Does anyone know about (or understand) the gospel of Judas, that people say has been found not too long ago? Apparently it is the "missing part" of the Holy Bible.

What is the gospel of Judas all about? Is it even true that it really is a missing part of the Bible?

From what I've heard, christians are discussiong whether or not it's message is good or bad. Some believe that it is a new, better, way of understanding the Bible, and some people think that the gospel has nothing to do with the Bible or christianity what so ever, and that it should be ignored.

I'm not sure what to believe. Do you?

EDIT: This saturday (27th) National Geographic channel (IN EUROPE ONLY) will have a programme about the gospel of Judas. It sounds very interesting, so don't miss it! I think it's at 7PM.

It is a false gospel that some are trying to bring in or say that our current bible is wrong. It is one of the gnostic sect of writings. Besides, we christians already have a book of Judas. The book of Jude is the book of Judas. The book's name in the greek is Ioudas, the same name as both the apostles with this name.

A false gospel? Is that really so, or is that only your personal opinion? Because I've heard both sides on this matter, and I would like someone to explain it to me so that I (and others) can make that decision for ourselves.

But you apparently seem to know about the gospel, so perhaps you could tell us more about it?

I saw a programme about the gospel of Judas on Nation Geographic a couple of days ago. And as I understood, it's message is that Judas wasn't the "evil" apostel, he was in fact the most intelligent and faithful one.

The gospel says that at the last supper, Jesus offered his followers to learn about the happenings in the future. He asked everyone who was brave and mature enough to stand up in front of him and say that they were ready for it. But only Judas actually stood up. So Jesus took him outside and told him about the future, and what needed to be done. And that's why Judas went to betray Jesus, because he knew it had to be done so that people would know how great the love of Jesus was and that they could be liberated from death and sin.

What are your thoughts about that?

It's one of the Gnostic gospels and it was found in Egypt I think. It is obviously not a real gospel, not only because it was written way after the real gospels, but also because it simply doesn't have the common thread running through it. Read you Bibles and you'll know what that means.

Okay... this gospel isn't new stuff. It's been around, already rejected, and it actually attempted to paint the other gospels as false concoctions aimed at calumniating Judas out of Jealousy. That is why it was rejected. Make sense? It is a gnostic gospel, not a real one, and has been proven to be a fabrication. The show was basically aimed to ride the wave of the DaVinci Code in trying to suck the faith out of Christians. I can't empasize enough that it is false, is nothing new (it was actually refered to and rejected in very early Christian writings) and really is only the focus of attention because its authenticity could be used to claim that Christianity is false. Make sense?
