Kohki I fully support using the original definition of words. And while I don't give a ******** about 'Straight Rights', I do care about not having the Gay Rights Movement take a step back due to heterophobic comments like 'That's so straight!' as a euphenism for stupid. It's just replacing one word for another. That being said, we also need a new English word for singular gender-nonspecific, because it's sexist to use either" he" or "she" individually in manuals and such, and it's gramatically incorrect to use anything besides 'It', and 'It' is demoralizing to some people. But anyway: Replacing one form of hateful language with another is adding to the Anti-Gay Movement, not the Pro-Gay Movement. As usual Kohki is right ^^ heterophobia/bashing will not help reduce homophobia in anyway whatsoever u.u

I dunno....I like the idea of using "That's so GAY!" in a positive way (i. e. happy), but saying, "That's so STAIGHT!" to indicate negativity sounds pretty stupid, in my opinion. Not to sound snippy, but in case you haven't noticed, this is the Gay-Straight Alliance. Because a lot of straight people use "gay," "f**," or "queer" as an insult, we have to take the high road and not act the same way.
And, by the way, whenever someone says, "Ohmigod, that's soooooooo gaaaay," I always ask them WHY it's gay. Usually they either have no comeback, a stupid comeback, or they walk away. But when I manage to hold a conversation about it, I ask them to replace "That's gay" with"That's MEXICAN." After all, it's the same basic principle. (By the way, I have nothing against Mexicans. I'm just trying to make a point. And, usually, people start thinking twice before they say it.)

I like this idea too, showing people why say "that's gay" in a negative connotation is worng, and I also like the use of "That's Gay" in positive connotation ^^

My friends and I were going to do it but we decided it would be idea so now when every someone says "That's gay..." we reply "What is it gay with!?!" -or-"A (inanimate object here) can't be gay because it doesnt have sex."

As good intentioned as this idea is, I can't say that I really like it. Especially the part about saying "That's so straight". In my opinion we simply shouldn't use it to mean anything at all... does that make sense?

or if I were still in KC, MO, "that's bootsy" or "thats crazy"

Well, yeah, that will just make us look bad in the long run, but my friends have this little thing we do with the word "f**."
We call each other fags all the time! xd In a positive way, of course. "Funny f**," "crazy f**," etc; now the word is not offensive and really funny. biggrin

There are a BUNCH of words, in the English language particularly, that are used COMPLETELY different in modern times than they once were. I totally get where you're coming from, and if the peson you're talking to has half a brain, they'll get it and change their ways.
