced around for something nice.

A green camo tank top, she loved the colors dearly. Pulling it out, she slipped into it, not knowing that it pulled her chopsticks out. They clattered to the floor in a sound like a gunshot compared to the silence that she had been in. Jumping in alarm, she scooped them up and instantly was playing with her hair. How come she knew how to so naturally put her hair up like that?

Staring in the mirror, she gazed at her hair with amazement. Ivy then noticed the ivy vine going up her leg and was surprised she never noticed that before. She leaned over a bit and stared at it tentively, soon poking the leaf gently. The leaf shuddered and pressed itself against Ivy's leg, and this sent a tingle up her leg. She watched the leaf for a bit as it lifted it self slightly off the leg again and wondered how that worked.

Soon losing interest, she looked back into the wardrobe. She pulled clothes aside, debating some and pushing her little things to the side. Oh! Her black baggy pj bottoms! Those are nice! Grabbing them out, she slipped each leg into them slowly and pulled them up. She pulled the drawstrings tight and closed the wardrobe.

Ivy glanced back at her bed and the clothes strewn about it. Her gloves caught her eye and she put them on without hesitation. She loved those gloves. They made her look older. She quickly put her dress and stockings away in the wardrobe, whipping the door open. As she placed the dress in, a black ribbon landed on her shoulder. She glanced at it and pulled it off her shoulder. Staring at it, she put it around her neck and made sure it was tight, but not suffocating. ivy then tied a bow in back and she smiled. Perfect!

Something was missing though...Ivy looked around the room and that something glinted gold as a ray of sunshine caught it. The compass! Of course! Scuttling over to it, Ivy snatched up her precious item and flipped open the top. The needle seemed to be pointing north like it always does.

Ivy began to walk out the door and took one glance back in her room before she closed it behind her. She began to walk down the stairs that she went through a couple times now, and noticed a poster on the wall.

"CARNIVAL IN TOWN! AUGUST 20th-28th! COME HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE!"

Balloons and happy children were pictured on the poster. She stared at it and wondered where in the world it could be. The place in which she lived had nothing on it. She looked at the compass and noticed the needle wasn't pointing north anymore, but out the front door to the building! She followed the arrow and thus starting another day of fun.

TO THE CARNIVAL!

Ivy burst in the room and walked over to the desk she had quickly. Placing the bag with Spinner in it on the table, she stretched that arm as she trotted over to her bed and placed Fuzzle gently on the pillow. The room looked a little more decorative and lighter in color. Smiling, Ivy decided she wanted to put something up on the wall, so she began to walk out the door when she saw Spinner sag a little in the bag. He didn't look too good. Ivy frowned and walked over to him, realizing how small that little space must be for the poor fish. Where could she find something for him....Kyler said something.....a bowl?

Kyler can help Spinner! But where was he? Ivy bit her lower lip and then remembered: THE COMPASS! Pulling out her compass, she hoped and thought about where Kyler would be. The compass arrow spun in a circle once and then pointed in a solid direction.

"Don't worry Spinner! I'll save you!" Ivy said and ran out the door in the direction of the arrow.

BACK TO THE CARNIVAL!

Teetering into the room, Ivy gripped a bowl firmly and struggled to get it on top of her desk. It was very heavy! She grinned and pushed the fish bowl a little bit towards the center of the desk and then began to pull out the fish food she got on the way over.

"There you go Spinner! You look so much happier!" Ivy commented and squealed with laught as the fish spun around in the bowl happily. Sprinkling some food into the bowl, Ivy placed her head in her hands as she was in a transfixed gaze into the bowl. Her mind went over the encounter with Sparks.

...

She had walked up to him, Kyler showing her where he lived and then he had to go do something, I think he had to go back to that mean looking girl. She knocked on the door as the little man came out grumbling about "stupid constructs". Her eyes widened a bit in fright, but she gripped the bag with Spinner in it.

Sparks seemed to know what was wrong before she said anything. Patting her on the head, Sparks took the fish bag from her hands (she didn't know why she even trusted him and looked after him wistfully for the fish) and waited a few minutes. Then the man came out with a large clear bowl with water...and SPINNER!

Ivy remembered squealing with delight and instructions from Sparks on how to care for the fish. He warned her that fish may not live as long and need to be taken very close attention and care of.

....

Grinning, Ivy got up, placing her compass on the desk next to Spinner. She then yawned and stretched a little bit, realizing how tiring of a day it was. Her little legs were sore from running around all over the park and racing to save her little fish.

Going over to her wardrobe, Ivy changed into her button up green top and placed her old clothes in a pile next to the wardrobe. Walking slowly to the bed, Ivy glanced at the green bear she got from Kyler. Picking it up, she squeezed it and smiled. Ivy pulled back the covers to her bed and hopped in, feeling snug and happy. It wasn't hard for her to begin to doze off.

"Goodnight...Spinner.." She said sleepily and closed her eyes, hugging the bear close to her as she dozed off.

Waking up and groaning, Ivy covered her head with her pillow. I don't want to get up, too tired. Why did I wake up? She grumbled in her mind and peeked an eye open. It was barely light out.

Sitting up lazily, she peered around in her button up pajamas. Looking at the Ivy plant in the corner made her smile. That needs to be watered doesn't it? Ivy jumped out of her bed and wandered out the door to go get a glass of water for the plant. In a few minutes, the girl wandered back in holding a large glass of water and strode over to her precious plant.

"Here you go Mr. Plant! I hope you aren't too thirsty!" She said and smiled, pouring the cup out gently on the soil and watching it get moist. The plant was like kin to her, but she didn't quite know why. Was always like that.

Ivy giggled happily and set down the cup on the ground once she was done watering the plant. She stretched and yawned to try and wake herself a bit more when Spinner caught her attention.

"You must be hungry too little guy!" She commented and trotted over to him. Tapping the can of fish food above the bowl, Ivy watched as little flakes of food plopped on the surface of the water. Setting down the can, she put her head eye level with the bowl and watched as Spinner would swim to the top, eat a couple flakes, spin around happily, and then eat some more.

Ivy smiled brightly and walked over to her wardrobe, picking out the dress and outfit she was so used to wearing. Fixing her hair, Ivy thought about what she should do for today. I wonder if Kyler would be at his house today. I could go surprise him! She smiled gleefully and skipped over to her desk where she picked up her compass.

"See you later guys! I'll be back soon!" She called out to her "friends" as she skipped out the front door, closing it behind her.
