((Another one I'm quoting over to gaia cause it never got finished XD))
Arafel shifted.. it was wierd. So many humans around now, and none seemed to quite understand that just because she had a tail didn't mean she was going to eat them and their children.
Her fingers slowly lifted to trace the cut on her face, giving a sharp inhale and flinch as the cut protested at being touched. Atleast it would heal fast...
She flopped down by a large lake... taking a glance around to see who might be there, satisfied after seeing nor smelling no traces of anyone she plopped into a sit infront of the calming sounds and sight of the mass of water, kicking off her shoes and growling at the heat of summer.
After a few minutes of just sitting there, baking in the heat she forced herself up.. glancing around once more before shedding the layers of clothign adn diving into the water for a good ol fashion swim. And maybe get some fish... Fishing poles were overrated, she'd just use her canine instincts. Booyah.

As long as her "little" brother didn't show up and scare them all off.. leaving her to nearly starve to death.. again.

Freize
The mutt was quite aware of the odd glances he recieved as he entered this area. There were many of those purebreed humans around, weren't there? He wasn't quite fond of the concept, being that his past amongst humans wasn't too good, and it was proving that it wouldn't be getting any better soon. Tch. Just as well. He would fetch his own food and care for himself as he always did. Really, just because you move to a new area doesn't mean those humans would come to accept a creature like you.. He let out a sigh and then continued slipping his way through the trees.

He trodded lightly on the roughened pads of his feet, gaze snapping about. He was in stealth mode. Most certainly if anyone caught him out here he would be attacked, and he would have to hurt someone in order to get away. He didn't want that, it wasn't like they thought. He just didn't want to die.

He settled himself down on a rock, pulling out the fishing rod. He had made it himself, of course. No one would have sold him one or dropped one. It was rather simple, but... It would work. Ack... What would he use to lure the fish?... He searched the ground near the rock for a large bug, stuck it to the metal and then casted his line..

He probably wouldn't get much, but he needed to eat something, right? Even he couldn't live forever off of air and water alone.

Aa.. thankgoodness for an unhuman ability to hold your breath. She glanced around, sticking herself to the bottum of the lake and waiting for the fish to get comfortable with her. She wasn't all too sure how she was able to hold her breath like this, probably some sort of elven magic she didn't know about...
Not like she knew much about her bloodlines.
Closer...closer....

Aa! she whined inwardly as the fish scattered suddenlly, and tried to keep herself attached to the rock she had grabbed ahold of to stay submerged.. Fishing like this didn't exactly work if you floated up to the surface.

She stayed perfectly still watching the fish come back.. eyes following it as it swam right up next to her and ate a bug of some sort. Why was a beetle way out here? Aa well no matter...
She quickly clamped her canines down into the fish, giving a mental huzzah as she had caught it. Then turned to swim back to her clothers.. the only thing that stopped her was a harsh jerk that she got when she tried to move with the fish. Like it was attacked to something....

(I can't repost my last one... So I'll have to summarize again x__X Gomen. I just feel bad about leaving this one because it ate my post and all of that... I'll give you plenty to work off of, honest.

So.... TA DAH:

Freize was thinking about how he didn't float well in water so he was stuck fishing like this, and some other random stuff... Angst towards the current villages he went through that seemed to hate him so much... He always decided that fishing would be his easiest way to get fish, as a 'mutt vs. a fish wouldn't be too hard of a match... He feels himself being pulled slightly, and is surprised by the strength of the fish. He jerks it slightly and then uses more of his strength and attempts to pull in his catch, quite confused and a bit hopeful. He was hungry.

THE END.)

the poor were-elf didn't have a clue what was happening. She was just trying to dodge rocks as she was being reeled in. What was going on?!
A trap maybe? Oh crap. This would end in another scar, wouldn't it..?

She was soon nearing the surface, good thing too.. her lungs were starting to ache from holding her breath so long. It wasn't supposed to be this long, she was supposed ot have gone to the surface with teh fist immediatly.. not be dragged up to a large rock.
The desperate need for air compelled her to get herself out of the water faster than she was going. Letting her heels his the sandy bottum of the lake she gave a push so she'd burst out of the water, taking a deep breath as she did so.

Ah.. air.

Wait.. she was IN the said air. Oh dear-SMACK.
She fell ontop of something, or someone. She wasn't all too sure, just that whoever it was was now wet along with her.
The fish fell out of her mouth as she gasped for more air. Through one's nose just wasn't that good for recovering air fast.

