Hey everyone. I don't have the game yet ((will be getting it on Monday)), but my friend got it last night. We both use laptops... and they don't have keypads. And she cannot do anything at all, because she cannot open the main menu or something. So..... is not having a keypad a major problem? Or is there some way to get around it???

O.o;;;;; no keyboard?!
to efficiently(sp?) play FFXI you MUST buy a full sized keyboard. This game envolves a lot of typing as after the first 10 lvls you spend 75% of your time with other people. you could play with a compact keyboard but the controls are much different and people will not be able to help you learn them as easily....
It's one thing to play the game, but another to feel in "total control." you don't want it to take 3 seconds to find the right button to press. 3 seconds is a loooonnggg time... having full knowledge of what all the buttons do, and all the shortcuts you can use, will REALLY enhance your game play.
also, you do NOT need a mouse... switching from mouse to keyboard is a pain in the arse XD keep 2 hands on the keyboard and you'll do great ^^;
hmmm, i think i wanna make a big diagram of a keyboard now and all the things u can do O.o;;.... i'll post it here if i ever to come around to making it xd
