Why yes I do have some advice for you...believe it or not.
My best piece of advice I can give you is that to get kids under control the best solution is a gymic. Now I may not be able to spell that word 100% correctly but humor me.
Try the if you can hear me clap 2 times trick. That will get you their attention for sure. That way you can give them announcements. Another good idea is letting them know ground rules, but not make it condosending, (again just humor me despite my bad spelling). Make it like their your friends and stuff.

The only other thing I can tell you is to remember that they are just little kids and they're excited about being on your stage. Your stage, use this to your advantage to let them know the rules of the way of Thespis. (I just took the AP english exam and I'm unsure of how to spell anything so please forgive me)

That's about it.

I have a friend who voluntarily works with small children. Not only that, but in a small childrens' music class. I seriously don't know how she does it.

gahh the talent show.

we had three out-of-conrtol-hyperactive 6th graders. who would not shut up or follow any of the rules. If we said to go backstage, they would go backstage and then make a "spectaclar" entrace onto the stage from backstage while we were trying to set something up. they talked nonstop durring sound checks. they tried to peek onstage while it was going.

i wanted to rip their heads off

and im sure your experiance was worse.

I'm a veteran of youth theater, and I must admit some of them are really mean. I'm teching a kids show right now, and one ofg the kids has Aspergers. The other kids are awful to him! It makes me hurt to see how they mistreat him.

It's a mild form of Autism. He's a little slower on figuring out what's going on and very bad at sensing hidden motives. So some of his "friends" like to try to get him in trouble.

Eurg... I did Les Mis with a ton of kids... anyone undert the age of nine was good and anyone over the age a 15 was cool. But all the kids that were like... 12 drive me crazy.

Best advice is just to ingore them...