Freize
Damn... This was heavy. "Sh... It..." The 'mutt's lip curled slightly, only for a mere moment before his strained expression faded once more... This would hopefully prove to be a good dinner, atleast, for all this effort.. He gave rather strong yank...

Which happened to be just as the were kicked off from the bottom of the lake- and then there was... A WOMAN FLYING IN THE AIR!? His eyes went somewhat wide, expression warping to one of shock and horror. It was headed straight for him! He tried to dart out of the way, but was too late, and was soon laying beneath her.. He let out a quiet cough, dazed eyes hooked up on the sky above them... What the hell had just happened!?... This was most certainly not 'catch of the day' material, and unfortunately he did not practice cannibalism. Meaning he was still going to be hungry... And then instinct kicked in. Move. Now. Fast.

He pulled himself up slightly, worming back some so that he was sitting up, propped up by his elbows, expression holding faint curiousity as he looked down at her.. Canine ears suddenly seemed to pop up, wriggling about some in a thoughtful manner.... This was... An odd....

"Are... Are you alright?" He cleared his throat.

He wasn't as bad as the humans made him out to be.

"Nn" she whimpered, looking up at him a bit dazed as her hands settled themselves on the rock as she pushed herself to her hands and knees. Giving a rather canine-liek shake off before remembering what had happend.
She looked up startled, backing up and causing herself to slip of fthe rock with a startled yelp, ending up clinging onto the edge comically with her legs in the water.

She blinked, looking him over. He wasn't human... that was good.. Werewolf maybe? That.. wouldn't be good. She wasn't excepted by either of her species. She stared at him, eyes concentrated on him as her mind flipped between the choice of fight or flight mode.
He'd asked somethign though hadn't he? His voice hadn't been threatning. So she relaxed a bit, nodding as her expression changed from defencive to a childlike stare. "I'm... okay.." she'd never been asked that before.."I didn't hurt you did I?" her expression changed once again, this time to worry as she hoisted herself easily back onto the rock shaking her tail off again.

She sat herself down cross-legged, glancing around for the fish they had both caught. Finding it, she scouped the dead creature off the ground and held it out to him. "I think you had it first."

Freize
The male's brows arched somewhat at her sudden scramble, a tilt given to his head. He was rather at ease right now, for he was fully confident that he could easily outrun or outfight if either was needed- besides, the female seemed more frightened than anything else, so he didn't see her as much of a threat.. He moved to sit up entirely as soon as she had distanced herself from him, tail curled up where it had early been pinned beneath him. It was a little sore, but he'd survive.

He offered her a shrug, "If something like that could hurt me, I'd be long dead now." He went to grab his fishing rod, moving to fold it and set it aside so it didn't end up getting sat on or swung around. And then he turned back towards her, eyeing the fish he was being offered thoughtfully, and then a hand was held up, "Keep it." Although his stomach protested his decision, his mind thought it truly just... Mostly because he was taught to always put everyone else before himself- which he sometimes didn't follow, but now was the perfect time to do so. "I can get another one." Eventually.

She frowned a bit, shaking her head "If its the bitemarks then don't worry, my mouth is pretty clean!" she insisted, not quite noticing how this wasn't a big deal. It wasn't a very large fist afterall.. "Wait, I'll get you another one! And and without any bites." She nodded firmly, nearly flinging the fish at him as she spun around to hop back into the water.
She returned a moment later desperatly holding a fish ontop of her head, struggling to keep it from sliding off as she tried to make her way back to the shore. "See? here!" something played with her conciance on taking someone elses meal. Maybe it was all that ettiquite that elves based their society on. She fell to her knees, flinching as she hit. Hitting ones knees hurt more when you weren't using your hands to help balance the weight out.

She let the fish land on the grass, carefully grabbing it and giving a light squeze watching it go limp at the sound of a slight crack. She couldn't stand to let it just sit there and flop around gasping for air.

Freize
The male's brows arched, and he opened his mouth to respond, but then she was throwing fish and jumping around and he barely had time to realize what was going on. He captured the fish, stared at it in a thoughtful manner, feeling his stomach growl at simply the sight of it... And then he tossed it aside. It was hers. He was very certain to always keep his word. He wasn't as immoral and horrible as those humans thought- perhaps he was even better mannered than them. But he didn't know, and he didn't quite care.. He shifted where he sat, glancing about for something more to use as bait. Even though she said she would catch another one for him, he couldn't take it. Especially since she was the one who caught it. He could simply catch another one. Perhaps he could try making a net later- that might work nicely... And then he'd have a whole bunch of fish.

