One-off || Phaid

Slinky body, fluffed wings, and slightly swishing tail. Phaid was the epitome of lazy as he curled in the sunlight outside the Lupix Sanctuary. He'd been down in the laboratory with Syrie earlier, but had grown tired of the "canned air" scent that permeated the underground facility.

That, and the fox had gone deeper, to the Under-place. Not Phaid, not Veloren the lykin, nor any of Syrie's pets/children/gadgets were allowed to go there. It was expressily forbidden. Even Uisce, the noisy black monster of a Nightmare that was always with Syrie was allowed there.

Of course, that made Phaid curious. But he'd long since learned that the Under-Place was one of the few points that Syrie would never be made to budge on, and though his natural curiousity burned thinking about it, he'd been forced to push it from his mind most of the time, and generally just ignored that it existed.

It was easier that way.

He chuffed and shifted his position, stretching his wings out languidly to sun them - the warmth made him purr with delight, at least it did until Heka's massive body obliterated the sunlight as she passed. The Lupix was one of Syrie's oldest companions as well as his protector, his Sister-Become.

The pard couldn't have put it into words had he been so inclined. And he wasn't. Heka was something he tolerated because he had no choice; she was nearly twice his size, with claws and teeth far larger than his own. Also, the beast was smart...much more intelligent than he'd given her credit for during their first encounter.

Today, the great purple Lupix flopped near him, jaws dropping open a bit as she did so. Her movements were slightly stiff, as though she were in pain. It was possible; she was the matriarch of the Lupii and as such got into a lot of "scuffles" in the course of her day.

Phaid cocked his head to one side and flicked his long tail, glad when she lay down for that allowed the sunlight to warm him again. His rounded ears twitched a bit; politely he offered greetings, and politely they were returned.

The siamese colored pard eyed Heka thoughtfully - once his nimble brain had latched onto something, he just couldn't let it go. Perhaps he would be able to figure out what had made the other hold a slight limp in her step...perhaps not. He did not speak her language, nor she his; their communications were of the elegant but crude sort involving body language and similar sounds. Certainly not enough for the specifics his curiousity demanded.

"Phaid?" Veloren, a slender Lykin child that held the same sort of coloring that Phaid did came out onto the victorian style porch that wrapped around the Grand Manor and called for his father's Pard companion. While Phaid had been a gift to the russet kitsune, he'd acutally spent more time with the candy-pink lykin than the man.

Ren - as he was known by close friends and family - didn't know that his father had asked the intelligent creature to keep an eye on him; if he had, the Pard would never have been allowed to spend as much time in his apartment as he did. He may have looked under-aged and meek but the lykin was very stubborn, and very independant.

Certainly, he loved his adoptive parent and all the "kids", but there were scars on his heart and in his past that required space - among other things - to heal. Thick fluffy tail twitching out from under a skirt, Veloren walked to the marble steps that would lead him out into the front drive where Heka and Phaid were currently sunning themselves.

"I'm going home, if you wanted to come with?"

The lykin's tone was slightly hopeful, however he would not press the Pard to come with him..he simply enjoyed the company. Phaid would sit and listen to him talking for hours, and the large feline creature's body language never grew bored. In fact, he'd grown quite good at reading it and communication between them was fairly clear for the most part.

Eventually, perhaps Phaid would learn to speak to him, or not. Veloren didn't mind either way.

As pleasant as laying in the grass was, Phaid enjoyed spending time with the young kit, so he rose to his feet after stretching and arching his sleek body. 'Yes, yes...I'll come...' The Pard's ears twitched, and he padded across the grass to join Veloren, his tail flicking back at Heka in a dismissive manner that was rather typical of his relations with the Lupix.

She understood. Or didn't care, because she never growled nor fought with Phaid when he did that. And likely never would - Syrie had her under strict orders to not chase/maul/spindle/nor eat the Pards - or any of his kids for that matter.

Lucky Pard.

Phaid and Veloren made their way back into the Manor to get ready for the trip into the city, the lykin rambling on about what he'd fix them for dinner that night...

One-off || Equinox, Tougen, Miel

Crickle crackle - leaves snapped and broke beneath the Pard's considerable weight as he moved through the gloomy darkness of the forest; his exotic coloring blended fairly well with the greenery though his markings stood out in sharp relief - gold was ne'er well hidden in forests!

Still, even had he been completely camoflauged and as light on his feet as a tiny butterfly, he would have had a hard time going unnoticed. Something about the three-headed winged Pard's very aura seemed to warn off most of the forest dwelling creatures before he came near; it was only the very strong, or the very careless ones that he ever saw...and they swiftly found themselves shrieking between the monster's powerful jaws.

