The waters of the Marsh of Evermoor are more fetid and muddy than many other places. Although its water is seldom more than a few inches deep, the marsh is a nearly impassable area of loose mud and thick rot. Quicksand traps abound and one foot misplaced drags the careless under.

Beware stories of lost treasure as this marsh is a confusing mass with many vile things hidden there. One danger is the Waterleaper. The size of a small cat, it can spit poison several feet. Waterleapers lie in wait on the unsuspecting prey within a mass of rotting vegetation, jumping outwards to bite with a mouthful of sharp teeth. Their wings do not allow them to fly, but they can glide a short distance easily.

Another danger is the Mudge, a large eyed slimy creature with four short stubbly legs and tail that balance it so that it can move easily across the mass of rot it lives in. About the size of a five year old child, the mudge is more dangerous than it appears and can fool even the strongest with it's innocent appearance.

If you were to take the most unusual and creepy thing and put a face to it...you would likely have a mudge. Named for their muddy and sludge like appearance, as well as for their mumbling attempt to talk...these creatures are not in anywise a companion for those that would like a warm and fuzzy pet.

Often found in packs, that is also when they are most dangerous. Their chorus of half burbled yips and bays are truly eerie. In the dark, their eyes are luminescent...and for some, that is the last thing that they see.

Mudges are omnivorous. Their jaws have the ability to unhinge, like a snakes... enabling a large maw that can swallow many things whole. Their digestive juices are a viscious thing, able to burn through rock.

You would have to be a stranger indeed to lore not to recognize this beast. Pure and noble, the Unicorn are often found in male/female pairs. A Unicorn mates for life, and if their mate dies...the remaining partner soon follows.

Hunted for their alicorn, these creature sought the help of the trickster to survive. He has granted them their plea and they are under his direct protection.

Besides the Trickster himself, the Daeva are the most mysterious of the Wood's known inhabitants. They are solitary creatures, mating for life to their one true intended. Mystical and austere, these creatures bring great blessings...but not without a price.

To befriend a Daeva is the greatest of boons. But it is not an easy task at all to do so.

The Daeva are known in other cultures by different names. The most known identitiy of a Daeva is the title "Luck Dragon"