He almost smiled to himself at that thought, catching a grub between two fingers and squeezing it gently, as if sizing it up. It wriggled about pitifully in his grasp. This would do nicely- and she was back. His head turned, gaze fixing on the female as she hurried back up, yet soon he seemed to loose interest, grabbing his pole to bait it. "Now you have two fish." He wasn't normal, it was true. He didn't like gifts all too much, or anything he considered 'charity'... Which unfortunately he saw this act of apparant kindness as.. He stared out towards the water, remaining completely still for a moment or so, seemingly watching or listening for something.

She blinked, looking down a bit downcast. Her race.. everyone thought she was filthy, why would he be any different? Any food she touched seemed as if it had been hit by a plauge. She stared down, seeming to shift in personalities. "Forgive me then. I'm sorry to have bothered you." her mere precense was discusting wasn't it..?
Her twin atleast looked decent.. he looked like a pure kitsune. Long pretty hair, more feminine than she'd ever be. She scouped up the two fish... She really only needed one. Actually she was suprised she had been able to catch the second one like that.. motivation maybe. She started back to her clothes.. this little made her feel rather naked. Not to mention she was infront of someone.. how embaressing. Course her other self wouldn't ahve cared as much as she did now...

Freize
The male's brows arched, seeming to catch onto her sudden swing of emotion... His ears were that of a dog suddenly, twitching about. A wave of guilt washed over him- he never wanted to upset anyone. After all, he was simply trying to be nice, but he had so few social skills that it was very difficult. His gaze shifted, suddenly furred tail waving about behind him. "Sorry." It was a word he had always been familiar with. "I'm not very good at being kind." He shifted where he sat, pondering whether he should leave now or not- "There's nothing for me to forgive." He looked at her evenly now, expression unchanging.

And then he was lifting himself to a stand, touching a finger gingerly to the bandage on his forehead as if it would fall off if he didn't, "It seems I've upset you-" Not surprising, he upset many people. But atleast she didn't seem angry with him like everyone else- "So I'll just be leaving..." He shifted his weight from foot to foot awkwardly, propping his fishing rod up with some nearby rocks, "So... Um... Enjoy your fish..?" He was no good at this. Damn his anti-social nature.

She shifted, looking up in a more timid fasion. She quickly shoved on her rags of clothes, not noticing her shirt was on inside out. She obviously looked different, less happy, and her previously moving tail was limp.
"Thankyou." she shifted, moving to a stand and fiddling with the uncomfortable shirt. She turned to walk the other way, soon dissapereing with the two fish... Not suprising, she wasn't hungry now. And if she was not for fish. Odd that one could switch personalities and tastes.

A few minutes later the woman smacked into the back of the man, yelping and falling backwards to her rear. She stared up at him for a moment or so, tail was tucked between her legs, looking up at him in a disoriented fashion.

Freize
The mutt stretched, back popping as he did so, a low sigh leaving the young looking male. His tail and ears were then back to normal, and he folded his arms over his chest and allowed his eyes to draw over the sky. He felt sore and rigid- who knew why. It often would come and go, this strange stiffness in his muscles. He rolled his right shoulder, head tilting itself to one side, and then prepared to trudge off, deciding to simply walk it off.

His entire body tensed as soon as he was touched, his eyes widdening and then coming to a narrow. He whirled about quickly, appearing more like a frightened feral than anything else, and then he seemed to relax after finding it was only her. His expression softened, another soft sigh leaving him. He forced his muscles to relax, and then offered a gloved hand, "You should be careful. Are you alright?" He may be anti-social, but he was in no way cruel or mean, and he never wanted to come off that way... But it was just harder for him. His tail began a calm sway behind him.

"Aa-uh-eh-"she stuttered freezing as an arrow hit the ground next to her, vibrating from it's abrupt stop. "Run." she squeaked out, hurring to her feet, grabbing his arm and continuing her fleeing. She couldn't just let him get attacked because she just happened to run into him.

She let him go as soon as he was running with her, figuring that if she wasn't dragging him along after her there wasn't too much of a need to hold onto him.

Freize
His lip curled the second the arrow landed, fangs revealed, muscles once again tensing as he hissed out a curse in some other language under his breath... Why had they come after him, he had done nothing! Suddenly his arm was being grabbed- not a smart idea, as he almost lashed out from pure instinct. He stopped himself though, and allowed himself to be dragged... Run? Suddenly his dog ears appeared. Eh?

"What are you doing..? Why..?" He kept up now, running alongside her, eyes holding a confused, bewildered look. He had never run before... And he had never had anyone care about his welfare, either. It was very unexpected.