Not even the largest game creature could outrun Equinox for very long; his long, heavy limbs always ended up over-taking them, and all met bloody ends by his fangs, his claws. The blood was exciting, and typically after a fresh kill the Cerberus-type would meander over to the nearest body of water to admire his newly "painted" self before plunging into the water to bathe.

Today, he was not hunting - at least, not actively. Two of the three heads were satiated, and the third didn't care enough about food or the thrill of the chase to try fighting with the others when it didn't have to. Instead the tri-headed creature was simply out for a walk, perhaps even a short round of flight - odd as that might have seemed to another, even wicked creatures sometimes had "down time".

Equinox whuffed, the middle head low to the ground as he prowled; in the trees, a lone bird trilled and warbled at the empty sky - it's song-speech marked the Pard's journey ever deeper. He had not planned it, but it seemed he was headed to one of the smaller of the lakes on the Sanctuary Grounds. Perhaps his restlessness would be assauged by a long swim, some time spent catching fish.

If, by chance, there were none of the Lupii around. Tougen and Phaid might have gotten along passably well with the large, lupine creatures...but Nox hated them passionately. As a race, Pards were usually not inclined towards being uptight and hateful towards other species, but then again...he was a rather unusual Pard. He could not abide the slavering beasts - they were ugly. Bulky, and with none of the grace inherent in his own breed.

'Abominations...' He thought to himself in a deep, echoed voice.

Tails lashing as he moved closer still to his destination, one of the heads on the heavy body snapped at a butterfly as it passed, catching and eating the glimmering insect before the other two heads even realized it was there. Snap. Swallow. And it was gone. The middle head snorted, and the one on the far right rolled it's eyes, but the creature didn't pause or deviate from it's intended route.

Sensitive ears picked up the sound of something playing in water long before the small lake was visible to Equinox, but only after he's caught the scents. 'Tch...' Still...maybe he was wrong. Not likely, but perhaps...it had happened before. Huge wings shifted and stretched away from his sleek-but-bulky body as he moved out of the denser forest and into the open.

As luck would have it, the creatures playing in the water were not Lupii, but Tougen - the Fae Pard that always scented of ozone - and a small black and silver furred kitten that Nox did not recognize. 'It could have been worse...' he reminded himself; big paws sinking into the soft grass and sand of the small lakeside beach. Three sets of ears flicked when the Fae-type called out a greeting, but he did not respond in kind, and after another few attempts at being polite, the storm-aspect decided it wasn't worth his time and went back to watching over/playing with the toddler-kitten.

Nox slid his body into the water up to his belly and purred at the coolness lapping at his fur; great nearly-iridescent wings drooped out to his sides, the feathers trailing into the water and becoming heavy from the moisture they absorbed - certainly he wouldn't be flying any time soon, but he didn't care. It felt wonderful, and all three heads half closed their bright eyes, pleased.

Tougen whuffed at the small kitten he had "adopted" - the child's name was Miel, and it seemed that he had a few quirks of his own - not that the fae-pard minded at all, he rather liked the small child...certainly he liked the toddler more than he liked Equinox. Something aobut the cerberus pard stroked his fur the absolute wrong way; though he did make the effort to be tolerant and polite.

He watched the tri-aspect for a moment, making certain he was too busy to harrass either himself or the child, and then went back to playing; studiously ignoring the other Pard while trying to lure Miel into another area to play. It just wasn't safe - there was no telling what the other would do if Miel got on his nerves, and Tougen would not take that risk with a kit...not one of his own, and definitely not with one he was supposed to be watching!

Eventually he was able to get the child to come away with him, and the darkly colored pair slipped off into the trees to find a more...companionable place to play.

Equinox tolerated the pair reasonably well by keeping most of his body under the water - ears included - but he was quite pleased when they left. He hauled his sopping wet self out of the water and shook like a giant dog; that accomplished, he flopped onto the sun-warmed grass for a nap - perhaps later he would hunt, but for now, his restlessness was alleviated and he could enjoy lazing about; all three heads content and aggreable for the moment.

3 Eggs via the breeding - Top egg & green egg will go into my care, but the pearly-gold one is going to Prolixity.

Zwielicht - The first to emerge from her egg, this girl seems to have much of her daddy's attitude; cared for by Syrie
Samsara - The second of the nest to emerge, she is quite curious and seems to have inherited the Seer magic from Equinox; cared for by Prolixity
Faint - The third and final of the eggs to hatch, Faint required help from one of the Aviary's healers to emerge. He is small and seems to be stunted, it is not likely that he will ever grow or breed - being so frail requires much attention, but he will live; cared for by Syrie
