Breeding
Breeding

The way of breeding in Puck's Wood has always been as a magical dance. Think of Midsummer's Night Dream and the way they danced while music played. It's very similar. Breeding does not take place physcially, but magically. The wood is only so large and this is one way of maintaining the balance there.

When the music of Nature fills the wood, slipping through gently, Puck knows. He readies his flute and begins to play during the months of June and July. These two months are the only time breeding is accomplished as the wood is between spring and fall. Summer is the time for relaxation, children, and happiness in the wood and these two month's embody that.

Puck has caused this to change. Interferring in the natural music of the Wood, he has mischieviously allowed breeding to take place at anytime during the year. The Wood is definitely out of sorts by this and to the amusement of Puck himself, the inhabitants may find themselves parents even in the midst of winter.

That's the basics, but the rules... Yes, sorry, I have rules for this.

1. Anyone and everyone can be involved in the dance whether male, female, or androganous. This is a magical dance and can be roleplayed as such. Only those who pay the fee get a child resulting from this activity though.

2. The cost of 1500 gold per child- trade must be sent before breeding takes place. It will be confirmed before placing into the slots. This is half the price of a normal pet. This is a reasonable price considering it will go through all the stages.

Except the griffon. We only have one stage for it. We are not entirely certain how the griffon breed yet. (Suggestions?) One can join the dance and show up sometime later with a fully grown adult son or daughter at its side. Strange.. but who can say but Puck what the griffons think or do?

3. Children are not co-owned. No exceptions. This is because each person that pays the fee gets a child. You may, however, give your child to a friend to take care of. Fostering their children out is an acceptable choice in Puck's Wood as it keeps the inhabitants closer to each other.

4. No cross-breeds. No lineart edits. Don't even ask. Each breeds true. If you have a mudge. You get a mudge. If a chirra, then a chirra. No exceptions. A Wyrm and a firebird breeding would end up with distinctly wyrm or firebird children though the colors may cross over. The choice of which child you take from the breeding is up to you and the person you are breeding with. You must decide amongst yourselves.

5. Each pet may only breed once a month. Please note.. I said pet... not owner. This is reasonable as they are not baby farms. :/ Don't ask for more than this.

6. This is does not have to RP'd out, but if the dance is roleplayed, a chance occurs in which there may be more children. If you do wish to RP this out, then I ask you to obey Gaia's ToS and to start a thread in the guild for this purpose. It simply makes it easier for me to check and see what occurred and reward you. smile

7. Remember that this is about having fun. If I see a need to change any of these rules, I will do so at any time. smile

Breeding will be announced in the shop thread and posted in announcements. Questions about breeding can also be asked there.
