I think anybody who knows anime beyond the ones listed doesn't have a favorite sweatdrop

I actually prefer manga, though.... But I don't have a favorite, just ones I love dearly.

Although I think Gravitation would be pretty close to the top in the manga department (I didn't like the anime, it was...done odd), I love Maki Murakami's work...any of it. She's crazy and hilarious. Like when she has a guy try to bribe a shinigami with some money, and the shinigami considers it whee But that's in Kanpai!

Then I like Duck Prince, which I don't believe is an anime--but it's a fantastic manga by Ai Morinaga, who also made a pretty good comic out of Your and My Secret... Beautiful artwork all around.

I do love Sailor Moon, though. It was the one I was most obsessed with ever. My room was covered in wall scrolls, posters, dolls and collectables. I still have all of it. I have a ton of the art books, some of the novels Mixx put out, the separate manga that came out monthly and I have all but one of the graphic novels... I've attempted buying it, but I don't have 16+ dollars to fight a bid war over it gonk Now I just need to remember which one I'm missing... sweatdrop

sweatdrop Sorry, off topic...sorta.

Your really pushing the pop here....

I know by responding to this, I will be labelled an "Anime Fan." I'm not. I'm a fan of animation from any country. 90% of all anime blows monkey balls. But 90% of all movies blow monkey balls anyway. So it's not a big deal....

I'm a fan of the Miyazaki films, and Lupin the Third. Hell, Lupin the third is a huge inspiration to some of my action and humor styles as a filmmaker.

Most of the titles listed are on my "Never want to hear about again" list.

Because anime is so popular, and all anime is classified as anime, some shows will never get the recognition they deserve. Lupin the Third failed to take off in America due to poor translation and dumbass fans who b***h about the animation style, and how it looks old. Well, dumbasses, it is old. And ******** brilliant.

I didn't like Lupin the Third 'til I started to read the manga a bit, since my boyfriend likes the series and I was thinking of attempting to start buying the manga for him as presents, since he told me the series is impossibly long and he'd never have the money for all of it sweatdrop

And the animation grew on me, but because of my style when I draw being completely different I think that was more of the reason why I disliked it. Actually, I really just disliked the way he drew guys.

Although I think more of the reason why good shows don't tend to take off in America is because in the past they were "dumbed down" for kids because animation was assumed to be child-oriented in nature. Obviously Japanese and American cultures are different, in that even their children's shows were edited to be more "appropriate" for American children. It's just now finally coming to the understanding of companies that the people who they're making the money off (the anime fans) of don't want them to dumb it down, they want it to be as true to the original as possible while still being brought over and translated for them. As well as poor translation, but that's changing a lot because anime is becoming so mainstream. But in the past fantastic anime has been butchered by American companies because they hadn't learned that it was pointless to do so. So many good animes have gotten a bad rap because of that.

It's still entirely too expensive, though, so I'll stick with my manga. And I'm sure I could borrow anime from my co-worker if I really wanted, as he's bragged to me numerous times about having over 700+ titles in his collection sweatdrop And he seems so normal, too confused

Yea for anime! heart I hate to admit to being an anime fan because some fans are so rabidly obsessive and sometimes just downright rude. But I cannot deny that I love anime. I even started an anime club at my college. I've been watching anime for awhile - my early favorites were the ones only on insanely early on Saturday mornings in the 80's - Gigantor, Gobots, Dragon Ball, etc. Then I started watching Sailor Moon when it came on in the mid-90's, though I wasn't aware of it being "anime". The sci-fi channel also aired some great older anime movies in the 80's and 90's (Project A-ko, Venus Wars, Tank Police, Green Legend Ran, and all that good stuff that the Pokemon Generation hasn't seen crying ). I love the fact that Cartoon Network picked up some anim eand made an anime block, because I really think they (and the channels that aired Pokemon) are the ones that really kick-started anime mainstreaming in America.

That being said, I do have a life outside of anime, so I don't consider myself a true otaku. But I'm pretty close. sweatdrop I'm such a nerd.

I don't really have favorites, as others have said is true for them as well, but I do tend to prefer shoujo over shounen. If I had to give my top few, I'd rank Infinite Ryvius, Princess Tutu, Fruits Basket, Outlaw Star, Kaleido Star, Zone of the Enders, and Princess Nine at the top, though I'll always have a soft spot for Sailor Moon. Manga-wise, there's too many favorites for me to even begin to list, though almost all of it is shoujo. My first few series were Sailor Moon, Fushigi Yugi, and Cardcaptor Sakura; I've recently become hooked on W Juliet, Bleach, and Prince of Tennis. Also, Fruits Basket is probably my favorite! And that's my 180 cents worth. Sorry I rambled.
