Character name: Caroline "Carly" Harding
Age: 26
Occupation: African wildlife biologist, specifically involved in the study of the spotted hyena. (
Crocuta Crocuta.)
Appearance: Fairly plain, Carly doesn't tend to stand out in a crowd. She's of average height - 5'5" - and of medium build. Muscled, she isn't underweight or overweight, but falls right in the middle of what most doctors would consider 'normal' for a Canadian female. Her hair is deep brown, her eyes blue.
She wears conservative clothing, usually khaki. Shorts that go just about to her knees and a loose-fitting button-down vest over a t-shirt are musts. Both have lots of pockets where she keeps
just about everything she owns calls, cameras, paper, pencils... Carly travels light, because she has to be able to move quickly. There's always an MRE or two on her somewhere, as well, just in case.
Her most defining characteristic is a series of old scars on her right leg from where she was caught and mauled by a juvenile hippo. They run in all directions, creating a roughness to her skin as well as causing Carly to always walk with a bit of a limp.
Brief History: Born to a middle-class family, Carly always had a decent life. Her parents were both teachers - one a professor of biology at a local college, and the other taught geography at a nearby high school. With both studies in her background, the young Caroline Harding grew to like both. As she got older, she spent more of her time with atlases and books of fauna than she did with friends.
(Stuff about trip to Africa here) It happened when she was rather young, and she hasn't really liked hippos since. Though she knows that aggravating an animal is the fault of the
person, she tends to stear clear of the beasts even now. After all, how do you tell a young teen that hippos only act on instinct when they have these odd desires to tear you to shreds?

(Funding, travel to Africa here.)
Personality: Very pro-active. Stubborn. Ambitious. Well-mannered.
How she ended up on the Island: Who better to monitor and evaluate the animals on the island than a wildlife biologist? The island had need, and Moreau certainly couldn't stick one of his own people out there. The labtechs would be mauled by the Islanders!
It wasn't too long after that when Carly recieved a notice of special assignment, and was flown to a place where new species existed for study. Of course, Carly had no idea that the 'new species' all used to be human.
