The Wendigo was also featured on the show Psi Factor (does anyone remember that show?). It chronicles the discoveries of the Office of Scientific Investigation and Research (Canadian I think), and one of their discoveries was a wendigo in northern Manitoba. Apparently a wendigo hunter had accidentally been "infected" and became one himself. He was eventally killed (in self defence of one of the team researchers) and his body burnt. The wendigo in this story was simply a canniblistic, homicidal man driven to madness. With years of hunting, and survival skills, and native lore behind him he was far more dangerous than any normal canniblistic, homicidal maniac you run into.

An interesting thing about the wendigo is that it can be both a physical entity, or an entity that takes possession over a human. Common ways to become a wendigo possessie is to commite cannibalism or dream of a wendigo. Sweet dreams everyone!
