::Rough & Tumble Games::The purpose of this thread is to get owners playing with their creatures. Puck likes games alot. The contests will be here to not only exercise your pet but its physical and mental fitness. The list may or may not include all of the types listed below:
Pouncing This is a jumping contest based on distance which will be determined by a random number between 1-7 for 1-7 feet. This event is for 5+ creatures at one time. This is a group event.
Races This is a match between two, but each participant must be owned by a different owner. Both cannot be owned by one person for this event. Races will be bracketed by first/second. The first place pet will be moved forward in the Gold bracket while the second place pet will will move to a Silver bracket where the winner of the Silver will get a chance to challenge the winner of the Gold in a 2 out of 3 win to see who is top in speed.
A list of those participating will be compiled and posted so that a challenge can be made.
Puzzles This could include a simple path through an area or a challenge based on actions. It would be written out in a short paragraph as the solution. These could be personal or group events.
Word Games Riddles, puns, poetry all could be included here. These will show up at random but are based on a personal event rather than a group event.
Obstacle Courses This would be a group event where obstacles would be tossed at random into a storyline. Think of it as a short quest.
Other types contests or matches may be added later. There are no statistics based on strength, dexterity, etc. This will be strictly determined by what is posted in reply and points obtained for each action taken.
Example....
Your pet enters a Pounce, a Race, and a Puzzle game. It is awarded points for each action it is involved in. So many points per post will be awarded for each post until the event is over. The event winner will be chosen by points or by random should it be necessary to break a tie.
Now for the
Rules... Yes, we need them...
1. Control only your own pet. Noone else's. You will be disqualified should you attempt to do so or your pet does.
2. No whining, complaining, or begging. -_-
3. Those in charge are to be obeyed and not badgered.
4. Remember, these games are IC. If you have a question OOC, please post it the way you would OOC questions during an RP.
5. And yes, these are almost a duplicate of the rules at the Puck's Wood and CE guilds for a reason. Eftemie and Chaeval figured it out to be used at The Little Loved Ones, Puck's Wood, and Chaotic Exceptions Guilds. But each will be run very differently though they have the same base ideas. Each shop is unique and these events will be adjusted to suit the participants.
To sign up, look for A "Rough & Tumble" sticky thread [R&T] and post your interest for the event that is being offered there.Current Event
Limerick Contest
Yes, you heard me right. A limerick contest. And we have to have a few rules or there would be mass mayhem, hysteria, and a few other big words I might not want to mention because it would give you ideas. Puck might enjoy whatever happens, but I'm not sure Chaeval or I or the Wood's residents would.
1. Only one limerick entry per critter.
2. Gaia ToS apply so abide by them. Please remember that others do read these boards sometimes and abide by the normal limits that are already set.
3. Do not copy anyone else's wording or idea. We will frown on that.
4. Verboten.
5. Have fun. Be creative or face the wrath of... Puck? XD
6. Be nice.
7. We reserve the right to change things should it become necessary.
The contest begins now (7-30-05 and ends on 08-20-05 at 12 PM EST). Another note, you do not have to post it immediately. Think about what you want to write your limerick about before you just post something. You have 3 entire weeks to come up with something. That's plenty of time.
You can roleplay your pet making it up or you can roleplay them doing something but write it as a limerick.
Don't understand entirely what a limerick is?
"A light, humorous style of fixed form poetry. Its usual form consists of five lines with the rhyme scheme aabba; lines 1, 2, and 5 contain three feet, while lines 3 and 4 usually contain two feet. Limericks range in subject matter from the silly to the obscene..." as defined by Glossary of Literary Terms
An example:
MERLIN AND THE FIRE DRAGON TRICK
King Arthur has old Merlin sought,
The magician foresees why he's brought;
"I know all you desire,
I will assist, sire,
I've given the matter great thought.
The king smiles with amazed delight,
"The prince is five in a fortnight.
A nice magic show.
A half hour or so.
But no tricks that will cause the kids fright."
Merlin frowns and is slightly insulted,
"Last year you were fully consulted.
A minor mistake.
That kid in the lake.
Just a bit small to be catapulted."
The king nods and speaks very sweetly,
"His mother forgave you completely.
Just take more care.
A big crowd will be there.
It's important the show goes off neatly."
Merlin smiles and describes his new trick,
"This trick is the best I could pick.
A dragon appears.
Smoke pours from his ears.
His breath lights a large candlestick."
The king is unsure when he's done,
Fire dragons are something to shun;
"There must be no hassle.
Don't burn down the castle.
No guests set on fire for fun!