"I can't let you get hurt just because of me.." she blinked, giving him a isn't that obvious look. She panted, stamina wearing out, curse the fact that there was streangth in numbers.
She glanced around, grinning as she reconized the area. "This way!" she smiled, quite confident now as she darted to the side, letting herself fall and slide into a small cave made from a oddly growing tree and its roots.

She poked her head out, inside her instinct, or paranoia.. either one, was nagging her about the conciquinces of showing someone her little hiding spot. But on the otherside those humans would kill anything.. Hn..
"Hurry!" she ducked back in, that was all she could do ne? If he didn't get in then there was nothing she could do about it.

Freize
"Because of you? But..." That totally took him by surprise. Weren't they here for him? This was odd. He didn't seem to be tiring as she did, seeing as he never did run much, but while living with his grandmother he was under some vigorous training- taking care of her. He had more stamina than he could shake a stick at. He watched as she disapeared into the cave, doing a quick whirl and skidding back on his heels as he came to a halt.

He was panting lightly as well, though, a hand resting at one side of his head... He looked at her warily- instincts screamed at him not to allow himself to be pulled into a small area by some stranger. His ears drooped slightly, fangs raking over his lower lip, and he decided now to throw out the question nagging at his mind- "But, aren't they after me?" He didn't wait for an answer, head swivveling as he suddenly caught onto some sort of noise. His eyes narrowed and he dropped to a crouch, heckles rising from his hunched form.

No choice... He didn't want to hurt anyone. And so he simply moved to slide in that little cave that he had seen her pop into, drawing in a deep breath. He wasn't good at trusting people.

She kept her voice hushed blinking in confusion "Why would they be after you?" she backed up against the dirt "wall" of sorts, slipping down as far as she could into the darkness of the damp cave.

The bat wings folded over the silver hair, she showed absolutly no signs of agression, or any plans to hurt him. Her tail still tucked up between her legs in a clear sign of submission, or just fear. Whichever.
Soon the sounds of their foot prints faded... She waited a moment more before giving the carefulest of peaks, keeping an eye on her company... Neeever turn yer back to someone like that.

She let out a sigh of releif, quickly scrambling out of there "It's safe now..." Another glance around, yep. Safe. Humans were kinda stupid when it came to things like this... Allways went straight foreward until they were too tired to keep going. Giving up and heading back to their towns.

Freize
The male simply settled in wherever he could fit, not even appearing relatively interested in the one he was down here with, staring through the darkness directly towards one of the walls. His tailtip flickered back and forth, arms folding over his chest, "People... Don't like me." It was just as simple as that, wasn't it? He was evil, a curse just like the one placed on his blood. He let his eyes drift to a close, simply depending on hearing to keep track of her, making sure she didn't come all to near to him- as one could tell, he was very untrusting. As she spoke again his eyes snapped open, and he immediately lifted himself up.

He poked out for the cave, sniffing the air quietly before moving to freedom. He stretched, feeling relief wash over him as the slight feeling of clausterphobia left him. His lips curled into a smile, which soon faded as he turned to look at his new companion quietly. "Thank you." He shifted slightly, as if preparing to turn and walk off, "... For you assistance, but... You shouldn't be in the company very long of someone like me." He then did turn, and began his stride off to wherever he was going as he mumbled to himself, "It's all the same, wherever I go... What was I thinking..?" Moving somewhere new will never save you from yourself. He was stuck with this for eternity.
PostPosted: Sun May 07, 2006 2:25 am

"I don't not like you..." she tilted her head to the side, an innocent look coming over her expression. She looked down as soon as she said that "but.. I'm not a person. So, I don't count." She shrugged, looking up to catch him walking off.

"U..Um.." she blinked, watching him walk off.. She frowned a bit, slowly following after him, not in a threatning sort of way.. more like the way a dog follows you around if you feed it. She kept her distance, so it was almost like she wasn't following him. Her sholders hunched as she was staring at the ground.. wondering why exactly she was following. Maybe it as just.. lonliness. And the fact he hadn't attacked her on the spot made her hopeful.

That and she was slightly curious.. he got attacked like she did, ne?

Freize
The male let out a deep breath, "I shouldn't say people- living things in general." He looked back towards her for a moment, continuing to walk, and then he picked up his pace and decided to return to his little 'utopia'- a little cavern of sorts he had come to stay in. It was basically closed off from the outside world, with an open top that let in only the sky... It was amazing to him... Some place where he could just lay on his back and stare upwards without any fear at all..... But there was always that gnawing feeling of hunger, constantly biting away at his stomach... He had hoped to take care of that earlier..

He suddenly stopped dead in his tracks, swivveling about to stare behind him, stance defensive. He drew in a few deeps sniffs and then stood still. She was following him? What could that young woman possibly want from something like him? He listened intently, waiting for her to completely catch up to him before speaking up in his quiet, naturally rough tone, "Why are you following me?" He tried not to sound intimidating, more curious... As, that's what he really was at this time. "Do you... Really want to stay in my company?" As if she were crazy that time. It wasn't a smart nor safe idea to stay near him.... After all, he was a monster. Just like they all said... And although he knew he wasn't like that, he knew that he could be sometimes, and he never wanted to let anyone see that part of him ever again.

she slowed to a stop as he stopped, a safe distance away but still close enough to converse easily. She flinched a bit when he spoke up, eyes locking on the ground. "I..." she fidgeted, what was she doing? The odd leathery wings folded as tight to her head as they could, trying to hide the symbol of her monster-ness. It wasn't a real "curse" more like a lable.

She tried to figure out why she was following him, somethign better than just wanting to be with this complete stranger. She glanced back up when he spoke again, shifting uncomfortably. "Well.. yea..." yea? that was the best you could come up with? "Sorry... but.. You were the first person that was nice to me. And... The first that didn't cast me aside. Your.. really nice.. but I'll go if you don't want me around..." she fiddled with the rag of a shirt. She looked rather childish at the moment, looking up at him again "I.. I'm sorry. I dropped the fish..." okay so it was kinda random, but she felt bad.

Freize
His eyes remained calmly looking onto her, seeming unphased by the strange wings she bore on the sides of her head as she flattened them- such things were far to pety for him to notice. When you come to live the way he has, you paid no attention to the faults of others. He shifted his weight from leg to leg, fangs worrying over his lower lip, a sudden canine-like tail swishing itself behind him. He wasn't really agitated- he didn't sense much of a threat from this female. If she did attack, he would be able to fight back and make a hasty retreat with no problem- atleast, that's what he'd gathered.

His brows came to a slight arch, "Nice...? Hmn.." He didn't often recieve compliments... How odd of a feeling it was. His head suddenly swivvelled, and he was looking in the opposite direction with narrowed eyes.. And then he gave a deep sigh and motioned for her to follow, "It's not a good hunting time... We'll have to do with something else. Follow me, stay close. We should move somewhere... Less open." Safer. In case those humans ever came back. It wasn't that he really hated them, he understood their fear... But for once he wished people doubted. That they didn't always believe their stories and wanted to get to know him... For who he was... Bah, cheesy thought. Forget about it. He began his quick paced trudge through the forest now, keeping light on his feet so as not to make any noise. He stopped after awhile, trees more cluttered about them, more of a shelter. He plopped down into a sit, moving to pluck a berry from a nearby bush and pop it into his mouth. "Try one... They aren't the best, but they'll keep you alive."

It didn't curb the hunger at all for him any more... The berries were bitter and bit at his tongue and his stomach, leaving a sick taste in his mouth... But they were good for you, and edible... One must eat anything they can... And this is what he often lived off of. He would hunt later tonight, and if luck was with him (it never usually was, though. His clumbsiness during the most serious of moments often got him in trouble) he would come back with food.. He took the time now to look back over at his 'guest' (or 'tag-along' ) thoughtfully, lithe black tail flickering about... He had never had company other than his grandma before. This would be odd... Where would she go after this, anyways? His own little 'cavern' was only feet away, tucked behind some rocks wedged between the tightly-packed trees. "Where are you from?"

The fidgeting and worried expression faded immediatly as he motioned for her to follow him. A bright smile lit her face, she had been.. accepted. It made her happy. Before this she'd only been around her brother... And she had to assume a mature, parental role around him.. it got stressing after so long, not to mention a few instabilities with being motherly to him.

She eyed the berries.. ugh. She couldn't stand fruits, or plants... but.. her stomach urged her to quit being picky when she was starving. Beggers can't be choosers. She reached up, plucking a berry and eyeing it before poping it into her mouth. The wings on her head poped out as her hands covered her mouth getting a green tint to her face. I'd rather die... She schoked it down anyways, to be considerate or something of the sort, trying to keep it down and get the wings down as well.

Atleast she could hunt decently.. though, shapeshifting helped with that. But she'd never show him she could shapeshift.. he'd probably freak out. Right? Nn oh well. She turned back to him, tilting her head to the side. "From...?" what did that mean? "From that direction..?" she pointed the way they had come, a sad attempt at an answere. But you couldn't expect much more from someone with little communitcation skills.
